Purdy is in his second full season. Did people watch last night when Stafford got his avengers back. Kupp and Puka were huge in that game. Brock just had Deebo, CMC, JJ, and BA out. Kittle said he looked around in the huddle and everyone was gone. 😢
To add to your point. Shanahan uses hots opposite the blitz; meaning that he expects the qb to almost throw blind opposite the pressure. That is an extremely difficult thing for a qb to do, no matter who you are. Purdy is also not allowed to audible and can only change the play based on the predetermined answer in the huddle play call where they keep or can to the second play call. Purdy doesn't get the same freedoms that other qbs get and still makes it work more often than not.
Yea and no. You said what Purdy did. The answers are built into the play so there is no need to change it and he often times makes “kills” calls to run which have won them games.
If Purdy is as suspect as Nick Wright keeps saying, what's the pressure ? If he is what he is, we to a certain point accept that and move on. If that's the case also, that actually puts more pressure on Shanahan actually to try to overcome a question mark at QB. Combine that with the fact that Shanahan has the tag of being a choker, he has to eventually kill that narrative on him. Purdy is still relatively too green in the league to have any substantial narrative on him. There's always more pressure on the person that has the higher stakes. Kyle has that because he has a long history that's far from positive. Purdy doesn't because 1 full year isn't enough to prove anything
You broke that down well, it’s crazy how much they say about mahomes. Andy Reid was great with every qb he uses with the eagles and with the chiefs with alex smith.
I would love to see Purdy with Sean Payton or Ben Johnson. Purdy is similar to a more mobile Drew Brees so him with Payton would be awesome. By the way I think you hit the nail on the head while talking about what HCs are asking their QBs to do.
@travisoshea He is. Purdy will generally have a career of frustration, especially if they pay him and can no longer afford to keep a loaded roster around him. The party's over. In order to be successful at QB with an average roster in today's NFL is to have an elite arm or be an elite athlete, or both. Think Mahomes, Jackson, and Allen... not Purdy.
@travisoshea I don't give a eff about the media. I've been saying this about Purdy from the beginning when he took over for Jimmy G. The media quite frankly feeds into Niner fan delusion and says Purdy is a franchise QB. But go ahead and Pay that guy 50 million and watch how it works out with his below average physical traits trying to compete against generational talent year in and year out.
Last year Brock had a machine gun when it came to weapons this year he has a butter knife most QBs would have horrible games they just like picking on him and sometimes the coach calls some head scratchers
49ers fan since 2000. I blame shanahan even though I still have faith in shanahan. Both purdy shanahan have a proven record of success. After the last game, when the entire offense is dysfunctional and not executing, it has to be on coaching in general. Specifically when the defense is blitzing hot And there are no hot routes or checkdowns to throw to. You're setting him up to fail. At the same time Brock likes to be greedy. A few times in that game he had kittle on a short out for the first down and gambled deep and lost resulting in punts or interceptions. Just take the short option. Get the first down when your completion percentage is already low in the game.
lmao if this and if that, hypothetical bs... youll say anything to discredit mahomes and kc... mahomes is just better than any other qb in those clutch moments of games maybe ever... just deal with it and bask in the greatness unfolding before you
One pushback on your argument is that while its true that Reid focuses on scheming open the WRs, Mahomes also focuses on finding the open receiver. Mahomes has never had a contested catch-type WR. Purdy seems to choose to throw into tight coverage and misses his share of open WRs that you have to give Kyle credit for scheming open. Two of his three interceptions were thrown into too tight of coverage,
I’d push back a bit because at Mahomes peak, he had the best play caller and Tyreke hill and Travis Kelce. He wasn’t throwing to scrubs. Purdy led the league in tight windows throws/completions last year. If you watch all the games, you see how often he makes plays that aren’t schemed up. 49ers we’re 2nd in the league last year in YAC while the chiefs were 3rd. This year with all the injuries, the 49ers are 29th in YAC while the chiefs are number 3 again. Purdy was leading the league through 5 weeks with air yardage throws, yards per pass and deep ball throw completions. While Mahomes, Allen and Lamar were all top 5 in passes thrown behind the line of scrimmage and within 5 yards. I say all that to say, Purdy deserves way more credit for his passing against the blitz and having success with the 28th ranked O-line last year and the 26th ranked O-line this year.
Oh and the 9ers lead the league in drops this year as well which would have specifically lead to 2 more wins. The Ronnie bell wide open drop that would’ve iced the game against the rams costed them that game. Aiyuk had 7-8 drops before he got injured. Hard to call him an avenger with how he was playing.
What?!! Mahommes doesn’t choose to throw into tight windows and make bad decisions? Haha He did it in the Super Bowl and it was dropped and he has now thrown more INTs than TDs this year hahaha
Dallas has no chance to win this game. Shanahan has the best run scheme ever created and Dallas is gonna get lit up. Maybe there's no need to blame anyone for the 49ers record. They've lost division games and to the Chiefs and Vikings. They're fine and they'll be a threat in the playoffs.
@@roemellobell What last time? When the 49ers won by 30 points? The 49ers are good at running the ball and Dallas is bad at stopping it. Dallas's best shot to win a game is to go against teams that are average or worse at running. 💯
@@roemellobell Go look up the long list of nobody's that the Shanahans' have gotten to have great years. Go look at the running games of all their offensive coaching disciples around the league. CMC was the best back in the league for their system, but they can get the janitor to run for over 100 yards against most defenses and Dallas's is worst than most against the run. Watch and see, but like TO says, "Get your Kleenex's ready". 😭
