I have loved watching this re-build, and actually think i have learnt a thing or two. I have been riding bikes since 1979. When i got my Suzuki AP50, Rapidly followed By my Suzuki X7 as soon as i turned 17. I knew a few lads back then that had Kettles. Which at the time were out of my league. I did own one for a while in 1990. It was a way of getting back into biking after i promised my new wife i was done with bike after having a big off on my GSXR750 Slab sider. I am 60 years old now and have a KTM 1290 superduke as well as a 2000 Honda Blackbird. But i still have this burning desire to own a Kettle once more. The prices seem to be going up monthly, so better get my act together soon. Thank you again for this series. You made a oldish boy very happy...😁👍
Absolutely beautiful, sounds as crisp a you could ever wish for, its a credit to you. I had one of these when they were a current model. The sound alone brings back some great memories. 👍
Peter you obviously a perfectionist and highly skilled in what you do you have recreated a masterpiece 1976 is the year I left school I have now subscribed to your channel
This is a fantastic series and really made me feel like I want to rebuild a kettle until . . . . . I saw the crazy prices they fetch even for a trashed basket case!!!! 😢😢 I guess I’m going to have to stick to the Triumph Speed Triple RS, fondly remember my GT380 and just fantasize about owning or rebuilding a kettle
Peter great recording as usual. Are you planning, can you provide anything on what you do with the oil injection system. I understand the engine is oiled during assembly but I am interested in pre-lube of the pump, feeding oil down the tubes to the cylinders to get injected oil to the cylinders as soon as possible after start up. Many thanks.........Kevin
Hi Kev I just bleed the oil pump using the bleed screw at the top of the pump, I then jam the oil pump arm open with a rag and run the bike on a remote fuel bottle with 2 stroke oil mixed in the fuel so the engine has oil immediately on start up. By the time a bottle of fuel has been used the 2 stroke oil pump will have pushed the oil through the pipes, but I always check that I can see that the 2 stroke oil has been pushed through !
Man I'm excited to get mine ripping again. My carburetor choke connections and return springs/ throttle linkages are so rusty I'm afraid I might need to replace them, but I can't find a part number for any of it. Do you know if Suzuki ever sold those parts separate?
