I know when I first got symptoms of Ankylosing Spondylitis it was after me having chickenpox and shingles in 2011 approx when I was 28. Approximately. Don't know the exact time I had chickenpox and shingles but it was around 2011. I got chickenpox working in an office for Stagecoach in Perth Scotland and then 4 weeks later I had shingles then after that I started getting a lot more inflammation and back pain in my body. This is when I think it happened. I was also diagnosed in 2017 with Ankylosing Spondylitis so like 6 years after that.

As a baby and toddler, I suffered from Bronchiolitis, I believe mine started showing signs at the age of 3. But I wasn't diagnosed until I was 35. My mum and dad got me into swimming, gymnastics, and tap and ballet. I carried on swimming until I was around 20, then I had my son in 1994, 6 mths after, my symptoms reared its ugly head, and I have been fighting it since. I'm now on biologics, 2 a month, and im now looking at a back operation as I broke my back 9 years ago. But I'm still fighting. It ain't going to beat me. It's very exhausting, though 😊🥴😴.

Perfect timing to see a post from you. I am just coming off a major, week long flare-up. It is always comforting, knowing that I am not alone with this f'n disease. A short course of steroid helped...but the long term side effects, are not good. anywho,,keep crack'n, Mate!

It's difficult to trace.... but I had spine and knee issues as an early teenager and dreadful sinus problems for most of my adult life, which are much better with treatment. And yes, the chunky and bloody nasal extrusions are pretty nasty.

I think mine activated the same way. I was born in texas. But my parents were born in Mexico. So when I was 10 I went to Mexico to visit grandma mom told me not to drink the water but I seen my cousin drink it. But he was used to the water I was not. I got hepatitis b from drinking the water my eyes and skin turned yellow. I am 43

I was diagnosed with AS last year after 20 years of back spasms and other horrible back problems. Now the pain is crippling.

My first big symptom was sciatica, looking back, there were lots of minor things like twists & sprains that wouldn't heal quickly, and then a torn tendon which caused me to walk with a limp from then onwards.
