JD turned 23 in December. Caleb turned 22 in November. Nick just saying shit rn tryna over simplify QB evaluation when he know that shit ain’t that simple. He still think Trevor Lawrence is Peyton manning
Nick's actually right about the weight. Football players have long lied or cheated on the true weight. Plus, let us be reminded that even if he gains it in the offseason for real. He is going to lose a ton of water during August.
The issue is not guys and exaggerating their weight, its hard to do that today with the way pro days are conducted. Right now I can put 10 pounds on a skinny kid within a few days to get his numbers up for the combine. I can also teach a kid how to run a 40 or move 225 within a few weeks that would take .2 seconds off his 40 and add 6 to 8 reps to his press. None of that is going to translate to actual football. The weight, its gone in a few days even if he just sits on the sofa. That's what Nick is getting at and its why some players and people connected with the NFL are questioning if the Combine and pro day format is still useful considering so many guys are hacking the process. If the kid is 195, can you get him up to a retainable and translatable 202? Can you do it without screwing up his biomechanics?
@@huntercook6605 No he's not. Its one of those knowing enough about a subject to think you're right but not enough to know when you are wrong moments. A guy being 4 inches shorter at the same weight does not mean he'll be able to absorb contact better. The distribution of mass, playing style etc are going to determine more than 6'0" vs 6'4". Secondly, its not the NFL of 15 or 20 years ago when guys were getting de-cleated. There's no bounties and they've legislated those blowup shots out of the game.
@@trainerrob1622 Lolnope. It's not just distribution of mass. It's the fact that a taller person at a given weight actually has substantially *less* muscle. Bones, ligaments, etc. all take up a higher fraction of that person's weight. Furthermore, even if you held the amount of muscle constant it wouldn't get you to similar strength or durability, because of leverage. A longer arm with the same amount of muscle on it is demonstrably weaker, because it has to exert much more force to get the same torque; that's just physics. Same story in reverse when you're talking about force applied to the end of somebody's leg torquing a ligament. It's not a football thing. It's a physiology thing. There's a reason powerlifters are short and stocky. And there's a reason that NFL scouts, not just Nick, have concerns about skinny QBs.
@@huntercook6605 You are talking about an extreme example in a general vacuum. Style and distribution has everything to do with this in terms of practical application on a football field. This is exactly what I'm talking about. This is about sports application not general theory. A 6'0 215 guy who's thick down low with a skinny neck and upper body but runs high is going to be more susceptible to concussion type injuries than a 6'4" 215 guy who runs high but who's weight is distributed higher and has a thicker neck. How many shots is Kyler Murray going to take low? He not going to take a lot of shots low because he's 5'8" and when he drops his hips he's 4'8". If he takes a big shot chances are its going to be high. Also there's a point of diminishing returns there in terms of actual football application. Also, more weight doesn't equal more bone or liganment. Especially in terms of ligaments... I'm going to be nice and just say that's ignorant. The type of strength training you are taking an athlete through is going to have a much bigger impact on the thickness of the ligament and tendon than mass. As a matter of fact the bigger a person is the more likely to develop tendon degeneration. Secondly taller people have longer ligaments and tendons than shorter people that should be obvious. This is exactly what I was talking about with Nick. Sometimes its better to stay quiet.
They won Super Bowls and used their legs but didn't depend on them , Mahomes is better than Cam as a running qb too. Cam is just a better pure runner, but not a better running qb.
Na tbf when your friend says dumb shit you just tell him to shutup but to an outside person it may seem ruder than it actually was. Coach saying people can’t just gain that much weight was dumb as fuck we have UFC fighters dropping 25 pounds for weigh ins and gaining it all back 2 days later for a fight and you can guarantee minimum 10 pounds of that 210 was purely water weight and it’s a known fact nfl height and weights are always exaggerated coming out of college because your team wants you to have better metrics so your viewed better and drafted higher because it looks better on them. He does have a bad habit of saying stuff without thinking for some reason just to disagree with someone but when it comes to more technical football stuff he’s clearly the expert
Nick and the other guy who said he’s been in college a while because of injuries is clueless. He’s never had an injury that’s kept him out of more than a couple of games, and his time in college just like Burrow was due to him taking advantage of the lost Covid season. They’ll say anything to try and make a point, even lie in the process!
I get that you probably hate him for some weird reason, but in this particular video, what are you talking about? He seemed pretty informed on everything.
@jetsettech8804 Nah, Nick has no idea what he's talking about. A smaller NFL player not gaining any weight from 24-27, especially a 6'4 QB, is highly unlikely
You have to be careful with skinny guys putting on a lot of weight because you’ll get injured more. Almost better to stay at the current weight & focus on strength training
Lamar literally was the same size in college. I watch every lsu game, the young man is tough. Just gotta teach him how to slide and protect himself. If he gets hurt, it is not his weight to blame, it’s the nature of the game.
He is to rude he cut everybody off I really think he is trying to be the show trying to hard to be the next skip bayless which is not a compliment lmfao 🤡
I’m with Nick, if he could’ve gained weight he would’ve done so by now. But I’m not sold that his weight will be the deciding factor as to whether he’ll be a good running QB or not
Nick doesn't get that normal people's metabolism die as they get older and putting on weight becomes relatively easy. Keeping it off becomes the problem.
@matthewarnold4557 pepple think it is but you dont need to run 4.4 to be a good qb,. Brady just won a couple years ago running a 6..0. The speed of the ball is faster than the legs
If you're a very successful college player they aren't going to be as strict when it comes to strength and conditioning as they are in the NFL. Same reason why college basketball players coming to the NBA don't have a consistent jump shot. They were very successful at lower levels of basketball so the coaches never forced them to learn. As long as you're winning they're not going to be too hard on you when you don't meet your weight goals but in the NFL they're investing 10s of millions of dollars in you so they want to see you commit to gaining weight and strength to help avoid injuries
Chad Pennington was good he got hurt tore his shoulder apart and his power went out and I made him I have to be a shortage quarterback which he was still successful with in Miami
lol coach doesn’t understand that weight can be falsely raised or lowered. Why do you think UFC fighters at weigh in struggle to stand and walk and are fine the next day. They overhydrate or dehydrate by 10+ pounds to meet their weight limits
Vick was 1st?. Google does exist. Its weird that people born after google dont use it to find information. The 60s and before all QBs were duel threats. After that Fran Tarkenton wouldve been 1st in Superbowl era and then there was Randall Cunningham and Steve Young. Then Kordell Stewart but his career wasnt that long just one really good year of almost MVP status. All before Vick.
I dont know why people get excited about running qbs there drafted to throw the ball, id take the slowest guy if he was accurate throwing the the ball over a guy that could run it, legs dont last as long as arms do
Daniel's gained weight for the combine, so clearly he could if he wants to. Obviously, it wasn't a point of focus in college. If gaining weight and being old at 24 is your gripe, I'm ok with that lmmfao
Why is Nick trying to throw shade on a dude who hasn’t even step on an nfl field yet? You supposedly nfl Couch coaches need to stop acting like y’all yearly preseason predictions for these guys coming into the league are spot on, because they are not. Duh. Of course who ever drafts him is going get him Nfl beefed up enough to survive hits on the field so why is Nick having a conniption fit? Oh, wait. I get it. They’re not stopping about Patrick Mahommes. SMH.
I’m sorry Nick but you don’t know what you’re talking about. If you can play you can play. You can be 6’5 250 and stink it up. Just give him a chance to prove himself like every other quarterback. Don’t like him talking about Vick and Lamar tho you ain’t played a snap in the NFL yet shut up
Nick saying Burrow is the only one…but what school did he go to? LSU. What school is Jayden graduating from? LSU. So I would think his one year playing good is more comparable to Burrow than anybody else on that list. Nick tripping
Heres a concept that I don't think is too far fetched, but if you are gonna upload a sports talk episode segment, how about you load up the entire segment
Jayden is a terrific runner, but he’s not a good scrambling passer behind the line of scrimmage and is really bad operating outside the pocket. He also seeks out contact too much. I think taking him over Maye is utter insanity
Gotta disagree for Nick on this one... just watch the Film ...Jayden Daniel's could easily be the Best QB out the Draft ... pocket presence, big arm, good height, and Fast Af ... he does have some Vick to him but he always has a lil Mahomes play making also
Daniels holds onto the ball too long, hence all the deep passes and scrambling yards. Bo Nix ran a good amount in his first year with Oregon including 14 touchdowns, but he ran much less in his last year because he was able to find WRs quickly. Leading to the highest single season completion percentage. Daniels is average at finding the short to intermediate throws which is highly desirable with the speed of the NFL.
I gotta weird thing i rarely do cuz it’s not something i like to live by cuz it’s a lil wacky 😂. But certain last names at certain positions just scares me. And im sorry but the last names Daniels at QB just screams backup😭😭. I said the same thing about Xavier largette. He got the last name of a player you just know won’t but good 😭😭 like i can’t picture NFL broadcasters screaming “LARGETTE” multiple times a game. (Now I’ll be honest i kinda change my mind on largette after i heard him speak 😂. I realized then hes a real deal country mf so i know he works hard. But that last name still scares me)
Gaining weight in college...is NOT the same as gaining weight WITH AN ÑFL CONTRACT!!! NIL money is cool...but he didn't make NFL QB money with his NIL deal....gain weight the second they hand it to him
Coach is the first and only person in the world to think LOUISIANA (internationally known for amazing cuisine) DOESNT HAVE FOOD and LSU doesn’t have a nice weight room.
Given that only about 8 Qbs in the history of the combine have ever run under 4.5, the odds of a QB winning a SB from any list of 8 is going to be extremely low. But if you want to up that to 4.55 then Russell Wilson.
