What's going on people of the Internets.

The channel is going to be based around Motorcycle Content. The majority of the stuff will be on a 2021 Indian Chieftain Limited, but I hope to be able to show other bikes as well. I want to travel and meet other people who have the same passion. Most of all have fun and keep it entertaining for everyone so they enjoy it as much as I do.

Cheers all

I'm a novice and just curious now that you've done the job. Do you have to remove the saddlebags or is that just to get it out of your way and make it easier?
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 4 месяца назад
Hey there, thanks for the question and for checking out the video. You will need to remove the bags for 2 reasons. Makes it easier to slide the slip-ons on and off, and there is a bolt on each side of the bike that is darn near impossible to get at unless the bags are off. You can do it, but more hassle than removing the bags and putting them back on. I hope this helped, you got this. Ride safe.

Hey there I was just wondering what you thought of the saddle and seat after having it for about a year.
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 4 месяца назад
Thanks for the question. It is still a pretty stiff seat, but it is better than it was brand new. It is miles better than the stock seat. In the 2023 riding season, I met up with my wife's uncle who was 3-3.5 hours away. Never bothered me once. The only time I was off the bike was to get gas/food or if the uncle needed to stop to go to the bathroom/have a smoke. Over all, I am happy with it. As I mentioned in the video, only 2 things I would change, shorten the wiring and not so tight at the front of the seat where it meets the tank. Due to it being so tight, I am unable to use the provided rain cover that came with the seat. Ride safe and thanks for checking out the video.

@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 7 месяцев назад
Hey there, From my understanding, you can, but you will need to change the bolts on the sissybar so the head of the bolt is flatter. This way, it does not wreck the material on the seat. Thanks for the question and for checking out the video.

@@cyberta644 I looked at the site, and it does not give me any measurements so I can not give a definitive answer. Will it rub taking it off and putting it back on? Hey there, I am 5'5" and they were great in the summertime, but my hands were cold in the spring/fall colder weather. You can either get gloves for the colder weather or just get some ROX bar risers; that way, the factory bars get lifted and pulled back a bit. That's what I ended up doing this fall. Thanks for checking out the video and leaving a comment.
@meledge55
@meledge55 9 месяцев назад
Thanks. How much does it move the bars, do you have a pic, was instal reasonable? Thanks again
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 9 месяцев назад
@@meledge55 Adding the ROX bar risers is a lot easier as all you have to do is cut the zip tie in the fairing to have more cable, undo the 2 bolts that hold the bar clamp on, undo the 4 clamp bolts, put the bar riser on, put bolts back on, then bar into the bar riser and put bolts back in then adjust to where you want them and tighten everything down then zip tie the rest of the harness back up. I will try and get a picture or 2 for you. They moved the bars back enough that I have a good bend in my arm now and they are a bit higher than stock bars which is what I was looking for. Wish I would have just done the ROX risers to start with.

Hi. I like your Videos. I am from Sask but live in Alberta now. I have one Question for you. I have a 2019 Indian Chieftain DH and I got the ClimaCommand Syndicate Seat, and its not compatible with my bike and is not working right. So I was wondering if i can wire it up like you did? will it work?
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 10 месяцев назад
Hey there, Thanks for checking out the video. You should be able to. The only thing is that if there are more than 2 wires (for heat/cool function) you may have to put the 2 positives (heat/cold positive) together and the 2 negatives (heat/cold negatives) together in a 2-pin harness similar to what I did. As long as the heat and cool both have on/off switches. I do not see why you couldn't. I was looking at the seat, and it looks like the heat/cool has 2 switches (1 for the driver, and 1 for the passenger). They are separate wiring harnesses for the switches, but they both plug into a board. The board, in theory, should have just a positive and negative wire to supply power to the switches. I was looking at your bike does not work with the ride command. 2020+ can use the ride command to control the seats with an additional harness. I hope this helps you out. Stay safe.
@bikerbrass7533

@@SaskRiderMoto thanks for the help. If I got the additional harness do you think it would work with my bike or not?
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 10 месяцев назад
@@bikerbrass7533 Going by the install guide, as long as you get harness 2415036 it should give what you need to connect the seat without splicing it. Now I am only guessing at this as the tab that says designed for is 2023, 2016-2018 Chieftain Dark Horse. It skips 2019, but again the install guide says it will work with 2019 chieftain (shouldn't matter if DH or LTD). Let me know what you end up doing and how it works out. Cheers

@@SaskRiderMoto thanks I tryed that plug but I don't have the plug that matchs under my seat. So my next option is to hard wire in my own plugs in. I am just wondering what wire that you used to wire it to? If you have a picture or something
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 10 месяцев назад
@@bikerbrass7533 At 2:33, you can see the factory plug I removed. It is a little 2-pin harness. Then, if you go to 6:20, you will see the plug I connected to the factory wiring. I used a female plug on the bike side and a male plug on the seat side for connections. You can get pretty much any plug you want off of Amazon, just make sure that it is a weather-sealed male/female harness. The one I used is E-TING 5 Kit 2 Pin Way Car Waterproof Electrical Connector.

@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for checking out the video and leaving a comment. Overall I like it. The rain cover it came with did not fit due to how close the front part of the seat hugged the tank. It has broken in a bit but is still pretty firm. I can ride way longer than with the stock seat (which is a good thing). When it rains or you wash your bike, the seat holds some of the water. I assume that is the price you pay when you get a heated seat. Just sucks getting off the bike and it looks like I peed myself lol. 2 things I wish Saddleman did differently. Make the wires shorter and have the ability to lock the backrest in so someone can't walk by and grab it. Take care.

Then we went to Sturgis (which we also do every year) and finally back home. 6 weeks, 30 states, 17000km - it was epic. If you do Key West, permit me to give you some unsolicited advice - the traffic on the eastern seaboard is brutal and scary, so stay on the west cost of Florida.

I had it laying on the side just like at 9:42 of the video, then hooked the wires up to the bike, zip-tied the wires to make it half-decently neat, then slid the seat back on. I screwed in the back bolt, just an FYI as well, with this seat you do not use the side bolts and it is very tight sliding it on the bike by the tank. Since we still have snow on the ground here, when it warms up a bit I am going to take the seat off and shorten the wires. They are just too long and take up a lot of room under the seat. There are people who buy Captain Itch (I think that's what it is called) to go under the seat and cover the rear cylinder due to heat and why others decat their headers to get more exhaust flowing and cool the engine a bit more. Then there are others that are fine with the heat and say it is not that noticeable. If I could go back and do it over again, I would probably choose the Challenger/Pursuit. More power in stock form and liquid-cooled so it is not as hot. At the time I was not overly fond of the looks of the Challenger when I got the Chieftain. The one thing I will say though is I love the sound of the Air Cooled loap when you get a different slip-on exhaust on it. On really warm days 25C-36C (77F-97F) I feel the heat coming through my seat. It is not super hot but makes me check to make sure the heated seat never got turned on somehow, that's how noticeable it is. Also depending on what way the crosswind is when riding around in the city, will depend on which inner thigh is getting warm. Overall I am happy with the Chieftain, but in hot weather in stop-and-go traffic, I turn the bike off at long lights or train crossings while my son just laughs and lets his liquid-cooled bike run at the lights. Thanks,
@bobberboss

@@SaskRiderMoto ….i truly appreciate your input….i have a scout bobber and could not be happier…but air cooled engines have always scared me for the reasons your describing. I love everything about the Chieftain…except for the heat concern. Thank you again!

Did the stock wires in the handlebars work on the higher bars, or did you have to buy extensions? Also, I have a 2021 also, and the first thing I did was change that lousy brake peg they give you instead of a pad. I also put on a Freedom medium smoke windshield. Looks great and great customer service, they answer the phone. Thanks for the vid.

Hey Tim, Thanks for checking out the video. Clutch, brake, internal wires all stock no extension. I put the Kuryakyn spear pad on the brake and shifter. I am going to switch shields this winter. Going to go with the Freedom 14" clear or light grey and give it a go. John from Freedom has answered all my questions.

Is the passenger seat suppose to be slanted rearward like that? Nevertheless really nice seat up!!
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto Год назад
The only way for it to be totally flat would have to add spacers to lift the back up and then spacers where the bolt screws in. That is my thoughts anyways, I could be wrong. Thanks for the comment and stopping by.

I've been thinking about this same seat. How do you like it so far?
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 2 года назад
So far I have been enjoying it. The seat has allowed me to ride long before I start getting sore. It is a stiff seat but still soft if that makes sense? I can't see why it wouldn't allow me to do 6-10 hour day rides. I am hoping to test this in a couple of weeks as I am meeting a family member 3 hours away and riding back with them. so that will be roughly 7-8 hours of riding. I have used the heated feature probably 6 times since I installed it. The high and low settings work great (love this feature). There are a few things I have found that I do not like about it. 1) The backrest does not lock in place. So if you go somewhere and leave the backrest in the seat, someone can come and grab it and pull it out. This has made me leave it at home the days I commute to work. 2) The S stitching on the seat is starting to wear after just over 3000km. It is showing wear and starting to fray. This is most likely due to the way I sit but still, it should not be doing this for a $1500 seat. They should have put the S logo on each side of the seat instead. 3) this does lift you up 3/4" so if you are short like me this may be an issue or may not be. If I was in the market for a new seat, would I get it again? Probably, but I would also seriously look at the Ultimate seat as well but I think it is a bit wider and with my short legs I did not want to sacrifice my legs reaching the ground any more than I had to. The main thing that drew me to this seat was the colour-matching stitching. Thanks for the comment. Anything else let me know and I will answer what I can for you.

Nice video buddy, I just want to point out you never mention the longer clutch cable required for the Indian bars. Also I too had the same shield as you and changed to a clear Freedom. I stayed away from the etching as it seems it would be a distraction the times you need to look through the shield, just my opinion.

Thanks for stopping by. I am still using the stock cable. I added the note to the description section. Thanks for pointing that out for me. I am trying to decide on the clear or very light tint. I am also trying to figure out whether 14" or 16" going by what their site says for measuring. 15" would have been perfect for 2" below the line of sight all the way down and 1" above looking through. I never thought of the etching being a distraction...... Nice mention, thanks.

Is this seat water resistant?
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 2 года назад
First off thanks for stopping by the channel and watching the video. I appreciate it. I have washed my bike 2 times since I have had the seat and both times I wiped off the top of the seat when drying the bike and when I get on, my pants do not get wet when sitting on it to pull into the garage. That being said I am not sure what it would do if you road in downpours for an extended period of time. The seat does come with a rain cover, but I found it useless as it will not hook under the front of the seat between the seat and tank so I have not used it. I looked on their site and they quoted this: Unlike most foam that has open holes at the surface, Saddlemen’s Profoam actually has an abrasion-resistant skin that resists water intrusion. This barrier is engineered to form during the molding process and protects the microcellular foam core from breaking down, which is common with many OEM and aftermarket seats. So I can't fully answer your question. I asked others before and most people tell me they just ride it and do not bother covering it up. I have not had this long enough to truly answer your question with a definite yes or no. Sorry. Thanks,

Well i have both the indian passenger sissy bar (ordered it when bought bike and now a king tour pack. Bought it off of ebay as the indian one was waaaaayyy too much money, as was the mounting rack. Had mine custom fabbed in Red deer. Biggest thing for me was speaker pods in pack as Springfield had no stereo. Can Bluetooth to the amp now. All in about 700 for pack and mount. Advan black is now making indian mounts with thier pack and will color match. Just seen a video on ride with two indians on it the other day. As for exhaust i am running Rush war horse with 2.5 baffles. I like the sound good comprimise between asshole and stock. Wife had Rhineharts when she had a springfield and i really liked the sound of those. Deep rumble.

If you were in my position, It sounds like you would go with the Tour Pack then? I like the fact of having the tour pack to put my helmet in if I am running into the store or going to go eat some where. I have bluetooth in my helmet so I do not use the stereo in my fairing. That might change some day, but I like listening to the music in the helmet as I am not loosing as much sound compared to speakers. Thanks for the support.

Yes id go with the pack. More options, storage, passenger, ect....still is removable. Once you are done with graduated licence program and you het a half shell you will have a hard time going back. I only wear a full face when riding with wife so we can communicate. Nothing like the breeze on a warm day!

@@SKindianSpringfield Ya I have until Sept 2024 before I can think about going to a half shell. For now only 3/4, full or modular. I understand why they have the program, but frustrates the hell out of me for the restrictions haha. Also the restrictions stop me for doing test ride videos until 2024 😢
