TOOL doesn't have bad or mediocre songs: there are only masterpieces, great songs and very beautiful songs. But they have to be understood and you have to work hard. The Pot isn't their best song, but it's one of the easiest and catchiest. TOOL are like a great book or a dish of haute cuisine while today we are used to Instagram shorts and fast-food restaurants. It takes time to fully appreciate them. The songs are long, with complex rhythms and many layers in both sound and lyrics. I don't say this to discourage you of course since I love them. But TOOL can't be listened to in the background by skipping tracks, maybe while doing something else... We need to use headphones, get comfortable maybe even with our eyes closed and dedicate half an hour of our life to listening to music and that's it. The first few times, even a single listen is not enough because we discover details that we hadn't noticed the first time and that subvert our perspective. By doing so, TOOL could be one of the coolest things that ever happened to you (obviously if they are close to your tastes).

Now enjoy it as you like," you probably would have hurt yourself right away and never used it again. This is called "being nice" not being weird. @@prefono that’s a weird comparison that implies Tool has to be taught how to listen to properly without hurting yourself? Idk lol. All I’m saying is that not everyone is going to interpret art the same exact way or feel the same emotions and meanings as you do. It can be a turnoff for people having people insist on how their experience should be. Just let them experience and interpret it themselves. I’m glad I discovered this band on my own because I would’ve easily been turned away if I had people with this mindset insisting I feel a certain way about it
@@crazydrummer181 Everyone can and must interpret art as he wishes, according to his tastes and according to his emotions, but in my opinion disinterested advice from someone who knows the work relatively thoroughly cannot be an obstacle. If I had said "it's the best band in the world" or "you absolutely must listen to this song" it would have been completely useless but I don't think I suggested listening to what I like or trying to force anyone. I don't think it's so absurd to say "they're a strange and not very catchy group, but spend some time listening to them carefully and you won't regret it". Don't worry... I'll stop now. I find it funny how the pot is the new introduction song to new fans. I first discovered tool by the song Sober which was my introduction to the band. Grudge, Vicarious, Lateralus, on and on... It's a journey to start with their first EP and go through it all. You can't go wrong really. Favorite Tool song is the one that's playing. Epic talent by all members of this bad.

tool is one hell of a band! They truly don’t sound like any other band out there. Every song of theirs is amazing! Not one bad song. I suggest listening to “vicarious” or “stinkfist” next. Can’t go wrong w anything the tool army suggests either. P.S. do audio versions only and NOT music videos.
Eddie Van Halen attended a Tool concert in his last year of life. He was very impressed with their myriad talents. There's a famous photo from that concert where a Tool fan asked him to take his photo, not realising it was a famous guitarist
From interviews all of the Tool members are big fans of Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd. They are kind of a mix of Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath if you think about it.

But this is easily the best band alive today! Enjoy the rabbit hole! Also, try to avoid their music videos at first because they can be distracting for the first time listener. Stick to the audio off their albums.
This isn’t just a band it’s a soul healing experience, and journey. All there albums are the nipple on the titty. We the Tool army don’t really have favorite songs. But, Hooker with a penis is great. Lateralus is good. 46 and 2 is the bomb. Those will help you start off. Do the research on this band and read the lyrics as well.
You just stepped into the TOOL ARMY! Enjoy the ride brother! Try...THE GRUDGE, JAMBI, RIGHT IN 2, VICARIOUS, ÆNIMA, 46&2... TIPS: Stay away from the vidios and stick with lyric videos instead. When you pause do a 10 second rewind. Do a little research for the meanings of the songs. Headphones are a must! Some songs are to be played together. Dont expect to catch typical grooves, Tool has long phrasings and overall "feels" to their songs. Do full album reactions if possible. Their stuff is very themed...not just from song to song but also album to album. And finally....Spiral out! 🌀 Keep going!
