💭 After my maiden ride on my custom 2022 Indian Chief, or at least the longest, I’d find a major issue caused by my own doing. It would involve pulling back some covers to find the problem and learning from my mistakes to fix it.

There is a difference between the transmission going BOOM and just taking a nap!! As long as you can travel in gear, you can still get there!! BOOM means you get to trailer it.😅😅

The Boom was for dramatic effect, but totally agree.

Good job! The Thunderstrokes transmissions are bullet proof, just like the engine is.

Use paint markers, make a mark on the bolt heads when you put locktite on, and a different color when you torque, then you have a non questionable visual.

I have to say, that shift mechanism looks a little janky. I feel you on the snap ring pliers. I have spent the past 30 years buying cheap ones because I rarely needed them but when I did I was always frustrated with the cheap ones breaking. Last year I bought a set of ICON snap ring plier set. They worked great and then went back into the tool box to sit for another several years until I need them again.
@BrandonBicasso

I now have a set of ICON as well. Love them! Shift mechanism may look jank but it’s reliable when installed correctly. 🤘🏾

I noticed the alignment of your handlebars is slightly off as well. It is lower on the left hand side. Look at it when you line up the two forks

Great video man. Question I have is does the compression sleeves on your arms stop your hands from going numb when riding? I notice after a few miles my hands go numb while riding.
@BrandonBicasso
@BrandonBicasso 2 месяца назад
Yes, they help with circulation so could possibly help reducing numbing caused by a lack of circulation. Affects everyone else differently but when it’s hot out on a vibrating engine, it helps.

Did you have to adjust the clutch cable at all? My engagement point / friction zone is all the way at the end of the clutch travel. Noticed this on my friends chief as well. Is there a fix ?
@BrandonBicasso
@BrandonBicasso 2 месяца назад
I only set the cable to the free play spec. That's the only place to adjust the clutch system on Thunderstrokes. If it's biting too far out, I would check the free play using a tape measure and try adjusting it. I also run stock plates/cable too so could be different if using an aftermarket solution.

@@BrandonBicasso it’s a brand new bike. It’s something the dealer should be able to handle for me (I hope). Also I scored a deal on an Indian air cleaner. The round one. Is it something easy to install for a beginner like myself or should I leave it to the dealer to do it? Tech asked $250
@BrandonBicasso
@BrandonBicasso 2 месяца назад
Oh yeah you could totally install that yourself. If it doesn't come with a calibration card, just bolt it on. The card is used to flash the ECM with a new tune. Won't hurt anything if you install it without, but would run better with it. And it's probably adjusted at the edge from factory. It can be adjusted for a bit more free play.
@Ramibiker2023chief

@@BrandonBicasso thanks man. You’re literally my go to guy for all things Indian. I’m getting a lloydz tune once I get that air cleaner on. Already have a set of stage 1 Indian slip ons installed so was just waiting to build the courage to go for the air cleaner install myself! Thanks again brotha
@Ramibiker2023chief

@@BrandonBicasso hey one more thing. So I already have stage 1 Indian slipons, would it be safe to add the air cleaner with that on the stock factory tune (temporarily). I am getting a lloydz tune in a month or 2. Just worried I’d jack the engine up if it’s too much flow. I know they run these engines hella lean from the factory
