There has never been a better song in the history of the world. As incredible the 5000th time you hear it as the first. First tier blues rock singer and first tier organist on the 60’s signature Vox Continental. Defines iconic. Slightly creepy, slightly sinister, slightly psychedelic, bluesy, and completely irresistible like the House itself. A new generation was created that day. THIS IS REAL!

It’s my understanding from reading comments on previous reaction videos that Eric Burdon had quite a hard life coming up, so the pathos and grit that you hear in his voice, he came by naturally.

Definitely fall down the Eric Burdon rabbit hole - he was with The Animals, and then War. Highly suggest you go next to "When I Was Young" (my personal favorite), and whenever possible, watch live videos. Burdon is a treat to watch perform. Great reaction - thanks for sharing!

Please give Alan Price some attention - he is the fella at the organ.

@@JustinDorseyTVThe band was originally called the Alan Price Rhythm and Blues Combo… He left in 1965 to form the Alan Price Set.

And went along with conning the rest of the band out of their share of the royalties. Even after that, the band said to him in the 80's when they reformed for a while that Price could keep what he'd made but from hence forward share the money. He flat refused. Eric Burdon was particularly sad for Hilton Valentine, the guitarist who came up with the signature riff. (Price's name was the only one on the label because the manager (a crook it turns out) and the producer suggested the others wouldn't fit and they'd share later. But actually they wanted to launch Price with another band and basically have two golden geese instead of one.) Even as late as 2005, Burdon reached out to Price asking him to join them in a benefit concert for Katrina victims. (New Orleans being obviously linked to the band.) He refused. I think Price felt that as the manager had ripped off the band- basically stealing most of their earnings- he needed to look after himself and take what he could from House of the Rising Sun. It didn't do Price much good in the end as the music biz was a small world and Burdon had a lot of friends. It just shows how much talent is wasted by the parasites who prey upon musicians and the naive young men with talent. @@johnclibbens6803

"Shrouded in auto-tune and 808" ... What a beautiful turn of phrase! I remember when I first encountered 808 Boom and I was astonished. It was so fun. I'm a musician and studio guy of many decades.

I love all these first time reactions where people are like I've heard this song before.... you would have to live under a rock to have never heard this song before if you're above a certain age.

First time subscriber and I am at the 3:33 mark, which is kind of cool, because that is exactly the RPM's for a 33 RPM record, but, regarding them being in the zone, yes absolutely but regarding only hearing their own instrument, let me tell you something I think you will find interesting and I say this as a musician of many decades. The way for a band to be tight is approaching that magical goal of 90% listening and only 10% executing. It's nearly impossible, but with enough practice to where you can play your instrument without having to spend too much of your energy thinking about it, that frees your brain up to devote a majority of attention to listening to what's going on around you, including the audience if it's a live setting. And that is the true freedom and getting in the zone. To be able to focus only a little on your playing when necessary and then go 100% at certain moments like in a Solo, and then bring it back out and be 90% listening to everything else and only 10% executing. It's the best feeling in the world.

Great song - I’m old enough to remember the original release (the Animals were a British band, but we didn’t get the Ed Sullivan Show in the U.K.).

It shows my age that when you said that you like classic music and then mentioned the 90s, I had culture shock, lol. Classics come from the 50s 60s and 70s! The 90s is current in my lexicon.😅
