My reaction to Led Zeppelin's ferocious "The Lemon Song" off of their 2nd studio album "Led Zeppelin ll". Make sure to comment, like, and subscribe! #ledzeppelin #thelemonsong
The magick of Led Zeppelin is you can listen to all the musicians together or pick one out and just listen to that one part. Additionally, producer Page knew how to mix so one could focus on each instrument separately if one so desired.
Looking at the "big picture," LZ II is the album that put LZ at the top as the biggest, loudest, and most powerful band in the world. When it was released, it replaced the Beatles' Abbey Road (their final recording) as the number 1 album in the world, symbolic of Zep replacing the Beatles as the band at the top. This album also was the blueprint for 1970's rock, and everything that followed.
@@emmanuelflores9983 thank you. Enjoy your channel. This album was the new guard replacing the old guard. This was the "welcome to the 1970's" album...the Beatles were now the old guard, and Zep the new.
@@emmanuelflores9983my understanding according to Bonham, they most often did it in one or two takes, my guess because they are that great. Yes Plant is the ultimate front man, how he uses his vocals, no other even comes close. His range tone & texture is unmatched, he can change it on a dime, & make it suit any songs they do. It’s sad he needed chord surgery, I believe 2 times, & it made it harder to hit those high clear notes. He can, but it takes more effort. This band knew, losing any one of them they were done, sadly losing Bonham way to soon.
Dude, first time i comment here. I'm a 67 year old man who saw Zeppelin on this same tour in Hartford Connecticut in 73. Robert Plant...the talk was that if you brought your girl friend to a Zeppelin concert you were sure to "get a little" that night. All the girls wanted to do him and the dudes wanted to be him. Zeppelin was a very sexual band and the lyrics gave the censers a challenge. The Lemon song is about this girl who squeezed him 2 ways, first squeezed him for money but he had a hard,(no pun intended) time leaving because she was soooo good at squeezing his lemon. The juice running down his leg is not for making lemon aid !! The Lemon Song is tame compared to another song they did called, "Custard Pie." P.S. you may want to have your girl friend close by or a box of Kleenex.
I don't know if you have noticed that most of zeppelins songs are love songs weather it be happy or tragic but not all are.....love how you are going through zeppelin one album at a time great approach cant say you missed one this way like how you analyze their music spot on in most cases good job sad to say I remember when all this stuff was new great then and still great now
I've had the 4th album since forever. At age 12 I came across the song Kashmir in a movie and had to have all of their discography! I listened to all of their albums for the first time on my walkman in bed at night. THIS song made we want to play bass. Although, months later I found my uncles old guitar in his closet so I became a guitarist instead. I did finally buy a bass about 10 years later. Check out Jimmy Pages previous band the Yardbirds as well as his studio session work in the 60s! Some real gems in there.
I love watching video reactions of young people getting into Led Zeppelin for the first time. Watching their reaction to Zep for the first time is great, but watching their reaction to The Lemon Song is priceless. For all their fame with the classics of Whole Lotta Love and Kashmir and Black Dog and the like that are on the radio constantly to this day, the Lemon Song is one of their absolute rawest, most direct and pure jams. If you can ever get a really nice stereo and turntable, this album is a must have on the remastered 180g vinyl. You sit in your living room and it literally feels like John Paul Jones is not only playing right in front of you, but it's as if his Acoustic 361 bass cabinet is right in front of your face as he jams...... the cabinet he used on this track was very similar to this if not exactly what he used: reverb.com/item/5213023-vintage-acoustic-361-powered-bass-amp-amplifier-cabinet-1-x-18-cab-only He used a Fender Jazz Bass with flat wound strings. Of course, all that gear means nothing if you can't play. John Paul Jones could probably make a cardboard box and fishing line for strings sound fantastic.
I luv that you love this song so much😻 I believe there was some issue abt this song when 2nd album released over the "squeeze my lemon" not much air play etc 🥴 next up a beautiful song FYI never try to figure out where Zep is going!
Great to see you back dude! To be honest, “lemon song” probably wouldn’t be in my top 30 favorite Zep songs, but that’s just me. I don’t dislike it, it just never grabbed me in that deep, visceral way. The next track, “thank you” is acoustic, and a ballad. It’s also the first song that Robert Plant wrote the lyrics for. I think you will enjoy it.
Would love to see your Top 30 one day, I'm big on making lists like that. Maybe once I've reacted to all the albums I'll make a video ranking my top 30 Led Zeppelin songs!
I'm pleased to see you will proceed in Chronological order with Album Tracks by Led Z. The world has enough access to random shuffle plays. Be true to their Artisty as a listener by enjoying the flow as it was intended to be! Cheers!✌🍁✌
LZ had been playing this song in some version since the beginning. Here is a live performance from 1969 - the mix is kinda weird with the vocals buried a little but the BASS LINE is killer; at about 3:55 the visual goes to some other performance but the audio continues correctly. Hope you enjoy!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2f6T4DZG9yg.html
I find that sometimes reactors get too deep into the lyrics with Led Zeppelin’s music. The music isn’t really about the lyrics. The lyrics are more incidental to the music than anything else. My advice would be to allow them to take you on their musical journey and allow your mind to interpret the lyrics however you want. Robert Plant’s voice and emotion are just another masterful instrument in the piece. Enjoy it! 🙂 thank you for your wonderful reaction. New subscriber🙋♀️
Dude, The Lemon Song? He is also saying a certain part of his body that looks like lemons is being squeezed. Franks and Beans. The Beans part. LOL. "The way you squeeze my Lemon, I'm gonna fall right out of bed." If you think a phrase in a Zeppelin song has sexual meaning then go with your first instinct.
