FIRST TIME CANOE CAMPERS: WHAT WE PACKED
By far the most common questions we get are about what we packed, what we ate, what we filmed with, and how we filtered our water.
This is a complete review and rundown of our camping gear list that we brought on our 3 week backcountry canoe camping trip through Algonquin Park, as well as our budget for the whole trip. We are by no means experts, but simply wanted to share our experience, the best gear to use (according to us), and what we definitely recommend NOT bringing.
*Never dump the dishwater directly into the lake because it can contaminate the water (even when using biodegradable soaps)
Our budget can be found here:

A couple of good looking people like yourselves would probably have quite a few viewers liking the smash button. ;) Thanks for the videos. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work/content.

You two are hilarious 😂. I’ve binged all your trip vids. Beautiful filming, entertaining and thoughtful narrative, and such an amazing ‘true story’ film series to take in. Keep it up!

That had to be both the most entertaining and most extended "subscribe" I've seen so far! :) Nicely done with the series, this video and now I continue to look forward to the bicycle touring stuff to come!

This was fun to watch. Thanks for another fun video. In 2020 we did a family project to get all of our stuff down to a single portage amount. It was alot of work but very worth the effort especially on those longer portages.

That is an absolute requirement for our next trip! We must be able to carry everything in one go, even if it means having to leave my crop top sweater behind haha. Thanks for watching :)

Slow Travel so far is dope, Story Telling is dope and Other Shit is dope too!? Not surprised tbh. You two got the RU-vidr vibe going! I want more of everything! Teaser for Vietnam looks awesome too!

Love the honest breakdown! What hammock do you have? One piece I haven't added to our gear yet and a 2 person one sounds amazing. Let me know! We are hammock people without a hammock, lol.

Hammock people without a hammock 😂😂 I got mine from here: www.ticketothemoon.com/ I've had it for years and use it excessively every summer lol, so I can attest for its quality!

Love this!! Just watched the whole Algonquin series, loved all of it. I went there every summer for like 4 summers in a row for 5 to 7 day wilderness trips with family members. All starting from canoe lake instead, but I had been to some of the lakes you two had been on. Anyways, LOVE THIS

Hi Lee, glad you liked the series! We were actually considering starting on canoe lake but then changed our minds last minute. Any route recommendations? Once things open up a bit again we would love to do a shorter 4 or 5 day trip!
@leestewart2255
@leestewart2255 3 года назад
@@Karamintheworld a smaller route of 3 nights would be starting at canoe lake, up to Tom Thompson (there's a site with a lil cliff jump spot), over to Sunbeam lake, then Burnt Island Lake, then back to canoe lake. A longer 5 or even 6 night trip that I've done has the same first day (canoe lake to Tom Thompson lake) but then up to McIntosh lake, then through a marshy are to White Trout and then Big Trout Lake. From there down to Otterslide lake then Burnt Island Lake then back to Canoe lake. The canoe lake base has a great ice cream shop from my mid childhood memories also, a tradition for my family for sure!!! Sorry this got so long ❤

@@leestewart2255 wow absolutely love this recommendation! I can just feel the vibe of a hot summer afternoon with children eating ice-cream and people canoeing in the distance. Thanks for the tip :) we'll keep this in mind for next time maybe!!

I loved this video!!! Just a thought: I know what my normal weekly food budget is (when I’m at home) and I deduct that from the “money spent on food” for my trips because I’d be spending that money to eat anyhow. Yes, the dehydrated pouch meals and bars etc are more expensive than normal food so, there is an increase in my food budget when tripping.

that's a really good thought Alan! Definitely something I'll likely implement in my thought process and future gear videos I make :)
