Chers version was a dance song. Adam stripped it down to make it a ballad. His voice in my opinion is one of a kind. He has the ability to emote in whatever genre he sings. Che was speechless after his performance. She gave him permission to record it for his fans!! Loved your last reaction to Adam as well. Would love to hear you react to Who wants to live forever 2016 Isle if Wight, Adam with Queen. Thanks!!

I LOVE ADAM! He is EXTREMELY TALENTED! Cher has a voice that is her own as well. Not many women in music are altos and she made it something, that speaking for myself, made me want to stretch my vocal range. Quick shout out to my chorus and vocal ensemble teacher, Ms. Melody Browning ( not her last name now, since I've been out of school for 30 yrs. ). Anyways I LOVE both artists and many more in all genres.

I mean, he tours with Queen. While nobody will ever match Freddie Mercury, the fact that the OG band members chose him to take on that role says volumes. Check out some of his performances with Queen. Adam Lambert has an amazing vocal range and ability and he does not get enough credit.

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Queen+AL five times so far. His range is superb. @GodBear is right…he is Freddie’s spiritual successor. Each and every performance Queen includes a tribute to Freddie (usually when Brian comes out and has a little one on one with the audience). Adam gives so much credit to Freddie for paving the way for other artists and makes sure the audience knows he’s not trying to be or replace Freddie but that he hopes he’s honoring Freddie by singing his songs. 💜 👑

You NEED to watch Cher signing this song to realize the amazingly different interpretations by both. This was from the Kennedy Center annual honors, and Adam certainly honored her that night. Great choice!!

@@peggyp46 Well, yeah! Sorta But there is better! Like say if someone compared him to George Michael. But there will never ever be another George Michael. Not referring to Wham days, or George’s First years solo but his later years when he really came into his own. The covers he did, the change in. Venues, his song writing and of course his vocals that were , well like no other. There isn’t still and wasn’t up till his passing where anyone. Outdoor day , yeah well he sounds like GM or no one ever said GM sounds like… when he started his career. His voice just evolved to even a greater phenomenon along with his writing songs. Sorry I didn’t pay more attention to what he was doing but Wham, just was ne never my thing but did like a few songs anc sang along with them but then he went in a different direction and never knew . As they suppressed his new material on Purpose! More so here in the U.S U.K.he was number one all the time!!!

For a total change of genre and a real example of Adam’s range and talent try Nessum Dorma done a few weeks ago in Bologna on the European run of the Rhapsody Tour. He did Puccini in Puccini’s city and SLAYS the audience. Queen+AdamLambert sold out arenas all over Europe ,the United Kingdom,and Scandinavia. It’ll knock your socks off.

"Gypsies, Tramp's and Thieves," is my favorite Cher song. She's something else. No one comes close to Adam's lane in music. He's unique. That range is huge and he's never shown as far as I know a weakness in the high or lower registers. An amazing gift for him and for us.

When Adam was doing the tryouts during the Hollywood week of American Idol he actually stripped this song down and performed it like this in 2009. Cher's song is more of a disco club version and used auto tune on purpose for it's sound. The song never really had any meaning to me until I heard this at The Kennedy Center Honors by Adam. It brought tears to my eyes just like it did to Cher's. I'm sure she probably listened to the words differently that night as well. The one song live that I really believe Adam sings better than Freddie live is Under Pressure. He and Roger have such chemistry; well he does with Brian as well; but when he sings Under Pressure live he can hit the high notes. When he sings the "why" in the verse, the way he takes that note into the stratosphere is amazing. Freddie sang it well but live he avoided the higher notes. I still love Freddie! When they were in Bologna last month he surprised the audience by singing from the aria Nessun Dorma. Yes he trained in opera for a little while when he was a teenager and he is incredible! It's a breathtaking 2 minutes of the Queen and Adam Lambert concert in Italy. Like others have said Who Wants to Live Forever at the Isle of Wight or check out his solo music from his last album Closer to You his live session or on the James Corden show or On the Moon on the James Corden show. The guy is incredible and when he covers another singers song I find myself listening to his version over the original artist. He's literally that good and puts so much emotion in the songs. If you watched The Show Must Go On documentary on Netflix I suggest giving it a try. I came away with a lot of respect for Adam and even more than I already did for Brian May and Roger Taylor.

Love Adam, he is fabulous and no other current male singer matches him, in my opinion. One thing folks rarely mention is that Freddie actually was a baritone, and Adam is a tenor. Therefore Adam naturally sings in a higher range than Freddie. Freddie definitely hit high notes (most rock singers can and Freddie is of course legendary) but some have said that the high notes in Queen songs were actually written for Roger to sing.

@@jomardel If he had won, his first album would have been very very different, because AI would have controlled the direction of it and who he worked with.Personally, I feel that it was better in the long run that he lost, and FYE had a truly star-studded lineup of co-writers and musicians regardless. I think he needed to do things his own way, but that is just my opinion.

It was obvious he was the better “everything” that year. When he did not “win”, it changed the integrity of the show for me so I no longer watched it. But I think Adam has gotten the last laugh and is doing fine.

The show just didn't mean much after he lost. Being the frontman of Queen is definitely having the last laugh in my book. Although I still feel like he should be way bigger than he is as a solo artist.

The Cher song was THE FIRST AUTOTUNE song ... before T-Pain Future etc. She used the system to make a disco anthem for the late 90s. Not with a voice coder like Roger Troutman or Peter Frampton. CHER actually use the Auto-Tune to remove the pitch from her voice in the song.

He came in 2nd in 2009 America Idol. Queen flew to L.A. to perform with Adam Lambert for the finale of Idol and it proved such a success that not long after, in November 2011, Adam Lambert was officially the new lead singer of Queen. REBA was inducted the same night as Cher.

Believe is one of Cher’s biggest hits. She used a heavy dose of autotune on the recording, so it’s very distinctive if you hear it. Adam’s version, obviously without autotune, is beautifully done.

"I've encountered it in passing" - The most likely reason you can't place it is because Cher's version is a dance bop, complete with auto-tune. It's one of the first songs I remember using auto-tune for effect. I'm sure there were others before 1998, but this is the first one I remember.

When they broadcast the Kennedy Center Honors in D. C. the audience will be a mixture of politicians, stars of stage, screen, and music so there is no telling who you will see. The Honorees will usually be up in the center box with the President and First Lady or their designated representatives. They were honoring the cast of "Hamilton" this same year so they had the cast sitting together like that because the cast also performed sections of the musical.

Adam Lambert was runner up on American Idol. He is the front runner replacing Freddy Mercury in QUEEN. Just came back from singing for the Queen's Birthday celebration alson with Sir Tom Jones, Sting. Etc. Adam has also been in GLEE with Demi Lovato (playing an electric guitar) for 5 episodes, also is on tour singing a duet with Demi. But this performance was to Honor Cher at the Kennedy Center Honors and Adam has a way of changing the vocals to show off the positive of a song. He did such a good job with "Believe" Got him a standing ovation. Kelly Clarkson didn't even come close honoring Reba McIntire. Also honored was Hamilton. Of course they were awesome with Christopher Jackson. But check out Adam Lambert and Queen. Also you should check out the CMA awards for Carrie Underwood and CeCe Wayans performance and Carrie Underwood "O Holy Night" from the Jimmy Fallon Show. Her vibrato is not to be compared to anyone. And her and Vince Gill singing AMAZING GRACE.

What do you mean? He is onto his 5th solo album and has lots of other projects he does.....voice acting, acting, judging on tv shows....(actually something he said recently confused me....it almost sounded like album 5and 6 is being worked on....).

@Juki P The rock musical's concept album is coming soon (before the end of the year?). He mentioned that something else would be released but it's not necessarily a full album. Could be a collaboration with another artist.

Dude! You must listen to more Cher! This is SUCH a different song than the way Cher sang it. The change in arrangement gives it a very different meaning, IMO. But add more Cher, pronto!

I see a lot of people mentioned Who Wants to Live Forever at Isle of Wight with Queen. If you react to it, make sure you get the slightly longer version where he speaks at the beginning. As far as the people in the audience, many are from the original cast of Hamilton. Anyway, love Adam!

I love Cher, and I love how she did this song.. However, hearing Adam Lambert do it, in my opinion was freaking AMAZING!!! The way he sang it, had so much more emotion, and feeling, it actually brought tears to my eyes.. Such a magnificent job.. If I had ever heard this song by him first, I more than likely would not have cared for Cher's .. Just my opinion..

Cher's version was good, just very campy/ dance tune. Adam turned it into a ballad, and I thought it was beautiful. You really need to see his performance of Who Wants To Live Forever with Queen at the Isle of Wight. Very special.
