when Alem brought up the "7" hes talking about how hes going to be doing a beat that is 7/8 timing instead of your regular 4/4 or 6/8 beat. its intricate to be able to produce a 7 beats per measure beat and hold onto the counts without messing up

Alem is a very old school beatboxer. Dudes been beatboxing for probably twice as long as king inertia. But that being said alem is far more technically focused and king inertia is known for his inward bass and other bass sounds more than tech. This battle couldnt have been more of a different style of beatboxers honestly. I would love to see you react to one of the battle from this year but on dlows channel where he breaksdown his judging for the battles. Gives you a great insight on how the judges go about choosing who wins. You could wither do it on a battle you havent seen yet or one you have already. But it would be super dope if you warched one of those with don so he could also get that inaight from dlow. If a crowd reacts to the very beginning of the round that means it's a routine that they recognize. Inertia's second round used to be a famous shoutout of his and his second round vs helium (reckless) is easily his most iconic routine so the crowd recognizes it. Similarly Alem's 7/8 is an old callback to former world champion Skiller.

There is a beatboxer called Zekka...he's a beast. But you should see his runner up compilation, I think he only lost to D-low but has beat like everyone else

The 7/8 beat is a call back as well from like 2013 against skiller but skiller is from Bulgaria and they use 7/8 in their music often.. inertia has timing issues a lot if you put a metronome to his beats.. it was a fierce battle move to the judges

Watch King Inertia elimination round from this year, you won't regret it. It's also definitely worth checking out the other participants elim rounds, because they show a lot during them. High middle low is one of inertias more well known tracks thats why the crowd goes nuts off the bat

The hand crosses in the audience that you saw towards the end means they want an overtime round, coz in solo battles, the judges have an option to put a cross if they cant decide (indicating overtime) and both have to perform another round for the final decision.

for alem at his best there's alot but the real thing you need is his tag team, go uniteam vs kotcha. kotcha is made of d low and frosty who you reacted in loopstation against rythmind. that battle is of the best performances you'll see from both sides

So when alem says "can u do the 7" he means a 7 time signature, most music is 4/4 so he's flexing his musical theory and rhythm 😂🔥

7/8 timing is beyond tricky and not easy to mantain beatboxing. This battle literally showcases 2 of the most different styles of beatboxing possible. I love Interia but im biased towards Alem cause ive watched him for so many years.

2021 GBB was also livestreamed on YT to another 100k odd viewers. Also when Alem was talking about the "7" he means he started doin a beat on 7/8 instead of the usual 4/4 beat. Also in King Inertias last round, the reason the commentators stood up straight away was because "High/Middle/Low" is an Inertia routine that previously was only a music video on his channel and one of his most famous routines to date, so they were just jazzed that they were about to hear it live.

I watched the tournament live and king inertia did a lot his inward bass during elimination and 1/8 so everybody was used to, but still imo, Alem was too agressiv and as always, that his style, he's too much technique ^^ Alem is the 2015 world champs, beatbox evolved fast ^^, that good

As an American, i really appreciate King Inertias beat choice. I dont listen to drum and bass music so even though i HIGHLY respect Alem and his particular skill set, Inertia always sounds better. Once again, Alem is my guy and he is a legitimately multi talented individual...no shade being thrown at all.

All the KI hate is unnecessary.. you can understand beatboxing and still like what you like and have a preference. That "technical" rapid fire shiit doesn't always fly with most people and what sounds good to you won't necessarily sound good to the next person 💯 Alem may be more "technical" than KI but KI straight sounds better overall imo... judges coulda gave to Alem and I still would have gave it to KI because I like his sound and style wayy more. It's all about what's appealing to your ear at the end of the day.

Just to clarify for reactors. Most of the well established beatboxers have what we call sets that are a routine done within a minute and a half of time. That's why you see the judges and the crowd go bonkers. It's because they recognized the set he is doing.

As others said, its 7/8.. inertia has really nice bass, but everything he does is kinda 4/4 stuff, and while it sounds nice, its not as technical as what Alem does. "how can you call yourselves the king if you cant even count to 7"

Alem is kinda like Tool, VERY much an acquired taste and really shines when you break it down musically as opposed to Inertia who is flat out a better performer and more accessible to listen an bang to. Alem knows and understands music theory, but imo it really doesn't translate well considering it's the big noises and stuff that really wow people. Maybe if it were a song-making competition and not a live performance Alem would have a better leg to stand on, but I've never thought technical music really translated well to beatbox. Plus, Alem is just always disrespectful af to anyone outside his little niche and has a very high opinion of himself.

There could be one hell of a mothafuckin rhythm game made based off of beatboxers. Like a guitar hero/DJ hero or whatever game. Yes I know there is a game that exists that's a beatbox rhythm game kinda, but its goofy as hell and honestly ain't worth a fuck.
