I’ve got this bike full exhaust , Ecu flash with tune. Located in Austin if you’d like to see what this bike can really do. Still not an S1000 but cool for content ! Lol
Evilsizer82 Ya ! Haha I had one of those moments where you spit your drink out in shock because I realized finally in one video that he was passing a highway exit that I take to go home 😂😂
Makes me incredibly happy that my bike cradled your butt nicely... I'm so proud 🥰 Haha but on a serious note, thanks for trading bikes and giving me the honor of riding the S1000RR! I really enjoyed your input on the cbr, very interesting! Thanks so much man, you look good in red! ❤️🖤
On the 1000rr(dot)net, or cbr1000 facebook page, look up RC45/Paul Kingsley and have him work on your ECU, he has the HRC sport kit unlock AND pulls the most power out of the CBR. He is by far the best ecu/flash shop for Honda, and has MANY connections in HRC/TenKate Racing. He has pulled well over 200rwhp on some of his 2017+ CBR's(because he has at least 4 of them).
any tune shop that tunes the bike only in one power mode doesnt know what they are doing, and the SC77 platform needs a lot of ECU work. It is laced with restrictions. Pauls the only one that properly tunes all the modes and can do engine work the way Honda's official race team does it. He even built a 1:1 FiM SP2 WSBK spec at his house lol
Dunno where you're seeing these folks but e everyone seems to love the look of these. I have a 2020 CBR650R which looks very similar to this. I've had it 1 week and I keep getting stopped by bus drivers and just random people admiring it. Most people love the look of these bikes out in the real world. On the internet... eh who cares . Just trolls anyway
My only two complaints are the exhaust (which will likely be changed) and the paint- too much going on, when it’s a solid color you get to enjoy all the curves

the 2017 fireblade is throttle by wire. If you are using a lower power mode it’s quite tuned down on acceleration which may explain the lag you mentioned. The 2019 model got upgraded electronics which helped cured some of those issues. The brakes are definitely better than the r1 which suffers from fade.
Good to know! That's so weird. Didn't feel like it was at all. Glad to hear it's been improved. Do you know if ECU flashers have been able to improve the responsiveness of it on the earlier models?
@@motonosity 2019 ECU is the same as 2017/18 with regard to control. The throttle response is soft in Mode 3 and Mode 2. It is quicker in Mode 1, but is still very nerfed due to the restricted nature of the tune Honda applied to bike to pass US EPA Noise requirements. A properly tuned ECU will transform the bike from its current form to a bike you would be hesitant to ride in full power mode on the street. Let me know when you boys are ready to try out some properly setup Fireblades in Texas.
2017 SP owner here... That bike is fly by wire throttle... what you are feeling as delay in throttle is torque control but mostly its stock fuel/throttle mapping + stock exhaust valve. Unrestricted exhaust with a fuel map + TC on 0/1 and that all goes away.
I purchased my 2018 Cbr1000rr couple month ago. The bike is solid and feels like a surgical knife. Only tidbit is the restriction on the power i ride mine P1/T0/E2 definitely will be gettn the kinks worked out for next season when i start making video's. All around happy with Honda. bike is comfortable enough to not over Exacerbate my pain aswell as give plenty of confidence in whatever you want the bike to do. Just needs bigger screen and heated grips stock Brembo breaks would be nice 👌
I know I'm late to the party, but a few of things... It's an electronic throttle - and even if it wasn't, a well put together cable throttle will generally be more responsive as you have a direct mechanical connection to the throttle bodies. It's lighter weight (in stock configuration) that anything else in it's class - not just on the scale, but also where the weight is distributed. The electronic engine breaking can be adjusted - level 1 is VERY aggressive, so I would recommend trying level 2/3. Out of all the 'current gen' bikes in this class, the NA variant of the CBR1000RR is probably the most restricted - a flash will turn this into a completely different machine.
Which liter biker was the most comfortable for you? Wanting to get a liter bike in the future, and my priorities are reliability and comfort. Would really love your input.
I have a 2018 CBR1000RR and I have put over 18,000 miles since I bought it with zero miles. The bike is extremely reliable and after I installed an Akrapovic full exhaust, Dyno Jet Power Commander V, and K&N air filter the bike has better mid-power and top speed. The bike is comfortable in cooperation with other bikes in the class and it dosen.t burn you like the Ducati does.
My question is why can the manufacturers not sell the bikes with the smooth "ecu-flashed" responsive throttle? My 09 R1 is the same with a very "on-off" switch like throttle response, especially at low rpm. Bikes today should come out with buttery smooth throttle responses.
@@motonosity come ride my tuned SP2 so you can feel what the SC77 Honda can be like. We have a number of properly tuned SC77 CBR1000RRs running around Houston - anyone of them will be able to set the record straight with regard to how the bike behaves.
I own a 2018 Cbr1k base model, and you gotta just turn everything down to 1 and traction control turned off by holding down the down arrow till it turns to 0. Then that’s when you unlock that Honda Fireblade powaaa!!!
This is the best looking CBR ever made. I wish there was a perfect bike. Like this CBR's front end + GSXR integrated taillights (prior to 2017) OR newer Yamaha R1's tail
I dont have the measurements on hand but the CBR feels way way better for my 6'1 frame than any of the other 1000 besides Panigale (ZX10r is similar big but I wouldn't buy one etc.). CBR seems to have a touch more room from pegs to bars than R1 and BMW. Kind of what you said about nothing abnormal and being straight forward, I agree with you. I love how the CBR settles on corner, something about it rides really "solid" into corners where as the R1 feels maybe a touch smaller footprint when I am pushing it.
Hey. Great review, I have a black 2017 Blade. FYI - had to read the owners manual, but.. 1 is the most engine braking, 3 is the least. Hope that helps. For power 1 is the most, and for traction 1 is the least. Confusing I know!
Disconnect the servo for a proper sound, excellent track and all around street bike. I own one and a tuned Ducati V4 with exhaust. Most days I’m more comfortable on my honda for daily driving
Honda restricted the CRAP out of this bike with stupid restrictor plates on the intake tubes as well as a US spec ECU programmed for sapping the power out of the bike EVERYWHERE in the rev range. Once you get a flash and tune this back to the Euro spec tables, pull the restrictor plates off the intakes, and an exhaust; it will become a completely different animal
Nice bike Motonosity.Keep up the good videos!!Hunter must have been going 90mph.When he went past you.I dare you to split lanes on the highway.Go for it on the Mexican toll road.I'm pushing you to do some hooligan riding.Just be careful.I don't want you crashing.Peace and Happiness!!!
Why didn't you switch from B mode to the highest performance mode to see if that fixes the throttle response. Seems like that may have been the issue. I have owned 2 honda supersport bikes and throttle response has been great. So it seems odd that the most powerful honda yet, would have bad throttle response.
The things you said are the exact reasons I ended up selling my 17 and deciding to try out a naked (2016 s1000r, which is a perfect bike and you should try and get a ride in on one) only thing you didnt mention was insurance. They got me for 2600/year for full and the s1000r is 700/yr for full. Aside from that, I probably could have made the bike perfect by dumping some money into mods but why bother at that point if youre starting with an uncomfortable platform you aren't enjoying and crazy insurance? The bike had a massive amount of vibration to the point it sucked to ride for more than 30 mins, no quickshifter abs or brembos standard. Twitchy throttle (which is actually electronic ride by wire btw and you were also riding in the highest engine braking setting, level 3 is the least engine braking), came with a m4 exhaust which I absolutely hated which fucked up the midrange even more, and overall the bike desperately needed a flash. Again, all fixable things, I just didnt see it as being worth the money.
Come to Cali and ride my gsxr with a luimoto seat cover and gel insert. You can knock it off your bucket list. My bike is still needing a blue reservoir cover.
I just bought 2020 cbr1000rr-r sp it's actually a nice street. Under 8k rpm, it's nice and chill very easy to ride on the street but above pure insanely. I never own 2017 model but i rode one and I didn't like anything about it. Ironically I actually don't like the track performance of the cbr1000rr-r sp out of the box. The gears are way too tall and after hard braking, you get into a "chill mode" and it takes a second or 2 to get out of it which affects the enjoyment and the lap times. I had 2018 r1 before the CBR which actually feels better and faster on the track.
Motonosity: If you ever road test a Suzuki, keep this video in mind! Brand new Gixxer crashed ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q9zNUPDmnz4.html
Weak, get you a tuned SP model, THEN youll have fun. Better blipper than the bmw and the yamaha. I like A1 suspension for the road(ohlins baby) and M2 for the track set up, and grip angle is the BEST because you can see what degree grip you have on the throttle. So when you are on track and someone is like "you gotta give it about 1 degree more throttle in that corner" - THAT is what they are talking about. Also THREE is lowest engine braking, NOT ONE. And it is an electronic throttle, but it needs a GOOD flash because Honda has neutered the power out of the box.
@@motonosity does this bike CB R 1000 needs ECU flash, I'm thinking power comes in after 5500/6500 rpm, untill the it lurches/doesn't perform good on streets your thoughts on that
I had 2018 r1 and my friend and riding buddy owns 2017 zx10rr. And these bikes are very different from each other. R1 is very sharp and track performance-focused. zx10rr is feeling lazy and more relaxed. I personally don't like zx10, besides long straight line racing it's a pretty mediocre bike it doesn't steer quickly and on the heavy side of the superbikes and lacks the power in lower rpm it needs 3 seconds on the throttle to come online. zx10 just don't have the ferocity of the superbikes in lower rpm but after 10k it turns to a monster.
@@Fearless154 I have an 18 ZX10r. I've heard a lot of ppl describe the R1 as sharp. The 10r is definitely a bike that likes the higher rpms but I think it makes it more dramatic when it comes alive. I think it tips over nicely but im also a bigger guy so maybe that helps.
@@blazerman24 I don't get me wrong zx10 is very good handling bike but I'm comparing it directly to the r1 which feels lighter and more nimble I'm 6.4 tall so I'm not a small guy by any means I was riding zx14 before getting the r1 so I have no issues with heavier bikes. Also, there is nothing more "dramatically" than r1 under hard acceleration from Japanse trust me. But r1 is by far the lamest street bike. R1 doesn't like lower rpm cruise and the throttle is very snappy riding on the street zx10 is much better.
@@Fearless154 that may be where the 10r strikes the better balance. I've personally never rode an R1 but every review I've seen mentions how it's super nimble and an absolute track monster yet is relatively unpleasant on the street. The 10r is a pretty livable street bike all things considered. I do agree with you that below 8k, the is probably a little too docile compared to other litre bikes.
@@blazerman24 Yes absolutely. I would say zx10 is one of the best superbikes for the street. I feel very comfortable riding it and I actually loved more than my old zx14. And it's very decent track bike too, R1 is just more dedicated for track duty while ignoring the street performance.
