Another thing. with the tines in forward, which I run it that way all the time because it is so much faster. If you hit a root the thing will take off like a rocket. I added 5o pounds of dumbbell weight to the axles to hold it to the ground. 20 on the engine side and 30 on the other.
@@SteeveeDan Yes, with the tines in forward the wheels hold the tiller back. I weighed the tires on a scale and the engine is offset so it is 10 pounds heavier on that side. It would launch itself at angle when I hit a big rock or root. The extra weight makes a big difference. It will DIG now.
That's a nice tiller, I'm looking at getting a rear tine tiller this year like a troy bilt one this year from tractor supply or home depot, or maybe a craftsman one from Lowe's I'm not sure yet
I looked all over the place when I bought this one but couldn't find a heavy rear tine anywhere. Resorted to CL and found this. Went to look at it and the 80 year old owner claimed it hadn't been used in a few years so I was a little unsure. We put some gas in it and it started fairly easy so I bought it. Turns out it works really well and I'm glad I bought it. Good luck with what you get!
Looks like you are missing a bolt to the front weight. Mine loosened up . Ended up getting longer bolts with nyloc nuts. Decent machine for the price. Have had mine for eight years.
I've had 2 of these. Breaking ground this thing is a BEAST. That looks like the Honda engine. The compression release died on the first one I had. I have the Kohler engine now. Parts are expensive for it. Just buy a new one if you need a new tine set. LOL
Ao can anyone tell me why our tiller like this wont pull. When its ingaged and we are tilling deep we literally have to push it forward. Any ideas on what we should check to make it operate better?
I do have pretty heavy clay…that why I desperately need a tiller. Actually trying to loosen the soul to put a French drain in since rain water sits on top and isn’t absorbed. UGH @@SteeveeDan
@@lorim4651 Been there with soil that doesn't drain. Ya, a French drain is an answer but just not sure if this machine will get the job done for you. Sorry!
