This is them playing the guitar, bass, and drums, with a helper on keys, and their DJ adding some scratch. They were punk musicians as teens that caught the early days of hip hop in Brooklyn heights and Manhattan in the early 80s and became a mostly rap group, and they became probably the best rap group ever.

This could be an amazing adventure you’re about to journey on. The Bboys were always a step ahead of everyone. Plus, they did what they wanted and sacrificed zilch of integrity. They brought rock, punk, funk, jazz, world music, and whatever else they felt belonged into hip hop way before others did. Not to mention that their album check your head is mostly them playing their own instruments and sampling that for their beats. True pioneers in all genres. Just ask the great Chuck D, “the Beastie Boys were true pioneers of hip hop. They have hard core punk to jazzy funk to psychedelic feels to stripped down MC cuts that nobody can touch. In my, and many others opinion, the Beastie Boys are one of the greatest bands forever. Much love to you both. ✌🏻

You should do official video.. official video, not lyric video.. for '3 MCs and 1 DJ' And yeah do official videos, they don't seem to get blocked. But also check out full album 'Paul's Boutique' -- will probably just be music only on youtube though. Best example of brilliance of sampling ever.

To answer your question on where they got this beat from. They played it themselves because very different from other HipHop crews, the Beastie Boys were a band too, with MCA on bass, Mike D on Drums and Adrock on guitar. So what they did here was to record a jam session, then loop it and in doing so creating their own beat to rap over.

Beasties are a Male testosterone driven band in early party hard days, some lyrics degrade women and probable not a girl band ,what definitely not 3 ugly dudes with fame partying and woman Then they grew up,and actually apologized for ways, didn't have to but Budda said it would lead you on in, and stopp worries about past debauchery
@mneugent7658
@mneugent7658 2 года назад
@@davidbird461 Early Beasties were male-oriented but I know plenty of women who love the Boys from Check Your Head on. They were kids when they formed and even through License To Ill. They definitely matured fast after that. I think they wanted to show their artistry instead of being some frat boy favorite. Hell, Fight For Your Right was a parody of those people but sadly those people didn't get the mockery and made it an ironic anthem.

Let's clear up a few things, the beastie boys started out punk but they always is,was,were and forevermore will be the quintessential rap group! Everyone these last couple of decades wants to claim them in the rock alternative category but those rock radio stations would never play them on their stations until white groups like korn,limp bizkit and others started mixing rap and rock. They toured with LL cool J,public enemy, Run DMC and other rap artists for years. Rap back in the early 80's had a lot of rock sounds in it. Even the clothes were rock influenced. Grandmaster flash,Afrikaa bambata,public enemy etc etc sounds gelled with guitar riffs that flowed easily into rock.

Beastie started as a rock group that also had a side interest in hip hop, which was blowing up at the time. They moved away from rock and into their passion for hiphop, but then later they started bringing the rock back into their act. Some of their songs have an almost entirely rock sound (e.g. Fight For Your Right To Party and Sabotage for example), while a lot of their other songs are much more hip hop. If you wanna see them do some great old school hip-hop, you gotta check out "Three MCs and One DJ". That one is just pure fundamental hip-hop. Plus if you check out the video, you'll get to see Mix Master Mike on the turntables, who was the DJ for beastie boys all through their career. Also would recommend "Intergalactic" and "Shake Your Rump" and "Sure Shot" if you ever get around to doing more. They also did a collab track once called "Get It Together" with Q-Tip from a Tribe Called Quest, which is a pretty interesting little track for hip hop trivia. Beastie Boys also helped get LL Cool J signed.

But again, you've GOT TO use the official music video, as the dance moves and vintage clothes add so much to the enjoyment of the song, yo.

Beastie Boys were heavily influenced by Kool Moe Dee, Fab Five Freddy & Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, along with many other Rap groups from the early 80's. By the late 80's they came on the scene with such a unique blend of Rap & Rock that they started an entire new Genre themselves! Run DMC gave them mad respect when they combined and toured as well together in the late 80's.

Beastie Boys have such a huge catalog to explore. 1 of THE biggest influencers on not just Hip Hop, but Modern Rock/Alternative as well. But the BEAT on this song is SICK. The tone and intensity hits so hard. It would just go over well today, it KILLS what is out there now. Everything sounds flat, generic and over processed. Also, like BJ mentioned, the cadence on their raps are so good, and they flow so well from one to next. So many popular rappers today sound tired, dull and lifeless in their delivery. Beastie Boys always come out with fire and sound like they are having the time of their life - and they were. Their lines were also full of cultural and local references in often playful metaphor and simile

The Beastie Boys were a punk/hardcore band before they moved over to hip-hop. This track came after they got in trouble for their previous sample-heavy album. So they started recording their own instrumentals and sampling themselves to avoid any further legal issues. It made them super unique. #AsiaandBJ Happy new year with a BANGER!! In 1983 Anthrax released "I'm the man" as far as I know thats the earliest rock rap hybrid. The guitarist was a big fan of public Enemy and eventually became a friend to them. In 1990 (somewhere around there) Anthrax and Public Enemy did a track together called "Bring the noise". Also around 1990 there was a soundtrack for the movie JUDGEMENT NIGHT. For the sound track they paired rock bands and rap groups together and each pair did a song. It's a VERY slept on album. There are colabs between Run DMC and Anthrax / Onyx and Biohazard / Slayer and Ice Tea . Pearl Jam and Cyprus Hill and others. Yall should check it out.

Anthrax "I'm the Man" came out in 1987... Run DMC released Rock Box in 1984. They were the first rap group to include rock music. The Beastie Boys were inspired by Run DMC and took the rock sound further. Both groups are the reason rap music started to become huge in the 80's.

I love this CD. Reminds me of high school. You can’t go wrong with their first few albums. I like the older better than the newer.

Its hard to find a Beastie track that isnt great, especially from the first four albums … the other big hit from this album was Pass The Mic, which also had a killer groove, a lot like this one :) Before the Beastie Boys, Hip Hop was a VERY different genre. Not that Hip Hop wouldnt have been big without them, but it definitely would’ve been different. If youre gonna do more Tribe Called Quest, Excursions is an absolute must!
