First ride & no more fear of wheels

Hi. I’ve always had a slight fear of urethane wheels because I lacked control. My last uses for bad because I use to pull too hard on rail, but not today.
It’s a small milestone to understand the simple weighting of your front foot, weighting back foot and sliding with the board.
Tried the beef cake pucks with the ‪@nemoproducts‬ Palmease and worked out great.
So psyched when simple practice gets results.
See to next video.

Thanks. One of my fears-now overcome, but need to dial it back. Glad I got driver’s attention.

That road crack looked pretty nasty. If you were on low durometer, high rebound wheels (such as 75A Snakes), it would likely have taken a chunk out of the wheels.

I think it was because I was doing Coleman and not push up slide? Good to see that I was weighting my foot that really dug into crack. 😆I’ll have to do carving a little further down the road.

@@cantskate5535 Yeah, gotta try to slide somewhere else, I believe. Even low rebound wheels like these clear Seismics will eventually experience some form of chunking if the shearing damage is high enough. That said, chunked wheels still work fine in general unless the chunk is extremely big and affects the rolling of the wheel.

I'm not quite sure by what you mean with the words "urethane wheels". The meat of skateboard wheels are generally all made from urethane - some have small cores while others have big cores (cores are made from various materials). On the other hand, street/park skateboard wheels are usually very hard, so most don't even need to have cores.

Yeah-it’s just my mincing words, but those type that are more like rubbery, maybe not stone ground-idk. Some of the other non-downhill wheels that may be for cruising? It was about 6 months ago, maybe, and I was still pulling rail hard-strained my elbow and shredded the wheel-like shaving lumps? I will post in upcoming video of what I meant.

@@cantskate5535 If a wheel is not stone ground, you have to break in the skin manually through forcefully sliding it through its skin. It's usually not very pleasant to slide with skin, but wheels usually don't really require too many rounds of slides to break in their skin. If after some slides (or even just one) and only some of the wheels (ex. rear only) are broken in, you can use wheel rotation to swap the broken-in ones and non-broken-in ones and then repeat the same slide(s). I usually do all 4 ways of standup 180 slides when I try to break in wheels (heelside, toeside, switch heelside, and switch toeside). Each one usually wears down a single wheel more than the others (usually rear outer wheel - with respect to the stance & rotation direction). Doing this 4-way-180-standup-slide method allows me to not need to rotate wheels.

@@nickamarit yes, that absolutely makes sense and thanks for pointers. I actually just tried the stone ground Cuei Steeze power thane formula- omg - insane thane. Best ever for me. Every slide was heavy thane. Will be posting tomorrow as it’s too late now.

@@cantskate5535 Cuei (and a few other brands - even some models of Hawgs wheels) uses a metric hub, so it's hard to find spacers that will fit them properly. Most wheels' hubs are imperial and 0.4" spacers (10.16mm) fit them perfectly. But for metric hubs, you will need spacers that are exactly 10.00mm for a perfect fit. My solution to get around this issue without using 10.00mm spacers is by using, in each wheel, a bearing inner race (which is 7.00mm) and a stack of a few speed rings (around 3) of varying thicknesses to find the combo with the most snug fit w/o wheel looseness (from being too big) or bearing-torquing (from being too small).

@@nickamarit truthfully, this is over my head, but will keep re-reading. Where can you buy the spacers you mentioned?

Dude,stick to a carpark or dead end road. Your a danger to yourself and others. Keep practising but this was a bit thoughtless considering your level of skating
@cantskate5535
@cantskate5535 Месяц назад
Thanks for commenting. Yeah, agree - a little thoughtless, but truthfully could have waited. Road early morning isn’t really that busy and I was rushing because I had stuff to do at home. I did another session on a side street that was much less risky.

Yeah, agree-not best training spot. I had snakes , but gave to a friend. Just tied Cuei Steeze power thane formula-best thane I’ve ever had. Will be posting later today.
