That was a different time. Up until the 90’s it wasn’t uncommon for doctors to make parents “choose” their intersexed child’s gender to make it official on a birth certificate. They believed incorrectly that nurture (how you raised a child) trumped nature (chromosomes/physical/hormonal/brain chemistry). We now know it is so much more complex.

I must admit that I felt a great deal of relief when at 1:55 she recounted the time when she asked her mother in regards to her atypical genitalia, “why didn’t you do something?” and her mother responded with, “It looked okay to me!” Far too many children born with ambiguous genitalia have been surgically altered, at parent request and/or doctor recommendation, to appear either male or female. These procedures frequently lead to negative issues including (but not limited to) painful scar tissue, loss of sexual function and/or sensation, and severe depression. I hate her mother, but it seems she did do one thing right in leaving her genitalia alone! Her being given a hysterectomy because she got her period and her parents wanted her to be a boy is a different matter. That’s inexcusable.

Today I am a loving (and forgiving) husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, commniy member, successful businessman and a Believer. I may also go into the ministry. If you've trusted the gospel of grace for this current dispensation of grace (Ephesians 3), then you are an Ambassador for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), commissioned with a "reconciliation ministry." God tells us His will clearly in I Timothy 2:4, "Who will have all men to be saved, and come unto the knowledge of the truth." Once we trust the gospel, He wants us to come to the understanding of truth according to sound doctrine, which involves "rightly dividing" the scriptures (2 Timothy 2:15). We must separate prophecy from mystery doctrine (Israel's law program from the church the body of Christ's grace program). When you do this, you know what God is and isn't doing. God is not micro-managing our lives. We receive "spiritual blessings" only (Ephesians 1:3) in the dispensation of grace. 2 Corinthians 5 tells us all about our reconciliation ministry. We preach the gospel and propagate Pauline sound doctrine. Paul said, "teach no other doctrine" in I Timothy 1:3. So, God is not going to tell you "His will" for your life because He already told you in I Timothy 2:4 what His will is. However, how you make that happen is up to you. The gospel that saves: Christ DIED for our sins; He was BURIED; He ROSE AGAIN the third day. This gospel is found in I Corinthians 15:1-4. Ephesians 1:13 tells us when we simply HEAR this gospel and trust it, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. Colossians 2:13 says we are "forgiven all trespasses." Colossians 2:10 says we are "complete in Christ." Salvation is a free gift received only by grace through faith because there is "no boasting" (Romans 3:27, Ephesians 2:9). The King James Bible is God's perfectly preserved Word according to His promise in Psalm 12:6-7. Grace and Peace, my Friend.
@darcya.9390
@darcya.9390 Месяц назад
God would not give you a message to tell people they have dirty, filthy hearts. We already all know this. Every single one of us knows this because God gave us all a conscience. How did God tell you that we sinners need to clean our hearts? If it was God, He would have told you to tell people the gospel that saves. No one can clean themselves up; they must trust how that Christ DIED for our sins, and that He was BURIED, and that He ROSE AGAIN the third day for our complete justification. This is the only way a person can get saved - by trusting Christ's death, burial, and resurrection as atonement for their sins. (I Corinthians 15:1-4, Ephesians 1:13, Romans 3:27, Ephesians 2:9). King James Bible.

Her marriage sounded similar to my mother and father's marriage. My mom is a very attractive, hard working, smart woman who stayed with a man who was not faithful and who sat back while she did all of the work. 15 years after they got married, she finally left him and never looked back. My dad blames their divorce on "women's lib"....smh.... The women of that time were bearing and raising kids, working, and doing most of the work at home. We (the younger generations) couldn't endure that life for one day. No wonder this poor woman got so sick. Her ex husbands lack of participation, lack of support and love caused her to carry way too much burden and also caused a lot of pain for his son. Yup it doesn't add up, I knew she was lying when she said she had no vaginal opening just a urethra then said she menstruated. Not possible.

This woman is my new mentor and she gives me hope to continue to battle this horrible cancer that's filling my body. God bless you for your courage, strength and perseverance to face your lifetime of humiliation, fear and personal injury. I will remember you always and will continue to while I'm on this journey of mine. :) With love and kindness I send it your way.

Thank you Richelle and Mark for this incredible interview. I'm glad I got to meet Richelle and hear her life story. She's a true American in every way.

I luv this interview!!! Very moving. What an amazing woman. Thanks so much Richelle and Mark for sharing. A nurse, a counselor, a performer, a missionary, and an abuse survivor. Had zero encouragement from her parents as a child, was raised as the wrong sex, and still went on to do incredible things.

My father was a scientist for NASA , when he was out of town on a Washington DC business trip mom placed me in juvenile asylum for me admitting that I was a homosexual , then when he got home, he got me out of the asylum he presented me with a hermaphrodite beagle from a lab to get the conversation started

Haha that’s a pretty dope story actually. Props to your Dad for being such a G about it Unfortunate you had to go through that initially, seems things worked out okay in the long run though?

I’ve watched dozens & dozens of your interviews & this, by far, will stand out to be the best, most inspiring one of all. I hope she writes a book someday bc her message is clear & concise. What a strong, lovely lady is she. I love your interview style bc you always know when to ask questions & when to just let your subject carry the conversation themselves. There’s a humility in that which makes you so endearing, imho. Thanks so much for a wonderful interview.

I was absolutely captivated by this strong women's amazing story and so impressed at her strength getting through her trials. I felt so sad at how she was treated and the next minute smiling at many of her comments. This interview was so deep, her no nonsense, honest and caring personality really came through.

I sat here, watched this episode, was angry, cried, was thankful for grandparents, admired the fortitude of this beautiful woman and now I just want to give her a hug and protect her. It’s not about me but I am so emotionally drained. She deserves a life full of peace, love, and many. many hugs.

In my humble opinion, Richelle does NOT need protecting. She is no longer that little girl. She is grown, mature, highly educated, and free to be herself. I think it's narcissistic to think she needs you to protect her.

I know 3 intersex people and it was the parents that chose what sex they wanted the child to be, no chromosome testing or see how the child acts or develops. So sad when you know what sex you are but it’s robbed from you. I am so glad she has a wonderful son and that she has done right for many others. I think she will have vip access to the pearly gates when her time is up ❤
