Why is there A350 there. Such a beautiful plane and so new. Unless a prototype/testing one.
@bobbyrayofthefamilysmith24
@bobbyrayofthefamilysmith24 4 года назад
It's an early prototype, probably the aircraft that flew the initial certification campaign notice it's in airbus house colours. Such aircraft are difficult to sell to an airline because their spec is different to the product standard aircraft. Usually they are heavier because of all the extra wiring, brackets etc built into it for the flight test equipment and sensor package it carried for the flight test campaign. Later prototypes (5 built for A350) are often closer to production standard and usually sold after the tests are done

@turboconqueringmegaeagle9006
@turboconqueringmegaeagle9006 4 года назад
@@bobbyrayofthefamilysmith24 it is possible to use pyrolysis to revert carbon/Kevlar fiber reinforced polymers into their constituent chemical make up but the energy consumption is a thousand times higher than pumping oil out of the ground so there is no commercial incentive to do so unlike iron or aluminium which represent energy savings when recycled. large objects require being broken up mechanically first which in itself is a far more hazardous process with composites than metals. Add to this the difficulty in repairing composite structures and it is clear why the corpses if slightly damaged Cirrus' are beginning to litter small airfields around the world. If a legacy Cessna gets banged up, we either patch it up or use what we can to keep something else flying and sell the rest as scrap to pay for coffee and biscuits.

As you probably know the entire nose section of the 747F is hinged and swings upward to allow freight to be loaded/unloaded into either the side or the nose (for oversize freight) or pass completely through the fuselage, as with many large freight aircraft. On the A380 an unfortunate design decision placed the flight deck near the center of the nosecone preventing similar modification or making it prohibitively expensive.

This aircraft was only leased by Singapore, it belonged to the Dr. Peters Group, a leasing and financial service for aircraft. Singapore didn't extend the leasing contract, and Dr. Peters couldn't find another customer or this very early aircraft (MSN 003 and MSN 005). The 2nd one is at 1:56 in the video.

Scrap yard is a bit of a misnomer. Bits & pieces, critical equipment, frame and body parts as well as entire sections large and small will be used to keep the in-service planes flying for a long time. Its all part of the industry. They are worth too much to tear them down and recycle just the metal.

It's a beautiful plane, but the wrong plane at the wrong time. Airbus made the gamble that the hub and spoke system would prevail, while Boeing gambled that point to point was going to become the preferred mode of travel. It was a crapshoot that Boeing won only to shoot themselves in the foot with the 737 MAX.

Also sad that QANTAS has sent into the desert / decommissioned Australia’s four adolescent, 747-438 ERs... the pinnacle of the 400 version, these rare beauties, who performed so safely and reliably for 17 years, were dismissed without any true official appreciation or celebration taking place...
