First Ride: Getting Air at Skeggs Point
My first time riding Skeggs Point at El Corte de Madera Preserve with the South Bay and Kadena riders. It's a great place to get decent miles in and enjoy some flowy sections.
This ride also gave me the biggest air to date (unexpectedly) when I popped off a crest with pretty good speed lol. Overall a great beginner - intermediate ride.

Siiiiickkkk! You did very good, Skeggs is one of my favorite local rides. In fact just went there yesterday!! I've hit that roller a huge roller a bunch BUT DO WATCH YOUR SPEED though. @ 3:22, where you got air, is the same roller I sent back in October and went OTB at a crazy high speed. Had a concussion, broke my orbital bone and some ribs, messed my wrist and leg up pretty bad. Doctors said I was lucky it wasn't worse. I was out for about a month and a half, almost two. BUT I still love this place and ride it often.

Oh wow i think ive seen your video on that in youtube! Yeah definitely surprised me and lucky that i didn’t do anything crazy to otb. Really shows you that with enough speed you can clear big jumps haha. Hope you healed well from that ordeal!

@@TrailDad Mid Pen does not allowed e-bikes but I have seen them there. E-bike would be nice with all the climbs there.

You have to descend Resolution and Fir Trail (lower) at least once. You’ll notice on Trailforks you can’t do both at the same time, but the climb back up to run the other descent is well worth it. Both black trails but damn.... SUPER fun. Once you try those, it’s kind of hard to want to go back to other trails there.

@@TrailDad I typically either go Demo or Skeggs every Saturday like religion. I can show you if you’re ever in the area and would like a tour. And yea, all on Trailforks! I’ll PM you my exact route when I’m done with my homework haha

@@TrailDad just found my route on Trailforks. It’s called “Skeggs - Fir + Resolution.” Posted as 9 mi, 2133 elevation. It’s 12.54 mi, 2300 elevation according to my Strava. Pinoy boys always down to have fun!

Damn, I like the look of those trails a lot! I just drive through that area but had never heard of this place. It was dumping rain when I drove through though. Love the enthusiasm dude. Send it! 🤙🏻

You must ride the Methuselah trail down from North Leaf to the El Corte de Madera creek at the bottom. It is a great descent with good jumps and Incredible views at the bottom where the creek is. The creek is very serene if it has water. I rode in Feb 2023, and it is PERFECT!

@@TrailDad Yes, but I have a Scott Patron eMTB and ride Skeggs all the time with no issues. I also see eMTB often at Demonstration Forest and Santa Cruz, even though they are banned. Incredibly dumb "rule" if you ask me. They are not motorcycles, they are e-assist. Ok . . . so what if it enables me to climb at 5 mph instead of 2 mph LOL

@@TrailDad Occasionally you are going to get some "analog" rider make some comment, "make sure the Ranger doesn’t see you with that eBike" but I have never had any problems or confrontations about it. I rode past a Ranger sitting in a truck at the Skeggs trailhead a couple of weeks ago. 🙂

When did you go? Are the trails open? Many seem closed due to the recent rain.

This was back in September 2020 lol. I’ve been lazy lately and still have a lot of content to render. I think trails right now are still kinda saturated. Maybe a few days after this rain will be perfect
