VoicePlay Total Eclipse of the Heart Reaction 

Each time I see one of them disappear the tears well up. I guess I've lost too many people in my life. But this is an amazing cover of the old well remembered song. It seems that the Spanish version was very popular in Puerto Rico so Cesar and Ashley probably knew it well, and it was decided to add a bit of it here. Oh yes, she's been with them before, Running Up That Hill, If IWere a Rich Man/Girl, We Don['t Talk About Bruno, and many shorts too.

Their first with Ashley was the classic from Fiddler on the Roof "If I were a Rich Man/girl" - and they really played into the fact that she was new to their lineup with a very funny reaction in the middle of the piece. If you haven't heard it, it's a classic example of their ability to lean on rhythm to completely update a song and make it feel fresh.

You will find if you haven't already, that Rob Dietz did the arrangement. This was Eli's project, but he with the rest of them needed a break. The design and vision were all Eli, and he told Rob what he wanted from the arrangement. Rob has arranged for them periodically, he does a lot of their minis/shorts.

Cesar and Ashley are both from Puerto Rico, and have been friend for years. Actually, from what I see I his IG, Cesar also has family in Dominican Republic also. Ashley has done a few other videos with Voiceplay: We don't talk about Bruno (from Disney film 'Encanto'), Running up that Hill (also from the 80s I think?), If I were a rich man ('Fiddler on the Roof'), and also has collaborated in several of their 'minis'. 😉

I very much enjoyed VP's take on this song and love the story the video tells between Cesar & Ashley. I also enjoyed the inclusion of their native Spanish language. The very first song/video that Cesar was featured in with VP - We're Good - he also sang a verse or two in Spanish. I believe Cesar is the one that brought Ashley to the groups attention, thank you very much Cesar! I do have to say though, that Bonnie Tyler's version is still my favorite. It came out when I was in high school and I remember listening to it all the time. As you said though, I don't think I'd want to go back to that time in my life!

Ashley Diane Rosa and Cesar de la Rosa are both native Puerto Rican. Cesar's family moved to the mainland (Florida) when he was 8. Don't know exactly when Ashley moved here.

You get the picture they like working together. She is also one of the singers for "The Voices of Liberty" at Epcot like the members of Voctave . *BTW Bonnie Tyler would have been the original artist (interesting story there too) for TEotH back in the 80s but the video is very creepy 🤨

Nope, Bonnie Tyler is the originator of this song back in 1983, not Heart. However, Heart did do a duet of this song with Jimmy Fallon on his late night show earlier this year (April), during the solar eclipse.

Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler released Total Eclipse of the Heart way back in 1983 when I was in high school in Scotland. I'm very old lol She was one of my mothers favourites in the late 70s with song like Lost in France and It's a Heartache. Those definitely weren't power ballads😊

Hey, you're on the right side of the grass. Like me. I've loved Ashley since Bruno. She is so good. Both Ashley and Cesar were childhood friends in Puerto Rico before their families moved to Orlando where they both did some perfect vocals. Of course they know Spanish!
