Man, this song got me through some tough times. Was going through so much self imposed garbage when this came out and was just about at that "bottom" from a 20 year run of drinking and drugging where it took over my life. Everyday I would curse God for waking me up as I wanted to die but couldn't do it. This song would bring a smile to my face and the line my future is coming on got me out of that mood. Been done with that lifestyle and have been clean for just about 16 years and credit this and a few other songs that kept me going. Great reaction, thanks!

@@marc68521 Thank you. There is always hope. To bad it is not something we can do for someone who struggles though, they have to want to change. The best thing done for me was my parents were praying for me while I was out there. I stayed alive while dealing with the hell I created until I had enough. Keep up praying for your brother. I truly believe in the power of prayer, it worked for me.

Del is on a few Gorillaz songs, he's one of my favorite artists - solo he's Del tha Funky Homosapien, his group is Heiroglyphics which is big in Oakland and has a yearly festival, and he has an alternate persona named Deltron who's from the future year 3030. (He's Ice Cube's cousin too!)

The rapper on this track is Del tha Funkee Homosapien from the legendary group Hieroglyphics. Gorillaz have a lot of features. Check out the song by them called Ascension feat. Vince Staples. The live version at “Life is Beautiful” festival is amazing. I’ll find a link. Other features include Schoolboy Q, De La Soul, Mos Def, Roots Manuva, MF Doom, Shaun Ryder, etc.

I always took the "I ain't happy but I'm feeling glad I got sunshine in a bag" to mean he's not happy in life, happy being the more definite, all encompassing, overall feeling about life and Glad is referring to a very brief and temporary emotion being felt. So overall, he's not happy but has that brief and fleeting feeling of being glad that he's got whatever his drug of choice is to give him temporary relief.

Gorillaz is essentially a supergroup that consists Damon Auburn and his band "Blur" and Dan The Automator. They have a lot of vocal cameos, legend rap crew De LA Sol tracked on "Feel Good Inc."

I agree, you will get 2x the experience by watching the official videos. I know it's hard to do sometimes on YT, but you'll feel the full "story" behind their songs with the visual effects. That is their unique thing.

Gorilaz are a supergroup with some of the best musicians in England and they also feature with anyone as long as they are legends, I see comments saying watch the videos and you really should,it's like a post apocalyptic anime, all the songs and videos put you in an actual universe.i beg you to watch them all, and research them too, you will be amazed how huge they are

It doesn't bother me any you watching the lyric video, but you should really take time to watch the videos that accompany Gorillaz songs. It's part of the experience, especially so as they're a virtual band. The singer is Damon Albarn from the band Blur. The Gorillaz are a top tier groove. My favourite is Desole ft. Fatoumata Diawara, but they're all good, all bangers. Happy New year y'all 💜

The name of the song Clint Eastwood refers to a couple of things: the sound of the melodica is taken from a theme by Ennio Morricone, who wrote the music for the movie "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly' (and many more). Damon Albarn, the songwriter and co-creator of Gorillaz, is a huge fan and even wrote a Blur song called Morricone in his honour. Clint Eastwood, of course, starred in that film, and one of his lines in it is "I've got sunshine in a bag" (gold treasure). BTW another huge Gorillaz song is Dirty Harry :); they carried the tradition on for the next album, Demon Days. That one deserves a listen, too. Really enjoying seeing you discover this incredible collaborative band

Gorillaz was formed by Damon Albarn (previously the front man of Blur) and animator Jamie Hewlett. It’s because of this collaboration they kinda expect you to watch their videos. The (rotating) band members are repressed by animated characters

The interesting about the Gorillaz is they do lots of Collaborations with other artists. And because they are a virtual band the Music video is half the story. They called this song Clint Eastwood I believe from the opening chords which they used in the classic Eastwood western “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.” They have collaborated with Everyone from Jack Black to BB King. Gorillaz are more human these days but their first two albums were on another level with 10 or 12 "play that again!" out of 15 tracks on each album. Their debut album has so many solid cuts, but Demon Days you really have to do a whole album reaction. It is a whole experience.

Originally Gorillaz had wrote the entire song but before they released it they asked Del the Funky Homosapien to write the lyrics (the rap part) and had recorded it in the studio. Afterwards, he just put it out of his mind. Gorillaz decided to use his version and it wasn’t until later, when someone approached him to tell him his latest song was awesome (paraphrasing) he didn’t have a clue what song they were talking about. He had completely forgotten it. There’s a YT video somewhere on him about it.

Damon Ahlbarn who instigated this project saw it as a side project from his band Blur but Gorrillaz took off bigget ! Blur were pretty big in themselves with hits such as Song 2 and Tender so worth a look at also

That music at the end is called a fade out. It's how tons of songs end in rock music and some other genres. It's been in use probably since the 1960s forward instead of an abrupt end to a song.

I remember the first time I heard this song as a kid. It was on one of those NOW hits mixed CDs 💿 I had no idea what it was and had never heard of them and thought a song called Clint Eastwood what the heck. The song threw me and I thought this is weird but so unique I love it. Now I’ve heard a lot more of their songs and I love them.

Asia & BJ There is a live video of the "Band", Gorillaz. "Band" is consisted of only guys: Daman Alban and Jamie Hewlett. They created a virtual Band. But during the live concert, both of them had live musicians playing Gorillaz' songs with singers and rappers as animation of the "Band" playing in the background.

Gorillaz is a virtual band so by watching lyric videos instead of actual videos you're missing half the experience. Also, Dan the Automator produced this record for Damon Albarn. It's why it's still their best. Check out his other project "Handsome Boy Modeling School" with Prince Paul. All the scratching is Kid Koala, another amazing artist worth checking out.
