I’ve listened to these guys for a long time and this is the second time where he merged with Pearl Jam and formed Temple of the Dog this is another where he merged with Tom Morello and became AudioSlave power house bands.
Chris Cornell, sang for Audioslave, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and solo. You've stumbled across one of the greatest grunge voices of all time. RIP Chris
Temple of the Dog was a one album one concert to raise money for the family of the lead singer of Mother Love Bone who committed suicide. Eddie Vedder sang on Temple also and would go on to form Pearl Jam with the remnants of Mother Love Bone.
This is the quietest they have ever been during a video🤣rightfully so. When Chris sings you listen. He has been my favorite male vocalist since I was 13. I just turned 45 and he is STILL my favorite male vocalist and will be until I die .
Actually if you research it him Chester and Anthony Bourdain were taken and not by natural causes or mental breakdowns but because of what they were uncovering and trying to stop in Hollywood
@@DefenestrateYourself after Mariah Carey, after Celine Dion ... i mean, whats next? Stupid comparrison ... Layne isnt an opera singer and cant sing notes like Placidom, but better believe it, no opera singer can deliever such powerfull tunes out of their chest even without amplification, he was the most impresive sound to hear
The song is actually about waiting for death… not a loved one of some sort. Chris was a broken man and has a lot of death/suicidal themes in his lyrics. Example “in your house, I long to be” (wanting to die) and “I’ll wait for you there, like a stone” (headstone). He was such a beautiful person. I miss his music so much.
Same. I'm not one to get upset or affected by celebrity deaths, but Chris and Chester both fucked me up. It really sucks knowing I never got to see them live and now I never will.
@@dustinjones1907 i feel you! I saw Soundgarden once at a festival… but I got to see Chris Cornell on his solo tour in a very intimate venue. I almost didn’t go to that show… so thankful I did. Since Chris died, I have gone to every concert of artists that I like when I able… you just never know with that person will leave this earth.
@@keepitsimple3856 yeah, I really loved both of their music, especially Chris. His work really got me through a lot of shit in life and I wish I had the opportunity to thank him and show him some love.
@@dustinjones1907 same here, I'm usually pretty unaffected. But the way this cat wrote and performed was so honest and soulful. And quite a musical legacy, to boot
Tom Morello is a sorcerer on guitar. 🎸 Not to mention, he graduated from Harvard with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. I just saw Rage Against the Machine at Madison Square Garden in August and lost my mind!!! Chris Cornell had such a hauntingly beautiful voice... Gone, but never forgotten. 💜💫🤞🏻🎵
This whole album is phenomenal. The band from Rage Against the Machine with one of the greatest male vocalists of all time in Chris Cornell. All of his work, from Soundgarden to Audioslave to solo, is all great. His voice is second to none (as were several of the grunge singers) and nobody else but Layne Staley could convey the sheer pain and emotion of the songs’ content through their vocals like he did. His covers of both Billie Jean and Nothing Compares 2 U are ridiculously good. I’m a hip hop head but grunge is a close second for me. Their song meanings are more esoteric or hidden in meaning, but they deal a lot with pain, depression, addiction, and relationships. And they all write extremely well from a lyrical perspective…just in a different way than hip hop. Between their voices (they all sing well), their rhythms and the song meanings, you really can’t go wrong with grunge.
Completely agree about the "esoteric" observation. Very obscure wording/themes a lot of the time but i simply love it. It's that very component of grunge lyricism that makes me such a huge fan of grunge in general.
Well, I quite disagree on conveying pain through singing. Veder or Cobain were also on that level, basically because It was one of the main points in grunge since It's heavily influenced by blues.
Definitely not a one hit wonder. He was one of the greats that established the grunge movement in the mid 90s. He was the voice of soundgarden amongst other icons like alice in chains, pearl jam, and nirvana. He also fronted temple of the dog and audioslave not to mention his solo work. The world lost an amazing talent when he left this earth. He was amazing!!
RIP Chris Cornell. Unique voice, one in a million. Chris Cornell formed "Soundgarden" in 1984 and then formed "audioslave" in 2001. There was a brief time in '90 - '91 he formed "temple of the dog" and colab'd with Eddie Vedder of "Pearl Jam". I recommend checking out "hunger strike" from "temple of the dog" and hear both singer's voices.
You just witnessed one of the best rock vocalist of all time. Chris Cornell the singer from Soundgarden and the other members from RATM formed in 2001.Other bangers from Audioslave are Cochise and Show me how to live. You won’t regret it 🤘🤘
This group is basically a supergroup of rock icons. It's a simple song - but it's one that you'll remember for years, particularly the guitar solo. Also, I'm glad the video is simple - sometimes the music videos distract from the actual song.
I seriously recommend "Say Hello 2 Heaven" if you really wanna hear just how talented Chris Cornell was as a singer. His music and openness about his mental health helped me an others immensely, so I'm always happy to see people discover his music. RIP, Chris.
Young men, this is the Great Chris Cornell! You can't go wrong with any of his music. He and Chester (LP) were good friends and losing them both in such a short period of time has left a hole in many of our hearts. RIP GOATS!
Fun fact, this music video was filmed in Jimi Hendrix's old house. I'd highly recommend checking out "Cochise" by Audioslave, which was their debut music video. It's pretty epic.
This is Rage Against the Machine, without their lead singer Zach De La Rocha - In for him is the late, great Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, widely regarded as one of the best singers of the modern rock era. This is very much a super group, hence the billion views. Keep it up - you guys are awesome!
1 year later watching this and it excites me to see people hear Chris Cornell sing. You must read the lyrics along with the song. *SOUL POWER* R.I.P. Chris.
I'd say that I'm jealous they get to hear this song for the 1st time but I've listened to this a thousand times and it still hits me the same way it did when I first heard it. Such an amazing voice.
If you like his voice you may want to check out Say Hello to Heaven which he sang while in a group named Temple of the Dog. One of the best rock voices of all time.
This might sound corny because of social media but I really think that Chris was a deep empath that felt everything around him. His music sounds like actual emotion. It feels like pure release to me.
Audioslave is kind of a mashup band, Chris Cornell from Soundgarden and the rest of the band are members of Rage Against the Machine, who you guys have listened to before. Great band and great music, keep it up guys
Also the singer Chris Cornell passed away was the singer of a grudge group named sound garden. Audioslave are the members of rage against the machine. The other 2 tracks show me how to live and Cochise.
@@defendtheconstitution1776 Other celebrities have spoke up about this and been silenced. Its the same group of people Tom raps about with "The System".
Great reaction! Chris Cornell was such a talented vocalist. Most of his songs have a meaning full of desperation and depression, and that hits me so hard, because my brother died just like Chris. RIP Chris. You are missed and loved beyond measure.
Both Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington from linkin park were dear friends. Both legends that committed suicide. Wish I could have seen them perform live. Their music still lives on and hits me everytime. Definitely check out some more
Chris Cornell had the most beautiful voice ever! If you like this song please check out his live performance of "When I'm Down" at the Troubadour. It's freaking phenomenal. Sadly, this beautiful man was taken from us back in 2017, but his music will live on forever.
Please do more chris cornell!! Whether it be soundgarden, Audioslave or even him in his solo work. Hes gotta be one of the tippy top vocalists there has been...atleast in our generation for sure
Great one guys, sadly lead singer Chris Cornell no longer with us. Check out his solo accoustic work too. One of the greatest rock n roll singers ever. RIP Legend!
God, I miss Chris Cornell. His voice was amazing and he was just beautiful. Check out Soundgarden “Fell On Black Days”. Also, Audioslave “Show me How to Live”. He was also in Temple of the Dog. You should check out “Say Hello to Heaven. I could go on and on. Just welcome to the rabbit hole. ✌🏻❤️
Chris was one of the greatest rock voices ever. He had an incredible talent, he was loved by many artists n fans alike. You guys need more songs from him, even the ballads are bangers, like his version of Nothing compares 2 U
RIP to Chris Cornell, such a beautiful and talented man with a voice and stage presence that will never be duplicated. And that guitar solo that amazed you all was being played by Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. He's absolutely brilliant.
Y'all have stumbled onto a gem! Chris was stellar talent. And this song was damn good, but nowhere near his best. So much greatness from him. Keep delving into his music fr.
Stroke of genius bringing together one of the greatest vocalists of this generation with one of the greatest Rhythm sections in rock you know something good is going to come out of it...
Hey guys, y’all need to review Soundgarden. Fell on Black Days, Burden in my Hand, & Blackhole Sun are probably their biggest hits. I look forward to your reviews every day. Thanks!
Amazing talent. This band is basically Rage Against the Machine with Chris as the singer. He also has sick solo songs. He covers Billie Jean and Nothing Compares 2U.
I chuckled when they assumed audioslave was a one hit wonder, because chris cornell was from soundgarden that had grammy winning singles and, well there’s rage against the machine which was definitely not a one hit wonder
"SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE" and "COCHISE" are MUST from Audioslave!!!👊 Their lead singer is the one and only Chris Cornell (he passed of suicide in 2017)... he was the lead singer for one of the founding 4 "Greats" of early the 90's Grunge bands... SOUNDGARDEN!!💥 Chris was and still is dearly loved by many, across all genres and generations!! There's a gold mine of songs to check out from Chris with his original band Soundgarden, with his second band Audioslave, with his one-time band and their album "Temple of The Dog" (in tribute to Andrew Wood), and also.... Chris has an extensive solo catalogue. This is a rabbit hole you need to dive into!!! Great reaction boys, so glad you liked it!! Chris's voice can dang near literally pierce your soul and give you goosebumps sometimes and his lyrics can hit freaking HARD!! Oh, and once again... "SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE" and "COCHISE" next for Audioslave. Then, consider checking him out with his original band Soundgarden. Soundgarden is widely known as one of the founding 4 "Greats" of the early 90's Grunge movement. They helped bring the underground rock sub-genre "Grunge" to the mainstream world-wide. From Soundgarden, I recommend: "FELL ON BLACK DAYS", "OUTSHINED" and "BLACK HOLE SUN"... 🙏Rest in sweet peace Chris Cornell... "No one sings like you anymore" (a line from his song "Black Hole Sun" with his band Soundgarden😉)
This album was one of the truly transformative ones for me. One of my favorites all-time, cover to cover. Show Me How to Live, Cochise, and I Am The Highway are the other big name tracks but, for me, Shadow on the Sun is the gotta-have-it track. Followed closely by Gasoline and Bring Em Back Alive. Pairing the Rage band's sound with the unparalleled vocal range and power of Chris Cornell was a true gift to audiophiles and I appreciate what they gave us. RIP Chris Cornell. Legend.
Chris Cornell was unlike any other. Such a phenomenal and unique voice. There’s a reason they have an entire tribute concert for him every year where other artists preform his songs. Rip. One of my absolute favorites.
Excellent reaction and I love you guys!! Plenty more Audioslave songs to watch. One being "Show Me How To Live" and "Cochise". Chris Cornell was totally in a league of his own. Sadly missed 😥 RIP Chris ♥️
I got teary eyed listening to him again its been ages since I listened to Chris Cornell cause it makes me feel so sad, he is one of my favorite male voices, has such a unique sound
Chris Cornell was one of the greatest vocalists of all time. I would definitely check out Cochise, Be Yourself and Show me how to Live by audioslave. All of those are killer songs
Check out their song "cochise" !!! Huge hit. This band is the musicians from Rage Against the Machine with the lead singer of Soundgarden (Chris Cornell) singing.
Lead singers name was Chris Cornell, he has since passed away. He fronted many bands all of which were relatively successful. He rose to popularity during tithe early 90s and continued to have mainstream success until his unexpected death in 2017. He was one of the most iconic vocalists of his time. His cover of Princes song “Nothing compares to you.” Is one I would love for you all to react to. Definitely not a one hit wonder and worth checking out if you enjoyed this song.
soooo good....I feel that "I was there so long ago" was the day he was born...and he is trying to get back to innocence. good reaction...love ppl appreciating great music. open minds absorb more. keep it up.
Chris is probably the goat modern rock voice. The 70s and 80s had some monster rock vocalists but from the 90s till now Chris is #1 for me (and many others)
You ought to listen to the whole album, it's great! Shadow on the Sun, I am the Highway, Show me How to Live, Gasoline. Chris Cornell one of the great voices we have lost.
Audioslave is a supergroup of 2 bands Rage Against the Machine and Soundgarden 2 great bands... Chris Cornell in a lot of people minds is one of the greatest voices of the last 30 years RIP Chris a true vocal talent
When I'm Down is one of my favorites of his from his first solo album Euphoria Morning. All Night Thing or Call Me a Dog from Temple of the Dog. The list for him is nearly endless. Oh, and Sunshower from the Great Expectations soundtrack.
You can't go wrong with anything by Chris Cornell. Cochise really highlights Chris' vocal range. I also highly recommend Fell On Black Days by Soundgarden, his other band. RIP Chris. ❤️ Ps - the other band members are all from Rage Against the Machine!
Chris Cornell is one of the best voices in rock.. one of the founders of the grunge movement and was the lead vocalist for Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog along with Audioslave. You should check out Linkin Park - Crawling (Live with Chris Cornell). Chris and Chester were great friends. He also did a lot of solo work including an album with Timbaland and for several movie soundtracks.
I finally subbed to you guys. This is my favorite song and it has alot of meaning. You guys have grown on me. Especially guy in the red hat going crazy all the time 😂 love his energy. We need that feel good stuff. Keep doing a great job. Feel out the music. Love yall
Everything that Chris Cornell sang is worthy of listening to. His hauntingly beautiful and intense voice is one of those that will be remembered forever. I truly hope you take the chance to listen. Jesus Christ Pose from Sound Garden is amazing!
Audioslave is one of my favorite alternative bands. The whole album that "Like A Stone" is off of is worth a listen. "Getaway Car" and "Show Me How To Live" are my favorites off that album.
