Then it just becomes a case of telling her what she is doing right and what could be better. A lot of these cases aren’t going to be released until they serve probably 75% of their sentence. Then parole has the advantage that their life is controlled so they can be encouraged to behave.

I mean, she's sick. Those are compulsions that she has to live with and probably doesn't want - for obvious reasons. What makes her bad is that instead of being honest with herself and seeking treatment when she could no longer control her impulses, she CHOSE to act on them instead. And that's the criminal part. But, I mean... in the future, if the world is a better place, I hope people like her can feel comfortable seeking that treatment as soon as they can identify their symptoms; or, better yet, that we can have such an early detection system that people can get treatment before their symptoms even emerge. She's a victim, and it made her into a criminal. That should make us sad and angry, but not in the personal way you invested yourself into. That's an incredibly easy, and shallow, interpretation to have. I'd beg you, for the sake of a better society for our children to live in, to start thinking in a proactive instead of reactive way. Getting revenge is easy; preventing problems in the first place takes time, sacrifice, and work.

They were professional, maintained judicial decorum, honoured/honored her right to apply for parole*, then explained that her victims' wishes outweighed her hopes of freedom. She can't claim it was an unfair hearing, so she's not going anywhere fast. * IAW the court ordered terms of her continued incarceration.

Well the premise is to rehabilitate- so continuing to beat someone down makes it harder to grow & try to right your ship. However, sexual crimes have a high rate of reoffending and putting children at risk is just not worth taking the chance on their freedom. IMO made the right choice to deny her parole.

They HAVE to talk to her with respect even if they don't respect her. Either way, they still unanimously denied her.

The parole board should stop their practice of asking for all the good things or changes the offender has made while in prison in the opening of the hearing. How she has spent her time in prison, according to the rules of parole, is reflective of what their actions will be like if released and going forward. so if she got a degree and did good things then the thought is that she'll continue to be productive when released.

She probably got a very good psych evaluation before the trial and the result meant Psychopath....no need for further psych evsluations, Once a psychopath always a psychopath. I am sure she has been evaluated from interest, unbeknown to her.

I worked as an R.N. in the mental health field for 16 years so I know that that evaluation is long, tedious and involved. At any rate, she'd know what their diagnosis was. The bottom line is that she doesn't need to be out in public.

It doesn't take a trained psychiatrist or an RN to see and observe through daily life if an inmate is a psychopath/ psychiatric case or not. Some of the long term experienced wardens and nursing staff and other members of prison staff have an eye that can pinpoint any deviation from the norm, especially after 13 years. That was the kind of evaluation I mean. In point of fact, I was able to diagnose her after only a short time watching the video, no need for long tedious and involved psych evaluation.
