Can you please react to Brian Wilson presents SMiLE? I’ve been asking for a while, and the album will blow you socks off. You are truly missing out on a great one Jamal
Nice but if you want to hear AAA+ vocals check out The Dells "Stay in my Corner' . I'm going to keep trying to get this Reaction out. People need to hear this To quote James Brown "Please, Please, Please" Hurry I'm gettin' old. Jamel could you please give your reaction to what I believe is the greatest singing group of all time . Better than the Temptations, better than the 4 tops, better than Harold Melvin, The stylistics, the Manhattans and the list goes on. They are the Dells. Just listen and tell us what you think. I guarantee you WILL be blown away. They played together for 59 years and had many hits. 'Stay in my Corner" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iX3cOtmyyOc.html
I've met Michael and worked with him a few times in the studio (I'm a session bassist) and he is the MOST quiet, humble, and damned shy performer I've EVER had the privilege of working with.
This was so special. I don't know how long after this performance that we lost James. It was a love event. Even Michael's wife was one of the blond backup singers (the far right). Glad you reacted to this awesome duet.
Kim Carnes is singing backup, too. I forgot what it was called, but this was some big concert thing. Bobby Caldwell (What You Won't Do For Love) was there too as well as David Pack from Ambrosia. When they weren't performing one of their own songs, they were singing backup or playing in the backup band.
This was from the special Michael McDonald A Gathering Of Friends., (2001). He also sings with Kenny Loggins (he messed up the lyrics to one song and couldn't stop laughing) Patti LaBelle, Christopher Cross, and The Dokbies, among others. Great show!
1) That is David Pack from Ambrosia singing backup vocals - right! 2) Steve Gladd the drummer from Steely Dan's Aja track !!! 3) Nathan East on bass guitar WOW!
You've became my favorite to watch ..among all these reaction videos. Youre by FAR the most genuine. Your love of music and the unadulterated joy you get from it is unmistakable.
2 legends giving the people what we want. 😌 If you haven't yet, you must hear James Ingram sing "100 ways" and his duet with Patti Austin, "How do you keep the music playing" Tks Jamal for your always genuine reaction 💕
When you stop and think that in all of the world, these two gifted men were born at a time when the technology was available for their art to thrive, and then they were able to get together and perform like this...we are fortunate to have had them do this, and have it recorded for posterity to have and come back to when we need it.
James Ingram, what a voice! Soul and passion overload. Jamel you should react to his great “I Don’t Have the Heart” which really displays his vocal ability
Please do. James Ingram was one of the musical loves of my life. That voice is so very beautiful. "I Don't Have The Heart " is his very best! Rest well in Heaven, James.
The 3rd member of that trifecta is singing in the background, David Pack from Ambrosia. You cant get much more talent on one stage. Check out the 3 singing Maria from West Side Story likely at this same event. They absolutely slayed that classic. Suprised? No, you arent. You expect no less from these Heaven sent talents.
Had to go find “Biggest Part of Me” after your comment. 👍🏼 David wrote that song in less than 15 minutes while waiting for his family to get in the car haha. Huge song for my life. ❤
This whole concert was amazing! So many great performers and musicians coming together to celebrate Michael. If you get a chance, watch the whole thing.
Holy cow, this takes me back to my childhood. With my parent's musical taste, neither of these two gentlemen were strangers around my house. Wow. Nate Dogg was another singer with a voice like butter, he's so missed. He was the cherry on top of every song he collabed on.
Sometimes we get the chance to really hear great music again. Bringing back the great music and the great singers. Fast or slow, smooth or rough as long as it's great I feel so lucky to see and hear the way it was - AGAIN.
So. Two things. First, I laid my father to rest last week. He was a member of an evangelical charismatic church, whereas I'm more mainstream. So this song sort of bridges the two styles and makes my heart feel better. Second, people don't give a lot of credit to 'white boy funk', the Doobs, Grand Funk Railroad, Wild Cherry, etc. and I think that's kind of unfair. While these bands weren't Parliament or Lakeside, they could hold up well to the Ohio Players and War. Not everybody can be Bootsie Collins, and the world would be a much sillier place if anybody tried, but Micheal MacDonald has definitely made a contribution.
I've always loved Michael ever since the Doobie Brothers, and of course his solo stuff, BUT he's a home boy from the Lou ;0 . I like some of James tunes too.
Jamal could you play some old stuff when the Doobie Brothers were still together and playing their big hits in concert if you can that would be Great, loved them when I was a young kid back in the early to late 70's. Don't care which of their hits you play cause I think all their songs were Great!!!! Thank you! 🤗👍 Your reaction video's are the best!!!!! 🙏🙏🙏
@@nickimontie Right on Nicki, one of my favorites also, Jesus is alright with me to this day had that song on my Doobies greatest hits Lp original vinal and on a few of their other albums. Brings back great memories as a kid. Never wore my hair that long but definitely remember those early to mid 70's Hippie days as a young kid!!!!! Jesus is just alright with me man!!!!!! Peace Brothers!!!!!✌️✌️✌️Right Jamal!!! Peace Out!!!!!😅🤣😂✌️👍
Holy heck that's Nathan East the Beast Slaying it on the Bass! Man he a bad dude just like listen to those killer bass lines on this Live Song. Dude is in the Pocket 😎🔥
Had a chance to meet him in Germany during the mid 1980's at a Prince Hall Masonic function. I stood out to him, because at that time not too many white men were in that predominately black Masonic body. At this time he was all the rage because of hits that were banging several years prior. He's real regular. Good people. And, yes, my brother can blow! What energy on and off stage!
This is from the Michael McDonald and Friends DVD. ITS packed with great collabs ,J!!!! Kenny Loggins and Patti LaBelle are on it too. The blonde singer with straight hair is Mike’s wife, Amy.
Pretty sure that is David Pack of Ambrosia on guitar behind James Ingram and also Kim Carnes singing backup (blonde in the middle). They all worked together on numerous projects!
I saw James Ingram around 2002 in Atlanta on the smooth jazz circuit with Dave Koz, Brian Culbertson and David Benoit. It was phenomenal! I left that building floating on a cloud! ☁️🎶
you need to watch this whole concert on dvd , its a great concert with many guests performing with michael mcdonald !!, right after this song they sing again together with song maria from the movie west side story !!
James Ingram and Patti austin 🙏 '' How do you keep the music playin '' 👌🏽 '' secret garden '' By Quincy Jones feat Barry White, James Ingram, El de barge, al b shure 🙏👌🏽masterpiece
Did you see David Pack of Ambrosia there? He, James and Michael do a gorgeous rendition of Maria from West Side Story in this concert. The whole show- Michael McDonald and Friends is fantastic!
James Ingram have many great ballads. Sometimes you get more from watching live performances, takes things to another level of High Energy. Such great voices. You must see or react to another great collaboration from 1985, Patti Labelle & Cyndi Lauper on Patti Show both singing Lady marmalade & Time after time , awesome!
Oh man, I was at this show! It was a Yamaha sponsored event to honor Michael McDonald at a NAMM trade show in CA. Late 90's or early 2000's... I don't recall exactly. But it was so good! A star-studded group of musicians playing that night.
After all these years, I didn't know this song was about The Almighty! I was a little girl when it came out. I loved the song, but didn't know it was about Him. Wow, so cool! 😁
Man, this was hot!!! I just realized 40 some odd years later, this is a Christian Gospel song. Yah (the Almighty GOD'S name YAH or YAWEH) will be there. Incredible. 🤦🏽♂️
Jamel, just to point out that the third member of "The Other Trinity" (That's what Quincy Jones calls them), David Pack (Ambrosia) was singing back vocals!!
I agree with the comment below. You know what I just noticed in the background. I see David Paek, the lead singer of Ambrosia (Biggest part of Me), You're the Only Woman, etc..) singing background vocals.
