I have the c5 and had a broken shifter paddle. The support team on the Cammus discord fixed me up with a set of four new ones with replacement switches as well. Apparently they are making a replacement version that will be more durable, presumably it will be metal.

I bought this from china at june 2023 and it came with metal shifters and buttons.. I did not bother to update the app and the firmware since july 23 and recently I've decided to update it. I was blown away. There is actually working mobile app now. You can change the settings on the fly with your phones/ tab. You can set colors for individual led on the rpm meter. The rpm meter now blink on and off at max rpm (it used to just change to green color, hard to see). I am not the kind of person who has patience for experiments, so the new present list are quite something. The wheel definitely runs cooler after the update.
4:25 My first race with the Fanatec wheel I got last year was in the ARCA at Bumpy Daytona, and for a couple of years I had been _seeing_ the wheel moving back and forth a TON through turns 1-2, but then I was on the DD wheel and my wheel actually WAS moving back and forth that much - a 1:1 fit between the visual motion and the wheel motion, with ZERO slop, and basically INSTANT full-force response. I never realized just how bumpy Bumpy Daytona really is. My arms were SO tired after 70 laps... Also, even autocrossing in a real car I'd never really experienced "bump steer", but with a DD wheel, it *can* be noticeable (this video shows the toe/steering angle changes when the WHOLE suspension is compressed - but the context is when you hit a bump and compress the suspension on ONE SIDE of the car, your steering angle changes - and on a DD wheel, that sensation is transmitted back to your hands pretty well... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UGLos50OYO8.html )
i am going simagic and this helps with looks on DD, ive never had DD. Also there are companies like simagic and moza that make their wheels with aluminum or other metals and try to use low amounts of plastic.
Just to touch on the shifter paddles breaking. I owned this wheel for about two months before one of the shift paddles broke. BUT, I contacted Cammus customer service and they shipped a set of replacement paddles and springs and hardware at no cost!! Replacement was SUPER easy, just need a tiny Phillips screw driver, and the slightest bit of man knowledge to replace them.
@@kamara- yep, FYI. They have a 12 NM version now too if it’s in your budget. WAYYYY better and it looks like they made it to be able to switch wheel rims to a gt style as well. Give it a look. See what you think. But yes, the paddles are easily replaceable. I do believe the only reason they sent me them for free was because it was only two months of owning it that they broke. BUT, I had a couple people use it that weren’t being very gentle with it and I think one of them hulk squeezed it. Lol
I switched from my Logitech I used for 4 years to the entry level fanatec, and my experience was very similar in terms of not necessarily being faster, but having more fun. I did realize however that I’ve gotten much better at tire saving with the dd. I think it’s because I can feel the rubber being scrubbed off better on the fanatec if I’m running too hard

I never used a gear wheel, but I went from a belt Thrustmaster to DD Moza and the feeling of smoothness was amazing. I imagine the leap is much bigger from Logitech. Interestingly, I found myself a little faster in some oval situations, even though I race little oval. But I had a better sensation of grip and of when and how much throttle to use on turn exit.
I just upgraded to the Moza R5 bundle from my Thrustmaster T150 wheels and pedals. And man it’s such a different feeling in a good way. I find I’m much more consistent and in tune with the car because you can actually feel the tires and weight transfers. Would definitely recommend a DD wheel and decent pedals to anyone who can afford it and wants a really great driving experience.
I went from a g29 to a Moza R9 and, after getting some settings corrected in the Moza's software, I felt more comfortable with the car I was driving and was driving faster than before.
Hi! got my C5 about 10 month ago, and after 5 months of intensive use the gear-up shifter broke. Those shifter switches are mechanical micro-switches and do not survive under hard daily driving. However, factory did send me new switches under warranty. I had to desolder/resolder the faulty switch by myself, and it came out, that C5 is VERY hard to dismantle. I think C12 has upgraded shifting paddles with hall-elements, and that is a HUGE upgrade. Just my thinking...
I ordered one a few days back. It'll be replacing my T300 that I've had for several years. What's crazy is this thing costs much less than my T300. Heck, it costs less than the _rim_ I have on my T300. I also ordered their load cell pedals to go with it, to replace my CLS Elite load cell pedals. Figured why not stay in the same ecosystem, and I can hopefully sell off my current stuff for a decent price.
I went from Logitech G920 to Cammus C5, and it's quite a large leap in most ways. The pedals that it came with are a downgrade, and I'm planning on getting a fancy Simagic P1000 in a few months to replace them. Built an aluminum cockpit because the C5 was so powerful it sorta damaged my desk's finish, should hopefully have the seat for it within a couple weeks.
When you realize you've droned on about how you don't need a better wheel for years just to realize you were wrong the whole time XD been there done that as well.
For me personally I would say any wheel is okay because I used to have a 70$ cheap wheel with only 180 degrees for some good racing & it did me fine for a year until I upgraded to a G920 witch was very cool with the feedback on NR3(1999) witch was so funny & have a good time
I am one of those people with a stupid high end rig that can’t drive for shit and I have to say this Cammus wheel is an absolute game changer! There’s no need to buy a Simucube 2 pro/ultimate, BUT there is a need to buy this Cammus wheel over the Logitech wheel! It is so much fore fun, I can’t even explain that. The Logitech is like a kiddies electric plastic car compared to the Cammus being a Honda civic! This thing is the absolute gamechanger and if I would’ve bought this after my g29 I think that I wouldn’t have gone full high end. I really think this thing would’ve changed my whole „sim racing career“ if it would’ve been available back then.

The shifters are replaceable there's an official video showing how to change them. It also shows that the shifters are magnetic. I am so glad I ignored the Reddit negativity about it. After 3 months of daily use I still feel in honeymoon period with that wheel.
I'm kinda torn between this and a Fanatec base, wheel and pedals. The problem I have is that I use Linux, so I have to actually pick based on driver support, which is sadly only true for Fanatec, but it does look like this Cammus wheel does also have some FFB drivers on Linux... Sometimes there are downsides to using Linux xD
The years of service you've got out of the G29 shows the best selling point of that wheel. You have to get mad and throw it against the wall to break it!
Hello, Have you downloaded and tested the wheel out with the Cammus wheel tuning app ? You can fine tune the wheel on your phone or on the computer. Changes take affect on the fly.
I'm disabled and steering even with the Logitech can be a lot of work for me, do I want to upgrade to DD? Doesn't it make it physically harder to steer?
I have a moza r5 kit and I’m genuinely thinking about getting a g29. I see so many of my insanely talented friends absolutely light everything up with a basic g29

im in a third world country so ill have to ask a friend in the us to bring one for me. i really liked cammus but i think id rather just pay more and get the r5. why are the paddle shifters made of plastic. they make the front plate out of goddamn carbonfibre and the paddleshifters out of plastic. why are companies so stupid sometimes

It's funny cause everyone has the same reaction, but nobody believes it until they actually try it for themselves. Logitech g wheels are just e-waste at this point. Not a big fan of the cammus c5 but im a big fan of what they're trying to do, and the impact competition has on the market.
