The reason the Finnish bands are so good is simple: Metal is part of pop culture there. You can also make your money with metal there. Correspondingly, many musicians are willing to try their hand at it and the quality / competition is high. For a country with only 5.5 million inhabitants, there are extremely many good bands there.
@JariJuslin
@JariJuslin 2 года назад
And for several decades when teenagers got into music, especially boys almost always started with a guitar and trying to play metal classics. Check for example Aleksi Laiho, who won awards for his skills on guitar.
@MikkoRantalainen

Finland also has free education for everybody and really good music schools so many bands have proper education in addition to talent regardless of their financial background status.
@Mischnikvideos
@Mischnikvideos 2 года назад
@@MikkoRantalainen Good free education is also available in other countries. But then the metal isn't on the radio.
@MikkoRantalainen
@MikkoRantalainen 2 года назад
@@Mischnikvideos That's true. If you are starting a new band, you obviously start by playing songs similar to ones you already like. And if you never hear any metal music, it's much much harder to start with a metal band. Metal music is so common here in Finland that some avoid listening Nightwish simply because it's considered *too mainstream* and listening it wouldn't be cool. One example (just to show that it's not about not being musical): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FwPWKIPPFIw.html (turn on closed captions to understand what's she speaking in Finnish).
@Mischnikvideos
@Mischnikvideos 2 года назад
@@MikkoRantalainen The criticism is justified. Symphonic is close to pop and Floor proves it with their solo stuff. That's a good thing, because it can open the door to other metal. Anyone who found Metal bad before can become curious about more.

If some bands are at their best in live performances, then this is indeed one of those bands 🔥🔥!! Noora's singing voice is from another planet. I love that distortion and the edge in his voice. Female Dio 4ever 🎶!!

Now you made me say this: you know Amaranthe's Elize Ryd's grandfather was a Finn, a jazz musician who moved to Sweden. Elize has on her RU-vid About-page she is a "songwriter and singer from Sweden/Finland." Well I was her fan long before that news, I don't need that, but I'm just happy she is every year regular in Raskasta Joulua concert tour. Wouldn't be the same wihout Elize. She is also a god friend of Noora's (heard from Elize), that's how they ended making a song together for Amaranthe. Both are really nice and courageous people, so I would not wonder they found a "common tune."

This got some 80’s sound and Ann Wilson vibes in Nooras vocals. Noora are such a powerful singer. This is one of my favorites by them. 😀

Tomi Joutsen (Amorphis) definitely. And I would add Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius), even that his live performances are sometimes little bit off, or not as good as album versions, he is great.

I was lucky to see them live maybe two weeks ago, before covid hit again. Noora is incredibly versatile singer and the whole band just rocked! And since you asked from Finnish male singers: well, obviously Marco Hietala (Nightwish, Tarot), also Kepa Salmirinne (Zero Nine). Try ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZZxb_3_9cVk.html

Battle Beast, is to me Beast in Black but with the lead singer gender opposite. Both bands have talents that are unmatched. 🤘🏻

Finland has the highest metal bands per capita ratio in the world. The bar for bands to get ever exported is very high. If you want to see male singers, try Marco Hietala (Nightwish, Tarot), Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica) or Jarkko Ahola (Teräsbetoni etc). I see you heard Tomi Joutsen of Amorphis already, that's good.

You also have Sonata Arctica from Finland, and Stratovarius. But if you like female metal vocalists you should absolutely check out the bands Brothers of Metal and Metalite. Both are from Sweden and have a female singer. Brothers of Metal - Kaunaz Dagaz. Metalite - Far from the Sanctuary.

Yeah there was a climatic part indeed in the song. The song imho has this atmosphere that it is building suspense, something's agout to happen. "Master of Illusion" is my fav of the singles, but when I heard "Where Angels Fear to Fly" first time, I really, really liked it. There's couple of yawning moments there for me, but overall it's a good song too. Did you hear that Noora has her own character in League of Lergends now? In the metal band Pentakill that is "within the game". Some winged demon woman. For the voice that's right. By the way, my interpretation of the video is, that Noora's character is one angel who dared to go there.

Hi there Tom Liked your reaction on Battle Beast and if you like the 80`s metal vibe you got to check out "Black Ninja" from an older album dont remember the name of it, but it`s good there she really kind of sounds abit like Ronny James Dio when she hits the really high notes, the hole song is very Early to mid 80`s vibe, for ex Saxon, Accept and of course earlier mentioned DIO , That is at least my opinion about it, I have seen your Nightwish reactions too , i am a fairly new Nightwish fa, but i`ve known about them of course cause i am Finn but i live in Sweden for the moment, I am an even newer Battle Beast fan so in hope you Keep on reacting to BATTLE BEAST and of course other bands and hope you have a really Nice weekend. Greetings from Sweden

I don't know if you have been told, but Noora was not the original singer of this band, and it's actually pretty funny story how she ended up with them: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S2mr_lalwc0.html But if you haven't heard their original singer Nitte Valo you should. I'm not saying that she is better than Noora, but she is really good. Try Iron Hand (official live): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q2HAi9vkSno.html
