Finally, we've arrived. The first snow has melted and we can go for a ride. We preferred to drive carefully, because we don't have much confidence in those 30-year-old tires. The Tisza is surprisingly good to drive. The only criticism is the steering wheel, which we didn't align to the middle position before the ride and made it difficult to hold. Then there's also the rattling loose chrome shifter tube and worse synchro in fourth gear. The dashboard suffered from the original owner's intervention. After sitting in the car and driving a few yards, one finds that one has no desire to cruise at all, but to put a little pedal to the metal and enjoy the ride. The willingly going engine is tempting to do so after all these years, but unfortunately, after the latest modification, it has less power than it could have had, as it has had its compression reduced to 7.5 for trouble-free use of the technical petrol that was heavily used back then. It's been driven out of many barrels. We only did about 2 miles with the Thousand, so we'll look forward to spring. Spring will also see some rust repairs and maybe we'll see you at one of the Skoda reunions.
