Great pairing!! Looking forward to the Swamp Dragon and the 914 engine builds!! Looks like Darrin is also a killer cook apart from being a killer mechanic! That BBQ looks scrumptious!!
trick is, making sure the casting seams are all smooth, make sure there's no oil on anything, then "gasgacinch" snot every mating surface, all rubber ends, where they touch the nylon tube and head/block, including the slide part (not inside the tube of course!) light silicone would probably work also, never tried :)
Man. That guy had one sweet car. Nice work! Ps...love my $40 hf stand. Lol. I welded the vw adaptor to it for my buggy project. Works super well for the price. It certainly ain’t fancy, but it works well.
Very nice! Just get it right before you make your recording. Not so nice too see plug wires installed and fiddling to start. Looks so nice, could not wait to see the start. Would like too hear a nice exhaust system on your very neat vw. Enjoy your hard work
The black VW dual carburetors of the beetle has been change the advance timing the distributor - Then would you tighten a little on the distributer to the engine? That way while driving it, the distributor will not turn accidently.
VW Darrin - The Mex-beetle sounds good ! CT thats a kick @ss sand blaster you got ! I looked at one yesterday and it takes a big compressor . You could sandblast Rusty . ?!@#$%%%^^&*
Quick question, where did you? Or customer get that rear apron? I'm guessing removable? Would love to get one for my super. Killer bug btw. Love your vids.

@@vwdarrin Thank you sir! It's probably a different model from the one i saw on here too. Anyways, that engine is among the best running i've seen here, but i guess it's no surprise! :)
My FIRST car was a ''73 Super Beetle. Vapor locked the motor... threw some '70 1500cc pistons in it, and beat the crap out of it! Laid rubber in first, second, and solid chirp from third. approx 70 MPG!!! YES 70! (ONLY other change was float bowl vent removed, and timing retarded by ear.) Top speed was 93MPH
None of this sounds true, vapor lock is when the fuel in the boils and the carb doesn't get enough gas to run. It doesn't ruin a motor maybe you are thinking oh hydro locking. Also going to smaller pistons, isn't going to give you enough power to break the tires loose.
darrin.....I live up by the villages here in florida....im looking for a vw bu 68-70.....with good pans and heater channels....do you have one availible or do you know someone....I tried facebook and there is nothing but overpriced junk
