This is truly my first time digging with any excavator. The plan was digging the barn lower so that the excavator itself has a decent parking spot. As a new machine operator it was not easy for me to cope with the low roof on this recently bought Yanmar VIO 50 mini excavator.

Good job ! Me and my Vio50 would probably have the roof on top of me and the machine. Thank you for sharing.

It would probably be a lot faster to break at loose with the bucket and then drag it out with the blade. Or Break loose a wide swath with the bucket and move back a foot and then rake that small wide pile toward you with the bucket without raising the boom very much, and move back a foot and keep moving that pile towards you and move back a foot etc etc till you're all the way out the door. The way you're going you will waste a lot of time turning all the way around in that tight space.

Yes. That was a bit of a mess. Not an ideal starting project. I am just happy I didn't break the barn.
