What do you guys think that noise is? More to come on this quad! Please SUBSCRIBE and LIKE the video if you enjoyed! It helps me out a lot! Thank you guys for all the support!
You should check the upper motor mount bracket (to the frame). Thoses bolts tend to break, maybe it can cause that noise. Might as well check the others motor mount.
Dynojet jet kit + air box mod + duncan racing fat boy exhaust = unbelievable amounts of power out these things. These 660's are very air restricted, so opening up both exhaust and air intake with the added fuel from the jet kit makes em insanely powerful.
thats what i was wondering. my nuddies just got ahold lof a raptor 660 tht we none of the history on other then it has an intake and exhaust and is a lot crazier than the one in this video. his wheelies first second and 3rd gear with just a crack of the throttle. thisone seems so tamed
I bought an 04. I love these quads. I’ve been messing around with the sprockets times get some more speed. Right now I’m running 16/41. Had it up to 82 but can go a bit more. Not enough power to push it. I lost some when I swapped sprockets. Once I install my exhaust, new air box, and jet kit should do over 90. My only complaint with the quad is the power. Not enough in my opinion. But I’m fixing that.
I can run 110 on my 2001 Yamaha Raptor 660R but mine ain't stock mine has a Yamaha 600 twin snowmobile engine my only complaint is there's usually not enough space to open it up all the way but when you do you better hang on
@Matt Wilson if that's not enough build a snowmobile powered quad you will have all the power you want I have a 2001 Yamaha Raptor 660R Yamaha 600 twin snowmobile engine my wife has a Yamaha motor 4 350 our son has a 50cc ATV we have a UTV side by side my dad has a 2001 Polaris Trail Boss 325 Yamaha 570 twin snowmobile engine and a Buggy for him and mom my brother has a Honda 300ex stage 2 hot cam and t4 pro circuit exhaust and a Single Seat Buggy our other brother has a Suzuki Quad runner 250 his wife has a Manco Dingo off-road go kart we have 6 off-road mowers for backup and for friends and family if they don't have anything to ride
God that thing sounds so bad with stock exhaust😬 Ps you should focus on hitting that balance point then hitting the break quick rather then trying to go for distance it will help you with distance eventually
Not true rod knock could only happen with a load on it or beyond idle.. same with bad cam noise ... but it sounds like a metal bracket somewhere rattling or a brake lever or something.. its to inconsistant to be engine :)
Take the heat gun and where you have the white stress marks on the plastic put some heat on the backside of them and it will make them not look as bad, just make sure you don't put the heat gun too close or hold it too long so the plastic won't melt, also your vibration might be your headder pipe heat shield is loose
I'll tell you what raptor fenders can take a beating. I always see 660s with mad stress marks but never broke. I rolled mine 5 times before destroying the frame and just about everything else. But the fenders still look pretty good even after 20 years.
@@kdcustoms1272 yeah they can, thats why atv fenders are plastic, I used to race flat track on mine when I bought it in 01 i hit a wall going about 50 and broke my femur, did about 150,000 in hospital bills to me and only arond 6 or 700 of damage to the atv, it tore the atv up but was just simple things like a arms on one side and radiator things like headlights etc, the plastic was creased and had to race cut but i could still use it, ended up buying new plastic from yamaha down the road
Mines did that and as I expected it was the skid plate . I put some rubber to help bolt down to frame and yes it was great to not hear anymore lol check it out
check the plastics at the foot pegs. and the plastics at the front tighten all of them with bolt and nuts and your rattling sound will go away. other than that you can change the exhaust also usually makes that noise from factory
To remove the stress marks on the plastics go over it with the heat gun it will help bring back the blue and top it off with some SC1 Will look good as new
I had one of these. Never made that noise. It was very fast. Not as fast as my Cannondale cannibal 440 though. Put the Yamaha gytr full exhaust on it. I had it. Sounds awesome!
@@Yng_Gaell yeah thats not normal.. Hope its something just loose. But I wouldnt ride until I figured it out. Unless you dont care if it grenades. Check skid plates, mounts, exhaust bolts and heat shield inspect the frame for cracks.
Is it a rock guard on the engine base? Loose bracket or motor mount? It sounds superficial fortunately, not something inside the motor. Anxious to see what you find.
That vibrating noise sounds like the skid plate, I had that happen to my raptor I took it off and the noise went away. I would take it off to see it's easy enough. It might also be the one way bearing for the starter.
@Quirin M. it may but my banshee beats my brothers raptor 700 7 out of 10 times but his is stock and mine is big bore kit with aftermarket pipes and rejetted
A banshee with intake, exhaust, ported and tuned will smoke most raptors. Just that puts a banshee at around 60-70 HP. Cost a lot for a raptot to make 70hp.
Needs +×+ pro armor bumpers, heel guards, full skid plate, and a fmf full exhaust and muffler, k&n hi flo filter, blingstar case saver, 1' riser for the bars, set of good pro taper bars, and it might be a good bike then. Look for a nice set of dwt rims with beadlocks, there are nice sets used!!!!amsoil forever you know.Sounds like the exhaust cover rattling,
@@Billy-Boggs Curtis sparks has been dyno proven to be the most powerful single exhaust with the best power curve . there was a old dirt wheels shootout with like 15 different exhaust. Sparks and CT racing made the most HP.. Trinity racing was like 3rd highest HP I actually have a full trinity stage IV exhaust I need to sale. My old youtube channel was akshooter762 has a video of the startup. And shows a good look of it. The trinity exhaust is better for big engine builds that have more top end. It's a long tube header.
Used machines have doubled since the pandemic you stupid Fools! Plus he makes Content with his Bikes...Why comment if you have no clue...that Raptor would go 3k easy in NY! Look into it...before you wanna call someone out
Anytime your changing the brand of oil .. ALWAYS change the filter because different oils have different cleaning adititives in them so your new oil can knock all the crud build up loose and then your screwed because the old filter was already full of crap..
That vibrating metal sounds like it could be the exhaust baffle tube.. when the exhaust packing wears out the tube inside the muffler can rattle take a rubber hammer and go around with the quad shut off and tap on everything til you hear that same sound
3yrs ago payed $3500 for my "Beast", 660 Raptor, decent shape, no problems. Except! The Beast threw me, dislocated my shoulder, hurt way more than ouch!
Maybe the needle position is too high so the fuel is taking too long to get in there . Probably needs a jet kit too. The pro circuit pipes sound amazing . The slip on . If you can find a used one . If you really want a fast quad you have to get the yfz450 fuel injected or the 700 raptor fuel injected . Or a 2006-2014 TRX450R . But the suspension is gonna be stiffer than a dog .
If you want a fast quad? Lol anything can be made fast it just depends how deep your pockets are. I have rode a 80+ HP raptor 660 build. Not sure of the actual size at least 719 I'm sure.
I don't care what they say the raptor 660r is unique in its own way and I love the 700r to the fullest but the 660r was a diamond in the dirt that no one really ever grave credit for
wow,,,!! U are so damn lucky living where u do,,, i cant find anywhere around me to ride n literally have two trailer it to one of a few ATV parks most of which are big-time ripoffs you go broke just trying to ride your quad and you have to do it you know on the weekends whenever you can can't ever just like take an ocean to go ride and hop on your quad and go ride I hate it and I'm not living in a big city either I mean I'm in a down below Charlotte in South Carolina and it's like I mean you can't ride on the pipelines you can't ride you know nowhere anymore anyway I'm not sure where you're at but it's beautiful and you're lucky to be able to get on your quad and just tear out the garage and go ride like that I miss that!!!
You'll get a feel for 3rd 4th and 5th gear to point where you can just feel it out on when to pop the wheelie. I dont do wheelies in 1st or 2nd anymore. No fun
At 16:57 look at the passenger lower a arm close to the frame where the bushing sits. Right underneathe it there is something moving only when you hear the vibration
There's a gentleman on Marketplace selling a 2003 Yamaha 660 (I don't know if it's a 660R) for $1000.00. The add says it starts right up and runs good but leaks oil from the bottom. Maybe just a gasket. I'm thinking about it.
U will double, triple engine life if you ride it easy for a couple minutes to warm up. Nobody thinks about this but I scuffed a piston, that is how I learned.
These are super sick you should scope a 700r those things are deff the fastest iv ever rode man would be sick to see a series of those to like you did with the Hondas ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
Why do you do power wheelies? Go slow in 2nd pop the clutch and let it bring you all the way back to the point where the bar is about to scrape the ground and hit that brake a tiny bit and keep it going.
Sounds like a bolt or piece of packing in the muffler. Maybe it had a baffle and it was removed but the nut dropped down inside. Happened to my old motorcycle when I bought it, same noise.
Juts fixed the rat along on mine there is a little flap inside the exhaust that wears out and gets loose only way to fix it is buy a new pipe that’s what I did and it’s stopped
