Taking me back to 8th grade, 1987. I still have this cassette tape.. They are still putting out music and touring. Belly of the Beast, In My World, Who Cares WIns...Anthrax likes to have fun they are also metal with a conscious.
Charlie Benante (Anthrax drummer) put out an album of covers recorded during the covid lockdown online with various other musicians. One of my favorites is a Run DMC medley with DMC on the Mike. You should check it out. Also, Anthrax wanted the Beastie Boys to rap on I'm the man, but couldn't work out the logistics and recorded it themselves
"they say rock and metal can never mix"... 😂😂 Anthrax/Public Enemy really set the stage for some great collabs. The Judgment Night soundtrack from 93 is 💯made from rock/metal/grunge bands paired with 90s rappers. Check it out, you'll like it!
My Guy, You gotta check out the soundtrack to the 1993 movie Judgment Night. It's all Rap-rock original songs and all the best rapers and metalheads from the late 80's and early 90's.
I remember this song and video! I was in the 5th grade or so. lol This used to come on Headbangers Ball late at night on MTV. I also had their cassettes back then. I also had Public Enemy tapes. Rap, new wave, punk, metal , pop, R&B, freestyle music, country music. . etc tapes. I grew up on all kinds of music. A lot of those rappers and rock bands in NYC were friends. So they influenced a lot of each other. Some were on same record labels too like Def Jam records. They did a lot of collaborations too during the '80s and '90s.
When this came out.. my buddies and I kept playing it over and over cause it was so funny. It was just goofy fun. And it became a big hit for them. They funniest part for us is the wrong words at the end of each verse. We started making up our own Rhymes and I'd do the same thing it would make my best friend laugh, our other "more serious" friend would get so pissed, which made me do it even more. ha
If you like these genre mix up song. Check out the Judgment Night sound track.. Just about every song is a metal and hip hop group together. My favorite is, Just another victim. By House of Pain and Helmet
Btw, very first rap/rock-'n'-roll combo had been Beach Boys and Fat Boys with Biz Markee, the original beatboxer, with BB's surfing song Wipeout! I hope you check 'em out! 👍 👍
@@StaxReacts'80's rappers Fat Boys also did a heckuva remix of "The Twist" with Chubby Checker, who was Black rock'n'roller who made song popular in '50's!
This was so amazing in 1987 when it came out - Loved it - Hope you have time for some Limp Bizket (Rap/Rock/metal) BREAK STUFF is a good starting point.
I had totally forgotten about this crazy track. The metal guys hated it, the hiphoppers did not know what to make of it, but I liked both genres and saw it for what it was,; a middle finger to convention and another chapter in the rock-rap mix that had started with RUN-DMC, through the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy. Awesome stuff, really cool you enjoyed it too, when you are from two generations later.
Yeah I knew you would like the live version that why I suggested it vs the album version it is slightly different. Also the scream is the comedian Sam Kinison
This song has like 8 versions but the whole hook is that they’re intentionally not rhyming each verse and just having fun. The singer Joey is actually playing drums on this one.
I love this so much!!!!! Love to see a young pup enjoy the magic that is Anthrax🥰 Had the honor of seeing them with Slayer, Testament, Lamb of god and Behemoth a couple yrs back. We’re all A LOT older but they were all amazing 🥰 Epic❣️
I have heared this song a lot between 16 and 22 but the last time is probaly 25 years ago, so this reaction was a good reminder. But my favorit genre in rock music is what they called stoner rock. I'm not sure but i think you have not done a reaction about this genre. I think you should do one. Please do yourself a favor and start with the song gardenia from the band kyuss. There is a good chance that you will like it.
STAX you are digging deep. I remember that stuff from when I was young and they were pushing the genre back then that was when run DMC got Aerosmith to be on their stuff. The first rap song to be really big was Rodney Dangerfield and it’s terrible but listen to that react to that.
This was a great, but kinda one off song bringing the 2 styles together. If you wanna hear a band that did it just as good, but for most of their catalog, check out E-Town Concrete. A good song to start with would be So Many Nights. Highly underated band.
You can’t go wrong with anything off of persistence of time or state of euphoria. Or among the living. Got the Time, End All, Be All, NFL, I am the law, lone justice, antisocial for instance.
