You won't be disappointed with anything you choose. They sing all genres. Sound of Silence, Havana, Shallow, Radioactive, Can't Sleep Love, Bohemian Rhapsody, My Heart With You, Run to You.
Prayers For This World is from the Holidays Around the World album (nominated for a Grammy; awards on Feb. 4), where Pentatonix collaborated with groups and performers from around the world (hence the album title). Because of that, many of the tracks on the album have instrumental accompaniment that is unusual for a Pentatonix album, including this song. When PTX performs this live, there is a cello sectional that accompanies them on stage. But as far as I know, the percussion is all done by Kevin, their beatboxer - he's an amazing talent, and not just for his beatboxing. For a newcomer to Pentatonix (I hope you don't regret passing up their concert that you mentioned), I sometimes make a suggestion: look through their catalog of videos/songs, find a cover that you either thought was "meh" or even didn't like, and give their version of it a chance - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
Welcome to the world of Pentatonix ( or PTX as we like to call them). They've been together for almost 12 years now ( with only one change in the lineup...Avi Kaplan was their bass until 2017, and Matt Sallee took over 6 months later) and have a huge discography of 200+ songs, some cover and some originals. All their covers are so good that they can be considered upgrades. Members are: Tall blond guy: Scott Hoying, baritone. His vocal range is so big that he can cover the bassline when the bass sings a verso or takes lead. Shorter, dark-haired guy: Mitch Grassi, countertenor. Mitch's vocal range goes all the way from baritone to soprano. He changes his looks often so sometimes it's hard to recognize him from one video to the next Black guy in the brown jacket: Matt Sallee, bass. Matt has been with the group since 2018, but fits in so well with a bunch of people that act like family. Matt also has an impressive vocal range and a fine falsetto. Lady in black dress: Kirstin ( Kirstie) Maldonado, alto-soprano. Kirstie , like Mitch, is a chameleon with her looks. You never know what haircolour she'll show up in next! Along with a wide vocal range, she has superb belting abilities. Other black guy: Kevin Olusola, beatboxer, tenor, cellist. Kevin does all the beats. His repertoire of sounds he can make is astounding...plus he's a genius. He plays both cello and sax at concert level, plays keyboard as well. Before joining PTX, he graduated Pre-Med, planning to become a doctor and spent 18 months in China paving the way to work there. He speaks fluent Mandarin as well as several other languages. He also beatboxes WHILE playing the cello...he dubs it celloboxing. Kevin also sings and has a lovely tenor voice with a very high falsetto. Kevin has co-written most of the group's original pieces. What to do next: Bohemian Rhapsody, Daft Punk medley, Love Again ( original), Mad World, The Prayer, Be My Eyes ( original), Coffee In Bed (original), Evolution of Micheal Jackson. They are mostly a capella, but in the last 3 years, have begun experimenting with added strings and instrumentation if a few pieces. Other than that, they've had Kevin with his cello a few times ( Say Something, Thank You, Shallow, Dancing On My Own, Perfect, Kiss From A Rose), and collaborated with Lindsey Sterling 3 times:( Radioactive, Papaoutai, Over The River). I hope you really enjoy this fantastic group!
Thank you for getting him to do PTX. Always love to see a new reactor. As an obvious Pentaholic, You probably know how exciting that is. Greetings from Southern California. 🤗💋🥰
Fantastic first reaction! Welcome to PTX! You’re gonna be bummed you didn’t go with your wife and her Mom to see them live. Good thing they tour so much, so you’ll get your chance if you want it. I know how much I love sharing my appreciation for this band with people I love - your wife is going to be so happy!
Not the typical PTX song for a first time reaction, but as previously stated, you cant go wrong with any of their songs, be it original or cover. Keep them coming and your sub base will grow.
Welcome to the rabbithole of PTX. I caught them live this year and loved every second of it. My recommendations are older songs but their cover of "Can't Hold Us" and their original "Sing"
Loved your reaction. We Pentaholics welcome you. You haven't even scratched the surface yet. You also need to get Mitch-slapped for the first time. Don't worry, its a good thing. Can't wait to see you check out more Pentatonix videos.
If you want to grow your channel, do Hallelujah next. It has over 730 million views. It will pop up in the algorithm more often. Then Sound of Silence, Kiss from a Rose and 90's Dance Medley. Subbed for more PTX. Good luck in the rabbit hole. You still need a proper Mitch slap!😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Throw their Daft Punk medley in there and Sound of Silence. The most popular songs are ones with Avi but Matt is doing a great job. Check out Kiss from a Rose
