Showed this to my lady (she's iPhone, I'm android.) and she was impressed and even wished iMessage had some of these features. ESPECIALLY smart reply. Told her RCS was coming to iPhone in the fall and her main reaction was "so I can see when you're typing and get read receipts??" She was stoked...and that makes ME stoked. Thanks for this.
@JoyStickJester_ yes and that sucks , I started experiencing no delivery & read confirmation last week so made move to Google messages. Downside to that is no duel sim notification customization so both numbers have same alert sound.
Cons: 1. For Unread Messages: Both the sender's name and the message content are displayed with the same boldness and font size (Same intensity) which makes it difficult to distinguish between them. 2. Font Customization: The app does not adopt the phone's custom font , even if a custom font is applied to the entire phone, Most of google apps runs over single font such as Gmails & drives
Only thing about reactions with iPhones is it doesn't work with media messages, only text (not sure how limited RCS will be, knowing Apple, so unsure if that changes.)
It's kind of there if you turn on profile discovery then your Gmail profile picture would be on your contact if you message someone they see the picture even if they don't have your number saved
When I try playing a video in messages, it keeps opening a full screen version instead of normally just playing the video as is, how do I fix that? It gets annoying after awhile, deleting and resetting all settings in the app fixed it temporarily and then it started doing it again
Last time I checked Messages the app lacked a key feature - delayed sending. I'm not writing about scheduled sending. Delayed sending lets you set a delay between taping "Send" and actually sending the message. This way you can re-read your text and abort to change or discard it before it actually gets sent. That's why I still use Textra.
I hate how they removed the Google photos option for sharing videos through text. There used to be a way to send a video as a Google photos link right in a text message but that option is gone now. If I try to share a vid, it says it’s too large to send and asks me to trim it. Seems like now I have to open up Google photos, find the video, click share and create the link THEN send that link to someone which makes no sense to me when this was once integrated into the actual messaging app instead of the convoluted way to do it now.
There's something wrong with sending voice memos with google messages. And sending short 1 min films takes forever before sending.. I hope that improves
I see you also missing a few features. Like example the magic compose. There’s two part you only have one. I don’t understand why Google does that. Why they don’t let everybody’s have the same features.
Link previews are convenient, but also an attack vector as it is downloading parts of the website on your device. A malicious actor just has to send you a link where the payload is in the preview and Google Messages automatically downloads it.. can it be turned off?
When I have my sim on an iPhone, I get a lot of spam messages and calls. However, I don't get any of that on the Galaxy S24U. That's why I stick with Android. Those calls are so annoying.
I am on the beta version of Messages in the UK and I have a Gemini button, but when I press it, it opens up a chat window with a random phone number. No idea what could be going on there
So i know if you long press on a message it gives you various emojis/reactions to respond with ( thumbs up, heart, smiley face, etc ). A while ago they added the " quick response " where you double tap the message and it sends a designated emoji. Do you have any idea how to change which one gets sent? A family member had the S22 and when he double tapped he'd send a thumbs up. I have an S23 ultra and my double tap sends a heart ( not something i necessarily want to be sending to just anyone ). Now my family member upgraded to the S24 ultra and now he sends the heart too with the double tap. Please help me figure out how to change/set which emoji gets sent with the double tap.
Did they bring back categories like samsung? That's the only way I'll switch. Ex Samsung i can add contacts to groups (kid's schools/ parents). If i need to text some, it's easy to find, etc. Send as a group or individual. I prefer individual.
I skimmed the whole video & didn't see dark mode anywhere. No thanks, I need that, sticking to Textra until Google messages has dark mode. Update: theoretically Google Messages should be in dark mode as long as system wide dark mode is enabled. Update 2: Dark mode works but the background is not pure black like with Textra.
@@WaistedawaybeadingbyMaryK check Lock Screen notifications I remember the other day downloading it on a Samsung Galaxy s23 ultra for some reason it disabled all the notifications from all apps if still not working then there must be some issue
The only thing that sucks with sending vidoes is everytime i try to send one from my gallery it tells me that i have to chop it down because the file is too big.
I still prefer Samsung messages. It just looks better. I don't give a damn about "hearting" a message. As long as they get it, that's all that matters.
@solorzanofelipe true but it can be downloaded in the galaxy store. Google messages is missing features like categories for example and the pin option. Samsung messages just looks a lot better. Functionally Google messages is really good
Plus with Samsung messages you can use a theme with it. You can't get that with Google messages. On top of that you can change your font along with Samsung messages but you cannot do that in google messages
@@brianvee3678on top of that, with Samsung message user can set different alert notification sound for duel sim device. Each number can have its own alert sound when message is received. That very important feature isn't avaliable on Google Message.
Why won't Google let you get individual replies in MMS group messages like Samsung Messages? I don't like to see everyone's replies to a Picture, Giff, or screenshot that I send to a group. I want individual replies. Does anyone know if they will implement this feature? I can send regular texts with SMS and get individual replies only. That's why I still use Samsung Messages.
I have Google messages and I'm loving it My wife has it and she loves it too so I prefer the Google messages than using Samsung messages I don't like so great video keep them coming😅😅😅😅😅
Google removed categorisation which is part of Message organisation. It worked really well, I don't know on what reasons they removed it. That's a really helpful feature.
Did not know that I could pair Messages with my desktop, or about voice memo messages, CHATTING WITH GEMINI, and some other things lol this video was extremely useful thank you!! Except even though I can enable show expressive animations, I can't get it to work. Selecting the confetti emoji doesn't do it... what am I missing?
Does Google messages have a repeat alert for texts that are not answered or opened, like every 5 minutes the text alert goes off until text opened? It's available on quite a few other text programs, but I don't see the option in Google messages or am I missing it ?
Google is the worst company ever. This shitty messaging app was on my S24 Phone. It shows me rcs sent but the receiver gets a expensive SMS. Did not even realised its not the way better Samsung messages. I never agreed you can use my phone number.
With Google Message , user can't set separate alert notification sounds for duel sim devices = FAIL. You would think google would have figured that out by now seeing Samsung message has had that feature for years,
