Taking the bus out for it’s first good test run to see how it does. 1995 International DT466 5 speed manual. #thomas #schoolie Email: khtractors@gmail.com
Beautiful old bus. They sure don't build em like that anymore. The bus I drove my last 2 years of bus driving was a 1994 international, but with an automatic transmission. Same engine that your bus had though. It was everyone's favorite to drive and they all fought over who'd get it next when I retired. The other difference was that mine had a blue bird body and an air ride drivers seat. Hearing the engine of your old girl made me miss that familiar sound from my beloved old 1994.
@@khtractors let me tell you as a man of 6ft 1. The air ride seat was a life saver. I listened to your old girl hum up the road last night before I went to sleep. Took me back to my driving days. I don't care for IC'S international produces now. They just don't have the beauty or durability the old ones had.
Thanks for sharing that. I’ve seen them setup like your talking, that would be nice! Be sure to email me pictures when you get one. Thanks for watching!
Good morning Ben.The bus seems to be running great. The tree's even without leaves look very beautiful. The curves in the road was almost made me dizzy, but I surely enjoyed the ride and the beautiful scenery.Have a blessed day and stay Safe.Waiting on next video.,🚜💯👏👍❤️🙏
We should start seeing things green up here in a few weeks. I’m definitely ready for spring! Really appreciate you watching and hope you’ve had a good day!
Will Ben, I didn't see any kids waiting for the bus LOL. I love road trips. You could take a lot of friends with you! We have TSC up here, but they changed the name of them to Peavy for some reason. That's a smooth-running bus. I was just thinking, you could pick up a lot of part in that bus lol. Thanks for the road trip.
Definitely no shortage of cargo space when you take this shopping. I’d say Rural King going in here will put a hurt on TSC. The bus ran very well I thought. Thanks so much for watching!
Morning Ben. I was wondering your thoughts while driving that bus on its familiar routes. Imagine you looking in the rear view mirror and seeing your younger self seating in a seat. Life can go by so fast and childhood memories are precious. A Nobel laureate once said that the one thing wisest among us can not do is draw up a list of things that would never occur to us. I imagine your trip, as much as we all enjoyed it, was much more meaningful for you. Thanks for bringing us all along my friend. Enjoy your Sunday.
You know thinking back to riding this bus as a kid it sure doesn’t seem like it’s been 18 years. I think this bus will bring me a lot of personal therapy. I hope eventually the family will start riding with me ever once and awhile. They kinda see it as embarrassing right now. Appreciate you watching!
How's she goin'? Ben you must be pretty happy with how the bus worked. Seems to run nice and the brakes worked well too eh!!! I could tell you were in your happy place setting behind the wheel of this old family friend!!! Take care!!!
That black paint was a great idea. I like that bus so much! Rural King has more selection and often better prices, but my local RK does a horrible job at restocking farm supplies in the correct places. The restock people put top links with the trailer jacks, trailer jacks with the hydraulic cylinders, towing accessories in the wrong aisle, etc. Sometimes they give up and try to hide parts UNDER the gondola shelving or behind other products. Hydraulic rams are often hidden behind the pto shafts. It's frustrating, but I think it's just our local labor, not a company-wide RK issue. It looks like the Benmobile is running well and ready for a big road trip! What's the comfortable cruising speed on the interstate? You're knocking on 4K subs. Great job!
I fear the Rural King in Norton may end up that way as well, but I hope not. The one in Bristol is very nice and well stocked. Management and employees definitely can make or break a store. I think it would run 60-62 max. That’s normal though, my new bus will only run 62. Appreciate you watching old buddy!
Good evening Sir, that bus look brand new to me 👍👌😊 The last time that we had a Texaco stations in Canada, it was when the nationalize the fuel industry back in mid 70's ( so they buy Texaco, Gulf, BP, Sunoco ) to cut the real competition between them ( we had the same fuel quality than in Europe and we had British Gallon back then ) to create Petro-Canada and converting to US Gallon and keep the same price and then to litres and sell the Brand New Form Cie ( Petro Canada ) to foreigner country interested few years later,,, That is how half the fuel Refineries were shut down in Montreal and in the Maritimes too,,, Did you know that All the Petrol ( crud oil ) in Canada is not a part of the national strategic resources like you good folks ??? Ho boy, that we had an OUTSTANDING Prime Minister back then,,, what was is name,,, Pierre Elliot Trudeau,,, OH, wait a minute it is his own son now running the country 😤🙄🥴 Ho dear GOOD God, Save us all 🥴🤣🤭😂👌🍁✨🚀 WHAT you paid 1600 us fond for that bus,,, that just a little over 2040 cnd fond 🥴 Boy are we getting screw here, they still selling 20 yrs old rusty and beat up pick up truck more than 10k, it is so great to be a Canadian 😂🤣🥴🍁 I hope that I make you laugh a little about my not so great sence of humor 🤣😂👍 Great engine sound and fun to see that you have no more snow 👌👍😉 Yep you are doing very good double clutch 👍👌😉 You convert that bus into a very nice camper for traveling 😉👌👍 Very nice road seeing ( I did followed you in google maps ) 👍👌😉 Cheers 🍻
It sounds as if you like your Prime Minister about as well as we do our current President 😆! Really enjoyed the information in this comment Dave, you are a knowledgeable man for sure. Buses sell cheap just because most people don’t see the potential in them or to embarrassed to ride around in one. Not me, I enjoy it. Appreciate you watching and you have a great week!
@@khtractors So Sorry Sir, We Canadian had some bad day's somtimes, and I have an OUTSTANDING MEMORY, Sadly many Canadien Citizen have not a good memory at all on real facts 🥴🙄🤣😂👌 I will be happy to drive an school buse 😉👍 Keep warm mon ami Cheers 🍻👍😉👌
Awesome ride, and I love the sound of that big ol International. I had one of your videos playing, and my wife heard your accent and said "he sounds like one of us (we're from Arkansas)." We really like all of your videos.
You and your family did a really amazing job masking and painting the bus, Ben. Seeing the original yellow under the hood reminded me a bit of the movie Used Cars for some reason LOL. That's such a beautiful drive on the hills and in the curves. Thanks for the ride!
My paint is a little rough just because I first starting trying to roll it on. We are about to finish up the other bus soon. It’s looking really good! Thanks for watching!
we use to have some of the Amtran Genesis International's that had that same motor in them. only problem they ever gave us was the kill solenoid and some starters in 15 years of service. one of the best motors International ever made. no matter how cold it would start.
That trans is like a 4 speed with a granny. Most spicer transmissions are like that. You get a crawl like gear in 1st for hills, take off and idling through the bus pickup line. Only need 1st for maybe 1500 rpms before you grab 2nd
That’s a cool video, but it would be cool with the T444E since this bus that you’re driving is the mechanical DT466, but the T444E belongs to your mom and dad
Good video of the bus, just curious, are they made heavy duty enough to make a flatbed out of them for hauling things like your tractors if you wanted to? Just curious, That would be a lot of work though, and probably cheaper, (labor and steel wise) to just buy a trailer....just thinking out loud...
My preference is a mechanical DT466. The DT360 and DT408 are also good engines. The electronic DT466 is still a pretty dependable setup but the electronics make them slightly more finicky. Thanks for watching!
we have 28 coming up for bid....I can afford to buy one... can't decide. DT466 mechanical injection pump DT466 E T444 T444e Cummins.... I like the sound best of the T444E.."7.3".. all automatics bc of the hills here in Arkansas and none of the Women could drive a manual transmission bus. I do want an Amtran over the Bluebirds or Thomas.. all the Carpenters and Wards have been gone as of a few years ago.. no Waynes or Superiors left in years!!!
