For the first time on the channel, we are checking out Christopher Cross and a live version of the tune Ride Like The Wind from 1980! I had heard his name come up quite a few times, but never checkjed him out for myself, definitely been missing out! His writing, vocals and guitar playing were absolutely incredible! Such a fun tune that kept it interesting the entire time and he crushed that guitar solo! Hope you enjoy! #reaction #christophercross #ridelikethewind #80smusic #livemusic #guitar #guitarist #guitarsolo #musicreactions #themidnightspecial

I remember how shocked everyone was to see Christopher Cross actually singing. That light ,smooth voice coming from the big man, with the baby face.

You may like this tidbit - apparently Stevie Ray Vaughan bought one of his famous guitars from Christopher Cross. Actually here's what I found on Google: Cross was the original owner of fellow Austin guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan's legendary “Number One” 1962/1963 hybrid Fender Stratocaster. Vaughan purchased the guitar at Ray Hennig's Heart of Texas Music in Austin in 1974, only one day after Cross had traded the guitar for a Gibson Les Paul.

What?!? That’s wild! Would love to get my hands on that guitar! Thanks for sharing!

I remember when Christopher Cross's first album came out in 1979 & we all bought a copy. The whole album was good with one hit after another including "Sailing", "Ride Like The Wind", "Never Be The Same", "Say You'll Be Mine" etc. He won 4 Grammy Awards for it. He released a 2nd album in 1983 with a few hits on it. But sadly after that his fame declined. Success came quickly, all at once & then suddenly faded. Too bad as he was very talented.

But also the video era ushered in by MTV finished him off as he didn't have the right "look"

@@reallymysterious4520 Good point. That is why I loved listening to records as you appreciated the music & talent of the artists without having to see them.

@@dagmar.6954 I followed a reaction channel for a little while of a college girl and when she reacted to the music videos she commented more on the look of the video than she did the actual music - ridiculous !!!

This song is awesome, but Christopher Cross does not strike me as someone who has to 'ride like the wind'

Ya know, it's funny, I remember his hits from this time period, and he was huge, then. But if you asked anyone from then if they knew he was that kind of guitarist they'd be lying if they said they did. In fact, none of his songs had guitar solos that I can remember. At least they weren't known for it, and he was not in the conversation as a top shelf guitarist..He's certainly opened my eyes(ears)!..Shocker!

Hello I thought I'd suggest another fabulous guitarist to give a listen, if interested. "Ten Years After - I'm Going Home (Live)" (by the channel: Cor Lemmers) --Alvin Lee the sizzling hot guitarist of the British rock-blues band "Ten Years After" made an appearance at the legendary Woodstock Festival in 1969. This catapulted him to super-stardom, and now is remembered as one of the blues rocks finest. 🎸❤‍🔥
