Paul Rodgers is one of the best front men in rock history. Known as a super group, they blended so well from their debut and on. One of my favorite groups.
I actually ran into Paul Rodgers a few years ago he lives in Kelowna BC and he came to Victoria on a mini vacation since his kids live here. He was very well spoken
More Bad Company to try: their eponymous song, "Bad Company," "Silver Blue, and Gold," "Run with the Pack," "Young Blood." One of my favorite rock bands from the '70s.
Love this song. This was off their 1974 debut album, which also had "Can't Get Enough". They also had a song called "Bad Company" (no, really) and "Movin' On", that I think you'll love.
Paul Rodgers was also in a band called The Firm with Jimmy Page (Led Zepplin) on guitar. Their songs 'Radioactive' and 'Satisfaction Gauranteed' are pure gold and they do a fine cover of Righteous Brothers' "You've lost that loving feeling". Check them out.
My older sister was big into Bad Company, Bob Segar, Eagles...we played Bad Company by Bad Company when her husband died last year at the receiving! BAD COMPANY...awesome.
First heard this song in 1972. Mott the Hoople. The "All The Young Dudes" Album. Written by Mick Ralphs, lead guitarist for Mott the Hoople at the time. He later became lead guitarist for Bad Company. Hence, their recording of this tune.
Before forming Bad Company Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke were in a band called Free. You guys may enjoy the Free song 'Lying In The Sunshine' and hear how a song should be sung.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Bad Company. And Paul Rodgers, I believe, is among the GOATs as a vocalist. I was at a Joe Bonamassa concert at the very intimate Beacon Theatre when the surprise guest was Paul Rodgers. I cheered and screamed so loud I may have embarrassed my husband. He did not disappoint!
Yes he is. Absolutely. Legend. Saw him with Bad Company in the 1970’s and with Queen in 2008, he was even better then!! There’s a vocal coach on RU-vid called Ken Tamplin who is in total awe of Paul Rodgers , go check him out.
Many moons ago I worked at silk screen studio with a bunch of other hippies, including the shop foreman. Every day at lunch time this song would come over the sound system to let us all know it was was time for a break. Then we would all dance our way to the door singing "Ready for lunch, oh baby, I'm ready for lunch." We would all pop into the nearby tavern for some pub grub and pints. It was a very casual place to work. This song always brings a smile to my face....oh, and Boz Burrell's fretless bass is monstrous.
Speaking of funky Please react to the band Brick and there song Dazz, The video with the cigar in his mouth . Its from 1975 ,, Its so so funky.. You 2 will put it on your play list I PROMISE ,, Take Care
My favorite vocalist Paul Rogers, Simon Kirk on drums, Mick Ralphs guitarist & Boz Burrell on bass. Simon Kirk was a big influence on my drumming when I was younger. *** Fun Factiod Paul & Simon played with the band “ “ Free”. Mick came from “Mott the Hoople” & Boz was with” King Crimson “***
Paul Rodger’s voice is 🔥🔥🔥 In a documentary I saw, Mick Ralphs had this song, “Movin’ On”, and “Can’t Get Enough” already written before Bad Company came together. All 3 of these songs are on this album!! Gotta check out “Bad Company” off the same album!! The piano playing by Paul Rodgers is another form of bad assery!! 🤟🤟🤟
Paul Roger's is one of the greatest singers to ever grace this planet, regardless of the genre. Also, check Paul out as the lead singer in the band he formed with Jimmy Page (from Led Zeppelin) called "The Firm". Peace
This album was on a loooot of car stereos when it came out…as heard from the back seat. This has a cool little shuffle under it, but the chorus is unmistakably in line with the lyric, that understated power chord. Scuse me but it’s a “walk down and F ‘em all” kind of groove, smooth and easy and taking its time.
I think this is my favorite Bad Company song. It highlights Rogers' unique voice and their ability to combine soft melodies and and a hard edged chorus.
If I had a nickel for every time I jammed to this album and got SOOOO baked....lol!! Good times.... U can't not enjoy their music! Great reaction and love your take on the guts of this song!! 👍👍
I saw Bad Co. in concert in 1979 and they played this song. The whole night was oldies plus songs from Desolation Angels (that was the tour). The whole band is a tour de force of rock, they were tight.
More Bad Company “Live for the Music”*** “Gone Gone Gone”*** “Good Lovin Gone Bad”*** “Sweet Little Sister”*** “YoungBlood”*** “Run With the Pack” “Honey Child”*** “Movin On”*** All from the 70’s
The Firm was an amazing super band with Paul Rodgers from bad company and jimmy page from led Zeppelin. They weren't together long but made some great music.
@@sanzoftatooine I've been lucky enough to have attended hundreds of concerts over the years. Seeing them for both of their tours at Cobo hall in Detriot probably in my top 5.
He has one of those voices like Elton John that if you aren't paying attention you don't notice how exceptional their tone and control is. How soft to be or how to put just a little grit in there. His powerful notes always are graceful if that makes sense.
This song is a great example of how to use space in a song and let the arrangement breathe life into the song allowing each instrument to color the song.
Paul Rodgers is amazing. He can still hit every note he could 50 years ago. The man is probably, IMHO, the best singer in rock. I have been singing this song now for over 20 years in the band I am in and I love doing it. The feel of this song is amazing. Great song, great choice. You can't choose a bad song at all from their catalogue.
One of my favorites from Bad Company is “Movin On”. It’s my “traveling song”. Another great ballad from Bad Company is “Silver, Blue, and Gold”! It’s one of my all-time favorites.
I saw this group as a lead off act at a concert.. BY THE TIME THEY WERE DONE, THE AUDIENCE COULD HAVE CARED LESS WHEN THE "STAR ACT" CAME ON!!! As a matter of fact a lot of people even left... Bad Company was awesome.... Keep on keepin' on. BCNU...
“Burning Sky” , “Rock and Roll Fantasy”, “Silver Blue and Gold” are ones to check out. “No Smoke without a Fire”, “If you Needed Somebody” are a couple later songs that had lots of airplay with Brian Howe singing for them.
Excellent choice! Christopher mentioned Mott the Hoople (David Bowie connection). These guys would be great to feature. Paul is a classic lead rock voice. His work with Jimmy Page/ The Firm and also Free is also very worth a reaction!
Saw Mott twice, they were immense! Also, 2 future supergroups, who were unknown in the early 70s opened one show each: Queen and Aerosmith. You could tell already they were going to be big, they had amazing chops right away.
@@vicprovost2561 I saw recently that in '80 Ian Hunter and Todd Rundgren (yes...A Wizard a True Star 😉) played a couple shows at the Agora in Cleveland. I sure wish they'd have done more. But who hasn't Todd worked with/produced!
One of my favorite Bad Company songs. Bad Company was a super group made up of 3 other successful bands. The great vocals of Paul Rodgers, who also plays the piano & guitar & drummer Simon Kirke was from the band Free. Mick Ralphs who plays lead guitar & piano was from Mott The Hoople & bassist Boz Burrell was from King Crimson. All those bands are awesome to & you guys should check them to. There's a lot to hit from Bad Company. Their first 3 albums are fantastic, not a bad cut on any of them. But here's a few of my favorites that you haven't hit yet. Rock Steady Bad Company Movin' on Run with the Pack Simple Man Burnin' Sky Seagull Can't get enough Gone, gone, gone Silver, Blue & Gold There's so much more that you could get into, but that's a few. Most of those songs are still played on the radio today & yet, never even nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
This is, actually, a cover of "Ready For Love" by: Mott The Hoople [it features on their, iconic, All The Young Dudes album], which Mick Ralphs (guitarist), originally, wrote it for and who brought it with him, when he left to join the newly formed "superband": Bad Company, with the ex-members of Free (and King Crimson). Just "f.y.i.": Bad Company (besides being the primary basis for Paul Rodgers' fame and recognition) were, in fact, the first band signed to Led Zeppelin's iconic: Swan Song record label (I mean, i guess, BESIDES ZEPPELIN, itself!). Their debut album [Bad Company (self-titled)] was the first album released on Swan Song. [With the famous/infamous "doomed Icarus" logo icon.... which designated the label -and, in many ways/to multitudes of people, also designated Led Zeppelin, as well....-] There are quite a few legendary Bad Company tracks for you to hear. "Run With The Pack", "Burnin' Sky", "Gone, Gone, Gone", "Silver, Blue & Gold" ...but, probably, MOST important and most iconic: the band-named/titled song OFF of the band's self-titled debut LP (THIS, very, one!): "Bad Company" NO song more epitomizes the sound and attitude of Bad Company than "Bad Company" (probably: intentionally!). Dusty, Dirty, Sweaty, pseudo-Western, Bluesy, threatening, powerful, swarthy, melancholy, resigned, definitive, powerful, l.... 🤘🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💥 GO, listen to it, NOW!!!!!
I was already familiar with the Mott the Hoople version (with it's shared vocals with Ralphs & Hunter for variety) when I bought the Bad Company album (because of the Ralphs connection). I liked this track as it was a different interpretation rather than an attempted clone of the original. Interesting that this one continues onto After Lights without crediting it as such.
@@stevegreen5552 Agreed! I, always, found that ..."intriguing" (after discovering it). -I did NOT become familiar with Mott The Hoople 'til a good deal later (I was a Luther Grosvenor fan and had ZERO idea about: "Ariel Bender" until YEARS later!!!😝🤪) so I knew THIS (the Bad Co. version) version, first. Agreed! "making it your own"/taking things in a different direction is the ONLY, real, intelligent, useful way to go about those things. Trying to, just, "reiterate" something that has already been done (and done EXTREMELY WELL, if not "perfectly" (using that as a "descriptor" ...but NOT, actually, intending to mean that: perfection is POSSIBLE 🤪🤘🤘).) is ...**smh** - NOT the best ...and, usually: FAILS! ...however: sometimes EXACTLY MIMICKING the ORIGINAL is the ONLY, viable way of giving the piece the respect it's due & executing it to its best possible. 🤘🤘
@@stevegreen5552 Oh: "b.t.w.": My experience with Mott The Hoople (of course!) begins at: hearing "All The Young Dudes" on the radio (and, at the time: NOT, 'really' "getting it." (i.e.: not getting it WHATSOEVER!!😝🤪🤘🤘), but, in earnest: it was Joe Elliott's and Steamin' Steve Clark's, great, fandom (I was -& remain!- a huge Lep fan! -Particularly, the Pete Willis albums (although I an one of those FEW, early, NWoBHM fans who DID NOT "dismiss" the HYSTERIA album!🤘🤘 It's their last GREAT work. Definitely!), that convinced me to investigate: Mott The Hoople, more fully. Brain Capers is my favorite (and I have a, strange, "soft spot" for: Mad Shadows, too (although, to a much lesser-degree than: BRAIN CAPERS!🤘🤘) -I mean, HOW can you beat a horrible-wonderful, defeatist title such as: "Death May Be Your Santa Claus"-??!!!😝🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣😁🤦🤦🤷😝🤣😂 ...of course: All The Young Dudes is a spectacular album. as well! Mott and The Hoople, both, hold-up well. Post-Hunter/Ronson ...they, just, didn't have anything, anymore. ...but, fortunately: Hunter/Ronson were GREAT! ...and, yes: Mick Ralphs was spectacular with Bad Co. 🤘🤘 No question. (although: I DO wish he had continued to use his more wide-ranging style, more, even IN BAD COMPANY. 🤷 ...Y'know??) 👍👍👍👍
Great great band, saw them live in the 70s along with Foreigner , More awesome sounds Journey "Mother-Father" is truely amazing, 10cc " I'm not in love" etc. i dont think u could ever run out of great music. Thanx so much, Peace
Now I'm on my feet again. Better things are bound to happen, all my dues surely must be paid. Great line. Paul Rodgers one of the truest rock voices of all time.
This is my wife and my song. I used to sing it to her at Karaoke. We played it at our wedding. It was my second marriage and her third and meant to us we were finally ready for love. Still going strong after 14 years together. Thanks, Bad Company!
One of the best. They could make a four minute or less rock song sound almost epic. Great for radio airplay in the '70s. And Paul Rodgers voice has such a subtle but powerful sound to it. Live, he lets it rip. The whole band does.
'' Can't get enough of your love '' is a must next ❤ awesome band and lead singer Paul Rodgers is the Bomb ❤ he was lead singer, for the band Free, you must do '' Wishing Well '' Jay would love that one ❤
Bad Company...the band of my high school years. Their title hit-Bad company, Running With The Pack, Movin On, Can't Get Enough, and the beautiful Seagull are such terrific songs.
