And it often is hit or miss. Like my kids have it working but my wife doesn't and we can't seem to get her back on it with us in a group chat and even outside of the group she still doesn't have it with me but has it with others so IDK why it does that once it's equally readily available to all users it'll be the best thing ever
It actually is. I know a lot of people that are using it and when I've mentioned RCS, they look at me like I'm crazy. They never went into settings or anything. It just automatically turns on. I've proven this many times on my own by SIM swapping between devices and making sure I have RCS turned off before swapping my SIM back and it flips RCS on.
it also uses up a shit load of battery. I and to uninstall it. No sure why it needs to send thousands of data packets to base every minute. And why the fuck does it have a key logger enabled? Strange! I deleted that shit once my phone notified me of the keylogger built in. I own a Huawei and it so far and detected keyloggers on the Google Messaging app and the Microsoft swiftkey.
Honestly Google have done an excellent job with their platform. I really don't think it needs to care about the entire iMessage deal. Texting my friends with Android phones is now so much better. I just wish that the dynamic themes would have more than just pastel colors.
Why suddenly is there no way to change the background of the messaging window, or the color of the chat bubbles???? WHERE IS GOOGLES ARTISTIC SIDE? Even in this vid, a plain white background with pastel bubbles is BORRRRRRRING!!!!!! Even MicroSoft has more style than that!!! It used to be that I could easily add a custom background, instead of just black or white. Why oh why would Google delete that???? The entire "Background" setting is GONE!!!! WHY???? ALLOW PEOPLE TO CUSTOMIZE AS THEY LIKE GOOGLE!!!!! We should be able to make the conversation bubbles any colors we want, and change their transparency. Give people the power of customizing. It's what the entire phone industry is about. We all customize our phones and every app to our own liking. Why is Google falling behind in these functions????
I actually recently Got a whole bunch of notifications to switch over to Google messages. I've always used Samsung and now on my Galaxy Z Fold4 I finally switched over and all the customizations it spoke of in the notification I certainly don't see.
Google messages and RCS messages is great. Ever since I've used a smartphone I've wanted the capability to mark a text as unread so I would remember to go back to it. I was so thrilled to see that Google Messages added the Message Reminder feature so if you read a message but can't reply right then you can add a reminder to it and you won't miss it later. I also love that if the AI thinks you should have replied to a message, it will give you a little pop-up asking "hey, do you need to respond to this?!?"
After you type a message if you hold down the send button for a few seconds you get the option to schedule a specific time and date for automatic message delivery
Great video.....How do I customize the app? Such as colors, themes, etc. All I have as options is light or dark theme. I can't change colors or anything. It would be cool if I could make my text a specific color. Grey seems to be the only option.
I like message plus, where you can individualize each text message. Here, you do not get that choice. Yes, you can set a notification tone-that is it-no colors, etc.
Honestly, I have been using the default Samsung Messages app since I have a Galaxy S20 FE phone and can use bubbles and RCS but do absolutely miss using custom text alerts for certain friends and family members and wish I could message on my computer with the same app but it only has Google messages and Google messages for web.
I am checking some of the things recommended in this video and many features/ settings no longer exist or are changed. As usual with documentation or reviews for software, the information is invalid as soon as it is produced. Perhaps updating the information based on the current version of the app would be more useful for users.
One thing I really don't like, is the google messaging app does not allow you to write a message and save it as a draft without putting a contact details first. If you want to write something you need to choose a contact first then only the writing window appears. its very annoying if you just want to write and save something as a draft.
TBH, everyone I message on a regular basis, uses What's App, so I rarely use the text messaging option and, since I've never liked the onboard Messaging Apps on previous Android phones, I've always downloaded YAATA (and Swiftkey) automatically, as it's really customizable. But, I'll give Google Messages a shot, but I'll still stick with Swiftkey. There's nothing to touch it, IMO.
@@Yinzzy656 No worries. I think I've tried Gboard and went back to Swiftkey due to the long press options for punctuations etc. Unless I have it wrong, or it's changed, that isn't available on Gboard? With Swiftkey I rarely ever have to "toggle" to get to some of the characters. But, I'll have another look! 😉😉
I wish they would add divider lines between chats(edit: to show a split between contacts, not the individual chat itself). I dislike the flat continuous display of all chats just there, without any breaks to separate them.
if i get a new phone and my old phone has all my text messages on google messages is there a way to transfer them to the new phone. i have stuff in texts that i would not like lose.
When a message is received, we can view the message in the notification bar without opening the messages app, also there is a button for reply, we can reply from the notification bar itself by tapping on it. How to get a delete button there in the notification bar?
I prefer the minimal design of Samsung Messages over Google messages. Nobody uses Google messages here so I am cool with Samsung. But I do feel thta Google should take over so more people can get connected to each other . Google messaging should be the default on every Android phone
For groupchat whenever I wanna add someone to a group it creates a separate group instead of adding them to the current group why is that Are messages encrypted. Is this app safe and secure to use. If not are there any other secure messaging apps to use Is there a way to reply to a specific person in a group. Like if you only wanna respond to one person I don't have the chat bubble. And when I send messages it doesn't say sent or delivered Thank you for this video very informative. I will try to see if I can enable these features
i have the s24 ultra and honestly,, i tried this when i first setup my phone and i prefer the facebook messanger bubbles than the google messages chat bubbles!! i just wish that they can allow users to change the chat backgrounds wallpaper on the google messages app that was pre installed!! i used to change these on the samsung messages app on my older samsung phone, but now that old samsung messages app have tooo many ads!!!
do you have an updated video? It seems that Google has enhanced the app since your posting and it is difficult to implement your suggestions, at least for me it is!
New phone..... uses Messages and I used to be able to hold down on screen and "Copy" would come up. I need this again. Now it brings up stuopid imogee suggestions. Any ideas?
Can you do a video on how to get notification sounds to work properly in Google Messages ? They don't work on my Pixel 8a. Google is no help as they couldn't fix the issue even after a factory reset. I have had to use another application to get them to work correctly.
I switched to this last night because I got some alert to and why can't I customize the bubbles? Wonder if Good Lock will allow me to customize. Anyone know?
Unfortunately I need to use samsung messages. Mainly because of the categories feature. Eg I liase with several contacts on behalf of several family members I am a semi carer for as for several reasons. So I NEED to have each family member and their medical supports in their categories eg family member A, family member B etc. So until google messages has this I need to stick with samsung messages
For some reason i don't have this Message organization option on my pixel 7 pro , so is this feature spacefic to some areas or not rolled out yet to all users ?
Good, helpful video. My only advice is to try to speak more clearly because sometimes you go into bursts where you speak fast and your accent is a little hard to understand. Keep making great content!
Any comments about google blocking RCS in unsupported countries (I am talking about EU, not some third world countries lacking infrastructure to support the service)
Not a bad program, but a lot still needs to be done 1. iPhone rcs 2. Photos are not compressed, but to view a photo in good quality, you need to download it and view it in the gallery. 3. Auto-save photo/video in google photo this is the main thing that is missing
Only a few of my friends can receive RCS messages, even though they have RCS capabilities. I have mine set to MMS on my contacts that can not receive them.
Does Google Messenger RCS encrypted voice messages from it's own Google data collection or are we unwittingly authoring Google to be the Data Pirate of yet more of our data?
Hi sometimes we receive notifications from lets say Bank or security company everytime there is an transaction or event. Now we have lots of sms's piled up from one number, you only want to keep only recent ones. In Google messages to delete old messages I need to select each message one by one, or delete all. It will be nice to have an option to quickly select only those messages which we want to delete messages sent from a specific number. However this feature is available in Huawei messages, I tested it on my P40
i am using Galaxy S22 Ultra. The Google Messages app i have in my phone does not have these options you mentioned in your video. Are you using a Pixel phone?? also maybe you are using a beta App of Google Messages??
Honestly I prefer Samsung messages. I have a lot of texts from a lot of different numbers. I prefer being able to make my own categories for things like work, gov, ect. I had Google messages all of an hour on my s22 before realizing I hated it and switched to Samsung messages. Im not scrolling for 10 minutes to an hour to find the conversation im looking for.
I am using google messages app and whenever I create a group text, and a few minutes later I need to add someone else to it, it creates another group instead of going to the original group. How can I fix this? My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Flip 4. OMG this so frustrating to me....Help! Help! Help!
Question how do I get the profile pics back? On the main page, you have a list of contacts I chat with, but if I go to one, the photo is there. on the main page, it just changed to their first letter. I didn't change anything help?
In my country where all of smartphone users use WhatsApp, RCS sounds quite alien to them. I might understand how to activate it without any proof, whether *it really works or only turned on without any action* . I have only 1 or 2 contacts who has RCS seemingly active among 90% Android users. That's where I turned RCS OFF...
I really like RCS messaging, but for some reason when I enable it, I don't receive any texts if I'm not connected to WiFi or mobile data. Is that normal? So I just leave it disabled because I don't like to always be connected to the internet. Especially when I'm at work because my signal is pretty weak and it drains the shit out of my battery
yes, it's normal. RCS is carried out via wifi/data, not through the same service as SMS. (actually, MMS is also carried through data, but android devices tend to temporarily reenable data to send MMS and it usually doesn't show up on a phone bill anyway)
how do you know if the text message was sent through sim 1 or sim 2 on Google messages? I don't think it has that feature. Or if there is, can someone teach me? 😅
Is there a way to so that when i click on messages menu and see all my messages if someone last message was a picture they sent me to not show that on the menu its kinda annoying?
only complaint about google messages is there arent catagories like samsung messages, or a way to have message templates. Being able to quickly put a samsung note into a text is a crucial feature so I am not constantly copy and pasting things
