The moment you realise that the infrastructure of such a country with a vast amount of potential has been left for dead after a corrupt and shambolic form of government. Bring back the dame attitude Rhodesia had in the 60's and Zim would be the wealthiest nation on the continent.

Rhodesia was the original name, Zimbabwe was Southern Rhodesia and Zambia was Northern Rhodesia. The name comes from Cecil Rhodes. It is a long story but white settlers arrived about a hundred years ago and bought land from the locals and started farming. It eventually became two countries. Most people refer to themselves as Zimbabweans or Zambians. Some whites like to keep the name Rhodesian alive because of fond memories of a great country.

@@harveysmith100 stop revisionism, white people never bought lands. Most was acquired by force. White may have bought it from other fellow whites who took land by force.

At Golden Arches (2:15) in 1979 I observed a terrorist laying a suitcase bomb during an Army/BSAP exercise designed to test the SF and public response to a bomb incident during the Bush War. When I attempted to intervene I was stopped by members of the SF's who were observing the incident to make sure all went smoothly. I was allowed to accompany the SF's during the rest of the exercise - Capt. Charlie Small (RIP) was in charge of the Army Engineer EOD team and I was allowed to watch as he and his team disposed of the fake IED using their latest acquisition, a water cannon, which they used to blow up the fake explosive device.

Hmm, all I see is a predominant 1950s,60s and 70s architecture from colonial and UDI times, google pictures of Salisbury 1970 and you will find that it looked exactly the same back then, it´s just a bit dirtier and uglier now, seems as if there wasn´t built anything except the Zanu- PF and Reserve Bank building after 1980. So I am really surprised now, what an african success story! I never knew that Africa has colonial- built cities in a state of utter decay, wow, that changed my perception of africa FUNDAMENTALLY.

+Sigmund Leid You are riduculous Runhare house, Karigamombe, all those buildings near QV Pharmacy, government buildings on Samora Machel etc. Stop the drama. Europe and America and the entire world really has aging buildings. Anyway you know this because you see them where ever you live. More could be done but let's not get dramatic. I am sure you see aging buildings wherever you live.
