Hey SaskRiderMoto, Tom here again - the Alasaka or Bust guy. I just saw your reply about Key West… Last summer (2022), we did the eastern seaboard from Maine down to Key West, and then across the southern states, and up through the Rockies to BC to the Toad Rock Motorcycle Campground - look it up, we go every year to spend a week with our motorcycle family. Then we went to Sturgis (which we also do every year) and finally back home. 6 weeks, 30 states, 17000km - it was epic. If you do Key West, permit me to give you some unsolicited advice - the traffic on the eastern seaboard is brutal and scary, so stay on the west cost of Florida.
Thank You for that information. It will more than likely not be happening for at least 5 years. as have to pay for kid's secondary education first lol.
I tell you what, It has been hard to be a good boy riding. There is soooo many times I want to just go fast....but my son keeps reminding me to slow down and be good haha Thanks for checking out the video.
It was a Voice Over. It was the first ride of the year so was a little nervous, and was talking A LOT with my kid so I took that out and did the voice over. Thanks for watching dude.
My wife and I (and our dog) will be passing through Saskatoon in the first week of July (2023), on our way to Alaska, on our matching Chieftain Dark Horses. We plan on staying a night at the Gordie Howe campground…what could be more Canadian than that. We would love to see your bike setup and swap stories. Tom (Toronto)
Hey there, Thanks for stopping by and checking the video out. That sounds like an amazing trip. I would love to take a long trip with the bike, but that will have to wait as life is in the way hehe. If I could have purchased this Blue color in a Dark Horse I would have. I like the blackout more but still love the bike. If you give me a week's notice on when you will be in Saskatoon I will see what I can do to make it work to meet up. Ride safe and enjoy that trip.
@@SaskRiderMoto Thanks for responding. The plan is for us to spend the night at the Gordie Howe campground on the holiday Monday (July 3). I’ll reach out to you a week or two before that. By the way, it’s great to see a new rider who is all in the way you (and your son) are…that’s what motorcycling is all about. FYI: with the NorthWest Territories, the Yukon, and Alaska, my wife and I will have ridden in every US state and every Canadian province and territory with the exception of Hawaii…and we always leave from, and return to, our driveway in Toronto, so we are bigs fans of your interest in doing bigger and bigger trips. Tom
@@tomhicks4742 Thank you. I love riding with my son (even though he drives me nuts when we pull onto the highway and leaves me behind until he gets to the speed limit lol). I have said in other videos that we decided to get into riding together for more bonding as I do not have many years left before he will move out and do his own thing. He has a sport bike, so he won't be going on any trips with me as he would not be able to ride for as long as I can. I need to mod my bike some more soon (I hope) to have it ready for when I start taking trips. 1 ride that I really, really, really want to do someday is to ride my Chieftain from Saskatoon to Key West and back. But my End goal is what the 2 of you are doing. Ride through every state and province/Territory. My Wife's uncle lives in Yellowknife, has a Chieftain as well, and talked me into my bike haha.
I also am getting my license this August, and bought a 2022 cheiftan limited, actually that exact color, im glad to see im not the only new rider who went big from the start 😅
When I was looking at bikes, I was starting to follow that you should only get a used 400cc or less to learn on. Glad I did not follow through with it. I think anyone can drive any CC as long as you use your head, don't try to be macho, respect the bike, and take a safety course. Thank you for stopping by to check the video out. I appreciate it.
I was stressing about releasing this haha. Now I am stressing about my seat install video to edit/release and my bar install video to edit/release haha.
That sounds like a solid program to become a great rider !!!! Enjoy !! Good call to keep totally objective !!! I was sure that I subscribed to your channel before and I just looked at this video and saw I wasn’t. So just resubscribed once again. Cheers.
Hey there, thank you for the kind words. The official color is Radar Blue. It was for the 2021 limited. I see the 2022 has Deep Water Blue this go around. A few shades darker then mine. I am hoping to start back up in spring 2023. Life kind of got busy half way through the 2022 riding season and had to stop making videos. Thanks for stopping by.
