Some Of You May Have Seen This Reaction, It’s on my Vimeo Channel But I think I may have found a loophole to put these videos back up over here😅 (But it’s still Blocked in 4 Countries)
My mom tried to break this album over her knee cuz she thought it was degenerate at the time. Before mainstream knew about the blues, bluegrass, or cajun ..
That bass line is just perfection. It’s all I can hear when I listen to this song. The man is a master musician. Plays whatever instrument he needs to get the job done.
Dude, look up a song called Warsaw (Or the First Breath You Take After You Give Up). John Paul Jones is in his mid-60s on that song and he still kills it!
@@TheKitchenerLeslie , the Crunge is super funky, but more repetitive than the middle section of The Lemon Song. Living Loving Maid is more of a straight ahead rock tune
Completely underrated as a member of this band. People always talk about Jimmy Page and John Bonham. JPJ is an amazing bass player. I think the reason he's forgotten about is that if you don't have great stereo equipment you might not even hear the bass back there. I know I didn't until around the 90s when I got my first real sound system.
@Brian taylor your IQ is 44? Strange thing to tell a complete stranger but it does explain why you keep commenting on a channel you unsubcribed from. You do know that the more you comment, the more RU-vid thinks you like Jamel's content, right?
As Jimmy Page has said: he and Clapton, Richards, Beck, etc - they're all still chasing along after Robert Johnson, still trying to reach the high bar he set.
Freaky deeky indeed. I was born in the 50s, the oldest of 6 kids with 3 younger sisters and came of age when they were making this great music. When my dad first heard the "squeeze my lemon" lines blasting from my room, he couldn't shut me down fast enough yelling about my little sisters hearing it. Good times.
Full full circle. 4 Brits, basically stealing old blues music and adding their own flavor. Don't get me wrong, it still rocks! By the 60's blues in America was on the down swing and many Brits:Stones, Clapton, Zep, etc brought it back to the Americans to enjoy. Many, inc Clapton, Stones, SRV did their best to give props to the three kings, Buddy Guy, Chuck Berry. Hopeful some in America can appreciate some of the great great music their ancestors invented.
To quote Graeme Edge of The Moody Blues (British band) to America with a laugh in his voice: "We stole your music, repackaged it, and sold it back to you!"
This was recorded in pieces throughout 1969. Page was a whopping 25 years old. Plant was only 21. All four guys churning this out in their early 20s. A-freaking-mazing.
I think the best part of the whole breakdown is when Plant sing ls "you ain't nothing but a two-bit no-good jive," and Page's guitar goes "oooooooooh!" behind him, like the "Andy from 'Parks and Rec'" reaction gif. 😆
"'Til the juice runs down my leg" is originally from a Robert Johnson song. Sorry I can't remember which one at the moment, but RJ started it. Zep actually got of their songs and references from old school Mississippi blues, which I've always appreciated about them. This song is basically a cover of "Killing Floor" by Howlin' Wolf.
Traveling Riverside Blues by Robert Johnson (1937) has the 'Squeeze my lemon' line in it. You should do a reaction to it. Then the Led Zeppelin version of Traveling Riverside Blues.
@@scarletjohnston741 - I'm so jelous 😎 I'm a guitar player mostly I plagerize oops practice... playing like Buddy and just caint get close to his sound. His guitar has more notes in it I think 😂
Jamel, my brother, you get it! Led Zeppelin honors old school blues masters like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf (Chester Barnett) and his bass man Willie Dixon!
Nobody's Fault But Mine - Blind Willie Johnson In My Time of Dying (also called Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed) - Blind Willie Johnson/Reverend J. C. Burnett
Unbelievable, you forget just how beyond good this band is! The creativity and arrangements are beyond belief. You could not get away with songs this length these days. I feel like it is so unusual now for any room is made to showcase the prowess of the band. I regret not making it my business to see them live. Thanks for the gifts you shower us with during a time we still need something to take us out of our heads full with worry. Led Zep forevah!!!!!!!
Jamel I watched your reaction to Peter Frampton Comes A live from 1976 I have to tell you i laughed so hard and cried for so long i all most peed my pants ,Your a blast brother , It is still one of the top 2 selling LIVE LPS EVER RECORED Thank you so much for personality ,,,
Back when we were listening to Led Zepplin, our parents couldn't be less interested in any of it as long as we didn't play it too loud. That was probably a good thing. (for us). Imagine being in your twenties and listening to music like this. I was lucky.
the killing floor is the section of the slaughter houses in Chicago where they killed the cattle, back in the day apparently a lot of blues men worked there and it was a horrible job
I’d love to see you do Ten Years Gone, Fool In The Rain, Going To California. Led Zeppelin has an amazing amount of good songs besides their most famous ones.
Inspired by Howlin' Wolf "Killing Floor" and Albert King's "Cross-cut Saw" but references go even back to 1937 with the song "She Squeezed My Lemon" by Arthur McKay. It is said that Led Zeppelin were fiddling around in the studio and recorded this song in one take... simply amazing. Great groove by John Paul Jones on bass.
Jamal, you need to check out ELVIS COSTELLO. “What’s so funny about Peace, Love and understanding?” Goes along with your shirts quite nicely. Costello has dozens of GREAT songs! Allison, Veronica, every day I write the book ........
You could almost pick any track off of the first 4 Zep albums...maybe even the first 6. Anyway, random gem for you is Double O Soul Ray Charles w/ Billy Preston...please. You won’t be disappointed.
four symbols on the label and inside sleeve of Led Zeppelin IV, represent (from left to right) Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, John Bonham and Robert Plant. ... The idea for each member of the band to choose a personal emblem for the cover was Page's.
This is my absolute favorite Led Zeppelin song. The bass work by JPJ is just amazing. As for the line in the middle about the lemon, the myth goes, Plant forgot the lyrics during that verse so just started singing the line from an old Willie Dixon song.
This is the music that I grew up with 🎼 🦋 From age 10 & up for me. I still remember listening to this music, & it was beyond everything that I had heard before 🎼. Still feel that🎼🦋 The band pulls from a lot of the Great Blues Artist an edge 🎼 ….Also never understood particular lyric as a young girl. Still have yet to outgrow Led Zeppelin 🎼🦋. Love your reaction also, it’s like getting to listen to it with a new musical ear! It’s Fun ✌️❤️
I’ve been listening to Zeppelin since their beginning. 3 concerts in early 70’s and…still love them like the first time what an era in music! legendary… how the .... did I get this old? like Ronnie said 🔊🔊🔊
Zeppelin is classic and a band I wish I would have seen in 1977 but was only 12 . I started going to rock concerts later that year but regret not being able to see them live. Jamel please react to "Montrose" Rock the Nation . many other good songs on " Montrose " too
Jamel,..you seem like a really genuine good person man.Been part of getting through this pandemic madness.God bless your good soul man.Keep on keeping the faith
It's a cover. Originally a Howlin Wolf sung song, probably written by Willie Dixon. Classic American Chicago blues. This is their Zep version. They called it "Killin' Floor".
So much going on this song, so memorable as is the album. From JPJ bass lines, to RP singing "Baby, baby, baby...", this song definitely knows how to squeeze us.
I saw them perform this in SF when I was a blushing teen in ‘69- I was blushing! ETA: You are doing a stellar job as ALWAYS! It doesn’t even matter what you’re playing- the reactions are so entertaining!
@@TheDivayenta nah, because you have amazing taste in music. And yes, I’m on FB but I never use it. But definitely friend me. I’ll have to start getting on again! It’s the same purple profile pic as I have here on YT. 💜💜💜
My favorite Zep song! I love playing this on drums. You should look up Led Zeppagin . They're amazing. I've seem them a few times. They seriously impressed me. Zep is very hard to cover. The singer has the tonal sound and range of Plant. The drummer is a freaking beast!
I have been watching your reactions, especially to my favorite band the Mighty, Mighty Led Zeppelin, so I had to share this one. I totally understand the reaction to the first time hearing it and reading Plant's lyrics.
What Led Zeppelin songs are about, by percentage: 1. Sex - 59% 2. Hobbits Or Vikings Or Some Shit - 40% 3. Citrus - 1% And now, Jamel, you gotta do Custard Pie. Think you can guess what that one's about? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VVP3g1-Wq_0.html
So happy you re-uploaded this! I forgot how much I loved every second of you hearing this. The faces, the dancing, your comments!!! Lmao! Do you have any idea how ridiculously adorable and fun you are?! 😄😄😄
You've got to check out the live version of Dazed and Confused from the Song Remains the Same concert film. It's loooong but changed my life the first time I heard it.
Can't tell you all how it warms the heart of a going on70 year old how young Black men and women react to my generations music. 70s, 11th row, amazing, good, good stuff.
My favorite reaction from you ever, Jamel ! When this song came out, it was banned from the radio stations in Shreveport and most of the South. Of course that made us want to play it even more !! One of the best bluesy songs from LZ .
