There are many of components to survival. One plan I found that successfully combines these is the Marla survive system (check it out on google) without a doubt the most incredible survival resource that I have ever heard of. Check out the amazing free video.
This was great, been searching for "bug out packs" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Janameron Tenylan System - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my colleague got excellent results with it.

Glad to see a video that breaks down the survival pack. You can't take the house with you, a three day pack is just that. Pack light and on take the essentials.
Probably one of the best thought out and realistic bug out bags I have seen in a long time. I would just recommend adding a lightweight sleeping pad for comfort and warmth. When you lie down in your bag your body weight will compress much of the insulation in the bag that lies on the ground. Compressed insulation does next to nothing to keep you warm. Sleeping pads provide a layer of insulation between you and the ground. Enjoy your videos!

I like this video A LOT more that your prevoius videos, the new calera setup, the lighting, the table, background, you seem refined, professional. I prefer this type of video much more then when you start in the outdoors. i will definately be suscribing.
great review. can't help but notice the close resemblance of the pack to 5.11's rush 72. i agree with your tip that if you have to add anything, add food. what's the use of having 7 flashlights if your stomach's grumbling. looking forward to your next vid.
Good video, you got to the point on every topic. You didn’t have 15 knives, and a bunch of stuff you don’t want in a Bob. Very useful information for anyone making a Bug out bag. One thing I would suggest is ditch the bag water filter. I have two of these and they are great for camping, but not in a survival situation. Instead get a Sawyer mini water filter or a straw type filter.
Great video. I'm becoming a huge fan/believer of the more you know, the less you need. I don't always have to pack, for the end of the world, for a two day camping trip. My bag contents are always evolving to less gear. Thanks again!

This was GREAT. I have been going through your past presentations of EDC, Personal Survival, Get Home and B.O.B. It's more along the lines of a Dave Cantebury mental/approach - minimalist (10 C's) in approach with the Tec savvy LIVING SURVIVAL essence. I think this common ground/evaluation/elevation of your mental/approach is GREAT with your extensive research on items and product in the outdoor, survival, firearm industries for a fellow LEFTY & newbie to all of this preparedness and firearms info-applications like myself. Animals who kill, rape and steal do not discriminate based on pack color so much as they do appearance and size. This is a huge tactical pack with tons of goodies inside. That's the overall impression regardless of the color. This is common sense. You like tactical? Be tactical! Just be prepared to defend yourself and property. I'll stick with my Cannae Phalanx Pack. I'd much rather cache or shard gear than not have it, e.g. solar panel + Olight Universal USB battery charger, etc. Great video and thanks for the many ideas. Food for deep thought!
Wouldn't there be interest in anything considered valuable? I get your point but I would imagine highway men would take whatever they could from whoever they could. Thugs are thugs and don't discriminate.
I carry only 3 rounds in my gun for CCW. I like to keep it light. My buddy just came back from Iraq and only carried 2- 30 round mags for his M4 and 1 - 9mm for his glock 19. He said fire fights were very predictable. He also stated being light made it great to run away too.
Wow, for the cost and added features that's a pretty nice pack. Question, with what you know (learn more need to carry less) and how less gear/items you need to carry, does the bag for your significant other also get cut down in size/items?
Ugh... i have a 55 L 72hr bug out bag and its 15 kilos , and i think its a struggle to just have on my back at home in the house, yet alone walk miles with it.... dunno what to do :( it would easy go up 3-4 more kilos when i add extra clothing to it and fill up the 2 water bladders i have.
For his slepping system he didn't add a sleeping pad, or at least a 55 gallon drum liner. If the bladder rips or gets punctured, which is his only water container, then is unusable. Carrying a smart water bottle as a backup container is an inexpensive way to have as backup. How about clothing, hoodie, socks, underwear, a bandana or shemag.
I've actually been waiting for Ben to do this level of preparedness video. I think you have come a long way in your preparedness, Ben. I also really like your product reviews, and appreciate them all. The difference between EDC, Vehicle Prep Kit, and Bug Out is important... I think you have a great understanding of this. I do however ask you... what if you bug-out for a few days, and then find that you cannot make it back? (I think the RU-vidrs call it... "I'm Never Coming Home"). Let's face facts.... in a real bad scenario, it might be impossible to evacuate the "castle" and then return to it. Someone else may be occupying it, or it just may be impossible to get back. I think we cannot wait for "considering this" before it has to happen. We simply would (perhaps) not have time to prepare a bug-out vs. an Inch kit. My concept of bugging out (God forbid) is that I may never see my furniture, appliances, or "trinkets" anymore. Do you feel that your bug out kit would have enough in it for your sustaining yourself and others in a new location... for perhaps a very long time... ie...useful tools, shelter items , reusable cordage, foraging and hunting/trapping/fishing gear, monies, etc? These "large" bug out bags are nice, but mine are set up on full-frame 80 liter and larger packs, fully intended on carrying just less than the kitchen sink itself. Tools, reusable cordage, and means to forage, hunt and fish make up the basis of our bug-out bags. My concept may be different than others. All I know is that if I leave my home, it may not be my home on return (situations considered). What would I do with my family then, and how am I preparing for this? ... just sayin. Funny thing is the longer I have been into this the bigger and more longterm my bag and my strategy has become. I figured out pretty quickly that 3 days is a camping trip not a bug out. I also quickly realized that I cannot think of a single situation that would force me to abandon my home and bug out that would not mean I would be gone longterm or even where I might never return to my house. I can't think of s single scenario that would be over in less then a week that I could not ride out in my home. So I have gone more to the live out of your bergen/rucksack approach. And with proper training you can move on foot with 50lbs just as well as many others move with 20. It is all about working out with your gear.
@@livingsurvival I tend to think of this as needing to leave the area because of evacuation. I would not expect to be living out of a bag forever. Might end up in a shelter, the woods or a hotel depending on what's available. Anyone who has traveled and gotten stuck somewhere is familiar with that. I would not consider this bag for hiking but it looks perfect for this purpose.
My thoughts on people's opinion about not looking too tactical, I think the first victims of robbery will be those who stick out as hitchhikers etc, would someone really want to target someone who looks like they are probably armed and know what they're doing. As for pack weight, I think it's 100% dependent on what someone is capable of carrying, there are those who can carry a 60lbs pack just as easy as another guy could carry a 20lbs pack, in some cases it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it, so carry what's comfortable.
there are certainly opinions on both. for me I live near a lot of woodland areas so for me to blend in camo is a must. In a city greyman is probably better. But I agree I'm not sure I would mess with a fully tactical dude who looks like they know what they are doing.

Thank you for the video. I’ve been seriously looking at that bag and really appreciate the review on it. Though I do think people need to start preparing and training to ruck around 100lbs in a bug out situation. That 30lbs will quickly turn into 100lbs with water and ammo. Clean or even treatable water might be a lot harder to come by then most people anticipate. And ammo.... will no longer be the luxury we’re accustomed to, but will become a major commodity. A very precious commodity.......on short supply. Can’t count on resupply anymore, but rather pretty much what you have on your back. Not trying to be a blowhard here, just realistic, or more worst case scenario really. My humble advice to people is to get out there and train with as much weight as you can: better to know your limitations ahead of time.... before shit gets real. Because as much as I try to convince myself, I for one am no spring chicken :). And the thought of patrolling 24/7 again is not a happy thought. Thanks again for the video. Thanks Ben, nice review. Black pack color probably is not a factor as you can always get rain covers in an appropriate colors. All that real estate on the bag, begs for MOLLE attachments. That's scary!
I made it to the end. Good vid on a very nice pack. There is a lot of preaching on YT about the one is none, etc concept, and what I consider excessive redundancy. Some redundancy is a good idea to combat circumstances beyond our control but people need to also exercise good equipment management and loss prevention techniques. Without that you will eventually get into equipment deficit no matter how much redundancy you have. It's a matter of discipline.
You do explain in depth. Wow. I am wondering, since all of the bug out's deal with wilderness life. what happens if you live in a city ? Can you do a bug out video on bugging out in city life ?
I dont think the colour of the pack matters all that much. If it's tactical, it's tactical and you're not fooling anyone. If it's black, it just makes you look like a fed rather than a soldier. If you want people to think you dont have a pack full of tactical gear, then you need a civilian pack. Either that or get something obviously well used off ebay and then you might get away with the pauper look. You can get away with camo if the rest of your image makes you look like you've picked it up at a yard sale. But a brand, spanking new tactical pack looks exactly like what it is, whether it's in black or OD. What you wear probably matters more than the colour of your pack. If you are togged up in your brand, spanking new tactical jacket and your brand, spanking new tactical pants and sporting brand, spanking new tactical boots, NRA baseball cap and ballistic glasses, the colour of your pack is irrelevant. Other than that I think it's a very well thought out pack and I applaud your restraint, lack of excessive redundancy and common sense approach.
nice pack but is all the weight on your shoulders. best to have cinchable well padded waist belt so weight is on your hips, this is a basic to any pack of quality.
Again another Great review one of the better ones, I was looking at this same one to replace my Current 511 all hazards prime bag, with this review I'm now more confident knowing that its meets ur Exceptional standards. I will most likely get this bag for camping this season and try it my self and pass it along to others to try as well
How does it ride fully loaded when there is no hipbelt. Biggest concern for me. I know it is possible to ad some, but it is still missing a proper hipbelt design.
I own this bag and the 1-Day Plus...if it ain't GORUCK or First Tactical, I ain't buyin it!! These are some of the best bags in the business, hands down!!
I agreed with what your saying but in Texas with tornados of u bug out and go to the storm shelter and come out and everything is gone and I have no signal I would need way more than a 72 hour bag. My mentality is that I would like to have a never coming home bag. That makes more sense to me but I understand your system especial if your moving with more and 2 or 3 people lighter weight stuff would be better.
I use eberlestock transformer with the F1 frame system. You can use the transformer as a 1-3 day bag or atach it to the frame with say the duffle bag they sell between it an easily make it a Never coming back system.
As much as I LOVE the look of OD green, I would have to go with black. Standing out and being obviously well prepared in a situation where everyone is panicking is a bad idea. The last thing you want is to be mobbed by unprepared, scared people who want your stuff to try and stay alive.
Living Survival .... I like the cut of your jib. I don't have any plans to be in a city so I might just be able to get away with an OD bag and a black bag cover just in case.
Robert Briggs I would agree with you but let me give you some food for thought James Yeager said it best people think OD green or a tactical backpack is going to make them stand out but look around you hitch hikers and homeless people walk around with tactical backpacks kid wear camo cargo pants and shorts and 511 gear when this country does a lot of fighting over seas military and "tactical" gear become fashionable being a pepper has also become trendy! Hell you may stand out today if your not wearing OD green!!! Every where I look I see hunting camo and tactical backpacks what I tend to do though is get a black tactical bag and then get a camo rain cover for it boom best of both worlds just my opinion not trying to offend just food for thought
You could buy a simple backpack cover in camo/black/blue (black and OD if you don't want to be seen and blue/black for urban, you also could put a reflectiv vest on your backpack
I'm curious if this pack comes with a warning saying it contains a chemical known to cause cancer and or birth defects? I've never heard of it before but another pack I just received had that warning.
can you--or someone--confirm the carrying volume? i've seen a review that said it carries 2470 cubic inches (40.5 liters) while the first tactical website says it holds 3794 cubic inches (62.2 liters). Is that total or is that the main compartment, etc?
Let me share a few things I learned from my Friend (Iraq War Vet, MP) who worked a FEMA Camp during Hurricane Sandy as Armed Security. First, as you enter the Camp, unless you were Bleeding Out, you went through a Security Checkpoint. You had to dump EVERYTHING on a Table, and anything they considered a Weapon was taken from you. Even if you had your CHP, No Guns, knives, Pepper Spray, NOTHING, not even a SWAK. Now he told me some guy said "Screw This" and started to leave. A LOCAL Cop working the Table REFUSED to return his Weapon to him, even though he had his CHP. My Friend stepped up, assessed the Situation, and handed his Weapon to him. The LOCAL Cop started say something about "His Chief ordered all Guns to be CONFISCATED!" and tried to Arrest my Friend! The Head Honcho showed up, heard both sides, and ordered the LOCAL Cop out of the "FEDERAL EMERGENCY ZONE" or he would be Arrested. But most of the people who left after the Emergency was over NEVER got their Weapons back. Moral of the Story? If you know your Bug Out Gear wouldn't make it through a TSA Checkpoint at the Airport, you better have a Secure Bag to Stow it in AND a safe place to Cache it. Oh, and Hygiene, Clean Clothes and Shoes and Prescription Meds were always Shorthanded at the Camp, which was a Community College. Toothpaste and Brushes were in Short Supply. Towels for the Showers ran low, and some of the Refugees (Street People mostly) just refused to get clean. Oh, and don't leave anything on your Bunk when you go to Chow. Lots of Theivin' going on! Oh, and bring your own Chow Set with you. Hard to eat Spaghetti with an Plastic Spoon because some BUREAUCRAT in DC thought Forks could be used as Weapons, so Ban Them! So I'd double up on the Car Supplies before you Bug Out, since it looks like it would be a better Retreat than a FEMA Camp. Heck, you've seen Tanner's car. Even with the Wife and Kids, he's probably better Prepped than half the Shelters in the Country! "Base Camp in a Bag" is NOT a Bad Idea. Take Care.
They copied those movable compression straps off 5.11. 5.11 has had their tier system straps for quite awhile now. Also looks a lot like the rush 72 pack! Edit.. I guess First tactical is Dan Costas new company. He started 5.11 and sold awhile back, so makes sense the products look identical! Even the knives look identical! Can't come up with new ideas I guess.
Living Survival it was about 7 min in before going over actual pack....I almost stopped watching....just giving a lil feedback...I liked it once you started actually going over the pack
