peach princess Both Spencer and Dallon did. Dallon wrote ALL of 'All The Boys' actually. It was his song that Urie revamped a little in production. 'Collar Full' sounds a *fuck of a lot* like an older song of Dallon's, which makes sense because he was behind most of that one as well. Kinda sad people don't know how involved he was.

I actually once saw someone say that Dallon was never a real member of Panic! and didn't contribute creatively at all during his time with them. That's gotta suck to not be recognized as even being there lmao ouch. And wasn't he also the one who drew the album cover art for Vices, based off one of his own old records? *Ouch*

dallon wasnt an actual like,, *official* member of the band, but god i love his writing. dallon writes in a story type of style, and he wrote a lot on too weird to live, too rare to die.

honestly im becoming a slight dallon stan,,, like he's such a talented person, a huge sweetheart, and even though his current band only has like 2-3 official songs, im starting to prefer idkhbtfm over panic!.

Katherine Byers To each your own taste...personally I've liked all 'eras' of Panic! lyrics because they serve different purposes...... Ryan's lyrics on Fever where brilliantly crafted, but theatrical -- an exaggeration. They come from an honest place, but he wanted to release his emotions by transforming them into adrenaline and caricature. On Pretty. Odd. , they became more ..honest..but also quite whimsical...which captured the entire atmosphere while still retaining layers of meaning. Vices seemed _really_ honest - in the way that all these stories Brendon was creating seemed to spell desperation and confusion and insecurity, even more transparent than Ryan had ever conveyed. Too Weird was a character album..the character being this villian in Vegas, and even though the lyrics are sparse, he and Dallon worked really well crafting this persona DOAB is a lot of ADHD, but I like the lyrics...they honestly attempt to capture this...indescribable... feeling of dissatisfaction at some no-stop party, of galas and going crazy and 'making it' but feeling lonely inside. I'm not sure how much he managed to nail it, but he _was_ expressing some emotion that seems true..different from heart-break, different from Drake whining about the price of fame..........I think DOAB is best expressed by something Brendon said once -- "I'm basically Kanye West + Elmer Fudd"

I also think that was a deliberate decision for this album...Vices was extremely straight-forward, even when laced with imagery and metaphors..to the point of almost verbose. Too Weird had just enough lyrics and all the right ones; not as much emphasis on lyrics, but very tight. It's as if he _wanted_ to convey ADHD all-over this album

Eman A S Yeah but you've also got to take into consideration that you had other people writing a lot of everything on those two records and influencing stuff like direction and interpretation. I kind of think this is his preferred writing style just because of what we've heard so far from 'Pray for the Wicked' we're back to the outlandish lyrics that are all over DOAB. A lot of Say Amen sounds like "filler" (glossolalia: a placeholder) and same with Silver Lining

Interesting.... no doubt he had help with lyrics all-over, but he did say that a lot of DOAB was phrases he heard friends say, etc. that he though cool...like you say glossolalia (a new word for me, I like it) But Pray for the Wicked sounded different, no? I thought Silver Lining was pretty 'Too Weird' lyrically. Everything you need, nothing you don't..it pretty clearly addresses the "you kicked out Dallon, you kicked out everyone cause you can't work with anyone, and now you're going to fail" folks....as in "I'm dodging ...everything you think that I'm not" "archetype of TV" but now he's going to go further...like We're So Starving, but on ambrosia Say Amen is a lyrical precursor to This is Gospel as well......how he prayed for one day, introspection, but lost two close friends/bandmates...if he prays again, he stand to lose Spencer too..he'll have no one else to save. He just wants to get back to the work-week, get back to performing, because he only 'prays' (introspects) on his downtime on the weekend..but now it's Saturday night and he wants to revel in what he accomplished over the work-week...maybe if he had one more day, but now he is in denial. Cue This is Gospel.

Eman A S On 'glossolalia'- I've heard Urie use the word, and Eddie Vedder/Chris Cornell use it in the 80s/90s and that's about it actually. It comes from religious languages this or that or whatever but it means like gibberish or meaningless phrases. You're taking a lot of different things from a lot of different places and you're just trying to confuse the people you're talking to. Not only is no one supposed to know what you're talking about but there isn't actually anything to understand and figure out, it's all interchangeable
