Howdy! My name is Camille and I have a passion for gentling wild mustangs. Wild horses and burros are overpopulated in the western United States, so to keep population numbers from rising, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) periodically gathers wild mustang and offers them for adoption to eligible homes. I train mustangs to make them suitable for domestic lives and to show the world how amazing these underdogs can be. Subscribe to follow along with my mustang journey!

Nice to see. Your horse has so much trust in you in such a short time. Beautifully done.

Most horse owners have NO IDEA how much ground work makes your time in the saddle sooooo much easier 👍👍 There’s no substitute for good ground work if you don’t do it 😂 I promise it will show about the time you least expect it!! Great job if that’s day 7 👌👍👍

My horse is so similar to this guy. He just tries to keep it all together even when something is super scary. For example I took him to an indoor arena for the first time and while he was anxious you could tell he was doing his best to not freak out.

Sometimes it looks like you are not behind the drive-line so he seems confused when you are lunging him and he stops since you seem to be in front of the drive-line. Beautiful horse though. Mustangs are beautiful, and I am so glad you are training them and saving them. You and your little sister do a good job. God Bless and have a great week. Seems warm there, luck you.

Yes, it appears you have to be more clear about where you are regarding the drive line...he is not crisp because you are not clear and crisp..I would say he has a very good temperament... would also suggest going a bit slower and/or breaking the session into multiple...this guy seems like a total sweetheart and kudos to this gal for doing this work...a lot of folks don't have the guts :)

Good work, but you should give him more little breaks between each exercice. (Like after he desingages his hind quarter, stop everything and lower your harms and count 5 sec. before restarting, so he will look for it, it will take you half the time to show him what you want from him; he Would have a gain: the break, no pressure, he will quickly understand what he has to do for you to stop the pressure ). For now, it is like a non stop movement going on....

I agree! And some of the time he wasn't listening because of the dog, and although she clearly knows what she is doing she should've gotten the dog out of there so no one got hurt and ambassador listened better.

He's a little bit confused. When you touch him with the flag on his back, I think he stops because he thinks you want descentisize him, so he stands still. Just saying. Otherwise he's such a smart one. I think he'll be a great and gentle horse to ride. I still can't get over his beautiful colors.

Such a cool horse! That was a really cool exercise with the flag. Someone at my lesson barn has had a mustang for over a year and has only sat on her once. She seems to be more focused on training than gentling. The mustang is super sweet but insanely flighty. She really just needs to work on desensitization I think. Then again I don’t really know that much about training horses. Her owner only works with her like once a month. It makes me so sad because she’s such a cool horse and she’s so smart.

Camille, I did not hear you talk about it so here's my question: Why did you start him with an English rather than Western Saddle? Do you intend to ride him English? Or do you feel he will just think "a saddle is a saddle" and never differentiate the difference?
@lmp8932
@lmp8932 3 года назад
Possibly because the English saddle is lighter for her to move around him and do what she did with it. I'm pretty sure she said that he will be mostly Western trained
@shellyjohnson8491
