First Ride On My 1985 Honda Big Red ATC!

After installing the EH custom stainless exhaust there was only one thing left to do, enjoy my first trail ride on the 1985 Big Red! We start out popping some wheelies around the property and getting used to the torque that this old three wheeler has to offer. As you can hear in my voice I was having the time of my life, this trike is a blast from the past and really takes you back to the 80's. I even pull off the headlight to show you a little quirk that was intended for farmers to light up their work space. The 250ES was running great so I decided to take it on its maiden voyage and head down to the river trail to break it in.

You should definitely keep it. I grew up around my grandpa’s ATC, and I’ve always loved those things. Three wheeler content is always welcome.

I am the same way. I have had 2, 1970 Nova's and currently a 68 Mustang coupe and i have always used my cars as what they are.....Machines to be used, not put on a shelf and admired. So many old farts my age and older wont drive their cars and forget it was Driving the Cars that gave them all the joy. I drive my shit Year round....and at the time of having my 2nd 70 Nova (350 Built ! ), i drove it throughout the winter time, living 20 minutes outside the City of Chicago. Classics and Hotrods are meant to be USED and when they get bad....Fix'em up again.

My first off road vehicle was a new 1984 Honda atc 70 when I was 6. I absolutely loved that thing! Still have it and it still runs and looks pretty nice. I don't understand how they were labeled death machines. If you respect what you ride and drive and know your limitations you should have no problem.

They were labeled death machines because idiots got their hands on them like anything else and did stuff you weren't suppose to do. You get a few careless morons on something they ruin it for the rest of the people who actually know how to ride them properly. I love three-wheelers, I learned how to ride on my fathers 185S. I currently have an 85 KLT 110 in need of some tlc. I'd like to get my hands on a larger Honda. Sadly people around here think they have gold and ask way too much for them in poor condition. :)

I had I had one of these back in 19 89 I think and I put a makeshift plow on the front of it to plow someone to driveways in my neighborhood it was awesome some of the best times of my childhood

the first gear is called super low and then the one above is considered first. ride safe man very clean unit you got also the 250es will go 55.

Great video I have 3 running Honda Big Reds 2 1985s and 1 1986 250ES ATC Big Reds also 1 parts bike 1 spare motor in my parts inventory. I have a 1986 Honda 250 SX ATC that's a different animal all together with a almost mint 1984 Honda 200s ATC long live the ATC I'm an 80s vintage kid.

Don't sell those tires short. They may not do very well in the mud, but they are AWESOME in the rocks in Taylor Park. Keep the stainless look on the muffler. It will never look as good painted black.

Had a 110 back in the day. Good on trails unsteerable in the brush. Cracked a helmet on a tree when I forgot to shift my weight.

You should learn to ride with one or two knees on the seat. Its kind of how you are saposed to ride. Two feet on the pegs when it rolls back on you vs just stepping off the side. Not to mention keeping your feet dry. Helps a lot with weight distribution

Put it in second gear, hold up on the shift lever rev a little and let down on the shifter, that’s how you clutch these

I am trying to get my hands on an ATC and just wondering if anyone knows how to wheelie? Do you have to be in a certain gear? Do you need to lean a certain way? Any answers help, thanks!
