Somebody else suggested this and I want to second it. Check out the song Yah Mo Be There - a duet with Michael McDonald and James Ingram. It really highlights both of their vocals so well. One of my all time favorites.

That’s David Pack singing lead and hitting most of those high notes( he’s the lead singer for Ambrosia). He wrote the song for himself, Michael and James to do together. They were appreciatively called the holy trinity! Michael and David had worked in each other’s projects for years. And Michael and James, of course had also worked together. Musical perfection! David did an updated version of this with an intro … after James Ingram passed away. It’s on RU-vid..

Yes. R&B, no matter the color of the singers. True r&b always has those elements of blues and gospel. It has a classic steady downbeat that drives the song and the call and response between the lead singer and the backup singers. The call and response element found in classic R&B is the influence from the traditional black church gospel singing where a lead singer sings and there is a back and forth singing "conversation" with the choir and sometimes with the congregation, that echoes or repeats words or parts of the verse that gives it emphasis and more meaning. Another good example is...Gladys Knight and the Pips singing "Midnight Train to Georgia".

James Ingram has a superlative voice that you cannot miss out on. Ambrosia is a wonderful group. You really need to hear James Ingram with Michael McDonald and the full extended version of the song Yah Mo Be There.

And as others have mentioned, you should react to the James Ingram and Michael McDonald song, Yah Mo Be There. Also James Ingram has a deep catalog of music you should check out. Songs like I Don't Have the Heart, Just Once, and How Do You Keep the Music Playing. Also should react to The Secret Garden produced by Quincy Jones. It features James Ingram, Barry White, El Debarge and Al B Sure. You will absolutely love it!

I always wish that David had arranged the tune so that Michael & James would each take a verse… but David sings all the lead parts, and Michael does that bridge w/David… but James is only heard on the chorus parts, and one of the scat parts at the end. These guys had been friends for years, until James’ passing.

Il faut écrire la partition de tous les instruments et on peut facilement détruire une bonne CHANSON ou au contraire la SUBLIMER c'est selon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. n'oubliez jamais qu'au départ une chanson n'est juste qu'une mélodie qu'il faut littéralement habiller pour en faire un produit fini qu'on appellera une chanson et c'est justement le travail de l'arrangeur.Cette EXTRAORDINAIRE CHANSON DE DAVID PACK en est l'illustration parfaite. Cette version qui n'est pas la version d'origine est littéralement ENTERRÉE par la version ORIGINALE présente sur l'album de DAVID PACK ( que je vous conseille vivement d'aller écouter au plus vite vous allez TOMBER DE VOTRE CHAISE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Et ce simplement parce que les arrangements sont différents !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Been there and there's no real end game except accepting that we love each other but for whatever reason it wasn't meant to be. For some there might be a 2nd chance or even a 3rd but sometimes it's more hurtful to try and try and get nowhere than it is to walk away. You grow, you learn and you eventually move on instead of causing/enduring the pain.

It wasnt Ambrosia on this song. This was originally recorded for David Pack's 1985 solo album 'Anywhere You Go'. This version was remixed for Ambrosia's 1997 Greatest Hits. Now go listen to Ambrosia's 'Angola' and 'Cryin In The Rain'.
