Stephen A Smith literally knows nothing about college basketball. I'd argue he doesn't know as much NBA as he thinks he does either, but he knows NOTHING about college. It's simple, Stephen A Smith literally knows nothing about college basketball. I'd argue he doesn't know as much NBA as he thinks he does either, but he knows NOTHING about college. Yet every March, Stephen A looks up a few stats and starts running his mouth like he knows what he's talking about. He didn't even know who Drew Timme was for crying out loud.

He’s completely incompetent to actual knowledge based arguments. Any time he is asked about Allen Iverson he creams his panties, you’d think he was dating Iverson and that Iverson has 10 nba championships instead of ZERO. Do people not understand that Gonzaga annually schedules one of the hardest non-conference to test themselves because they know the teams in their conference traditionally are not on their or other schools levels, so to counter act that you play tough non-conference which they did, Kansas, Iowa, West Virginia and Virginia, with Baylor also scheduled

Even Tim Duncan wouldn't be as valuable in today's NBA. He was never much of an outside shooter. That's why many experts don't think Timme will be very valuable. Also, people need to quit pronouncing his name that way... makes him sound like a 5 year old boy. Use the proper German pronunciation "Tih-meh".

I will never trust Gonzaga to win a championship until they play in a power conference. No matter how good they are, they will never be prepared to play a team like Baylor by playing in the West Coast Conference.

@@kevindao1103 He's a fantastic coach, but yeah, he either needs to go coach a power conference team or get Gonzaga into the Pac-12. Everyone sits here and say the Zags played a great non-conference schedule. That's great and all, but that's when teams haven't even hit their peak in the season. I'd rather they play those teams in conference when teams are hitting their peak so that they can be better prepared to play strong defensive teams like Baylor when it matters most.

Gonzaga plays easy teams in their conference, but they always have a hard non-conference schedule every year to make up for it. Mark Few stays in Spokane because that’s his home. He’s public in wanting to stay there.

@@andrewsunde7915 that’s a valid point but you can’t always determine what teams are gonna be powerhouse teams in non conference because some get ranked super high early but then drop off a cliff, so that’s why I feel a tougher conference schedule would do them better.

What a lot of people don’t understand about going undefeated, is that it almost never happens (in men’s college basketball) in part because the sport is far more competitive than it was when Indiana went undefeated in 1976. Gonzaga had a great season, it was just that Baylor was the more persevered team (went through two pauses and rounded back into preseason shape).

Honestly Baylor was my pick to win it last year with Gillespie and Bandoo on that squad.. and was my pick this year.. I’ve said time and time again that trio of Butler, Mitchell, Teague is tough to slow down.. Knock down shooters who play lock down defense.. Dominant performance by the bears!

My only hesitation at saying Gonzaga was overrated (as opposed to just worn out from the UCLA game) is that I think this Baylor team is HISTORICALLY great. In other words, it wasn't that Gonzaga was bad, it's that Baylor was SPECTACULAR. I can't think of any NCAA team I've ever seen that could compete with the Baylor team that I saw twice in the last 4 days, and that goes back all the way to the UCLA teams of old....

Gonzaga isn't"overrated"... There's only an OVERREACTION. If not for Covid, Baylor may have been undefeated too. Gonzaga plays a tough Non- Con schedule, recruits good players,& is well coached. Blowouts happen sometimes. No shame in a 1 loss season.

Gonzaga is a team that built the majority of their record against mid-majors and bottom feeders in the power conferences. They were never truly battle tested going into the tournament. This is the story of Gonzaga EVERY YEAR. Baylor played in a power conference. THEY WERE BATTLE TESTED. Until Gonzaga starts playing a legit tough schedule, they should NEVER be taken seriously.

I disagree partly with that for one reason - there's a huge difference between a one and done scenario compared to a best of seven and the only reason the '16 Warriors lost was because of Draymond's suspension! It changed the entire momentum and complexion of that series! Gonzaga just flat out lost to Baylor

Defense wins championships! Baylor defense was on fire last night! Zags definitely laid an egg on that loss! At least they didn’t lose by double digits you know the same way Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs did against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in the Super Bowl!🍳🥚 🔥

Gonzaga was ranked #1 because they were undefeated Baylor had 2 losses this season which is why they were not ranked 1

In my bracket I had baylor beating gonzaga in the final with the over under at 151. I was off by 5. And my bracket was horrible. But i got the last two right and almost got the over under exactly right

They need to get their schedule beefed up. They did not play many good teams the entire year. Once they ran into 2 good ones, they had problems they were not used to.

Gonzaga last night looked like the Heavyweight boxer that got into the ring and got blitzed by a 10 combo flurry.....and staggered and stammered around the ring for all 12 rounds. The final score was in no way indicative of how the game actually went. Gonzaga is a great team, but not in the same area code as Baylor....and I am saying this as a Texas Longhorns fan LOL!!
