Thank you for saying it.. This is like not even really hearing the same song that Jimi Hendrix fell in love with. This is just lifeless I contrast to the original on “Highway 61 Revisited”.
NOT the real Dylan. a poser. Bob Dylan is unique-- alone in his style. this is not raw like the original. Quick Compare --you will see what I mean. I grew up with Dylan's music, with that song as my absolute favorite for about 35 years (until I replaced it with a Beatles song).
Bob Dylan has a very unique voice (he's definitely not a vocalist - he's a poet - but you know it's Dylan when you hear him). The person singing the song in this video is not even close to imitating the real Dylan.
Yes! Bob Dylan's original version was the best rock song of that era! Bob D's "Positively 4th Street" is another one, where he tells another user exactly how he feels about her/him, he holds nothing back, especially the last line, love it!
This is almost Bob Dylan, but it’s not. It’s someone trying to sound like him. There’s something about Dylan himself singing this that makes you actually feel the song. He is one of the greatest song writers of all time. Along with Leonard Cohen, Billy Joel and any member of Crosby,Stills,Nash and Young.
I hope you guys react to the real Bob Dylan. Songs like " Hard Rain " and " Idiot Wind" are like rocks thrown through your window. You already reacted to "All Along The Watchtower " and " Knocking On Heaven's Door ".
A Do-over is mandatory! This was a clumsy performance, and lacks the character that is Dylan. The only cover of this song worth listening to (after hearing the original) is a live version by Jimi Hendrix from the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. 🤘 Check out Bob's version, then check out Jimi.
This is my favorite Dylan song. For a guy 73 year old guy who lived when this song was popular, it holds a lot of memories. It was a time of turmoil and change. Families divided over philosophy and politics and mistakes. Very deep lyrics. The government was the man stealing life from the youth and like a paradox, at the same time providing the catalyst for change. Dylan was involved with the freedom fighter. He was one of the voices clamoring for change, a poet of the 60s holding the nation accountable.
Actually this song is about a woman who grew up in a rich family and looked down on everybody "beneath her" but then did not take advantage of everything she had given to her, and depended on a guy that wasn't Worthy and ended up in a bad situation.
It also talks about the importance of humility! No matter how high up you make it, NEVER look down at anybody! You could lose it all in the blink of an eye!
Took me many years to get my head around Dylan, made a trip to NYC w/my GF, (she's a big Dylan fan,) just to see him live in 2019, in the top 3 of best live performances I have ever seen now.
She was right. Dylan song is us is them. Is you. Is everyone life . Ours ups and down. She expressions in her face when she got into the lyrics. Right on point.
I've heard it's difficult to find Dylan videos that don't get blocked, so I'm not surprised you landed on a cover. But at least you got to hear a decent version that stays pretty true to the original and those amazing lyrics. My favorite Dylan, and I love his all eras of his music, is probably Forever Young.
Thank you for sharing what most people are either too embarrassed or feel too private to share what they had to go through. Humility and empathy are something precious and much respected and appreciated. I'm glad you both found each other. God sent you each other. We all go 'through it' to some degree. I'm very blessed and very fortunate to have so much and 'Never forget' who I am and what's important in life. Love your channel guys. God Bless 4/10//22
Like a Rolling Stone is Rolling Stone magazines number one song of all time Bob Dylan has always said there is no real true meaning to his songs it's what it means to you
Legend and legendary songwriter/poet 😍 listen to Jimi Hendrix' cover version of this song. 👍 Love you two, and Asia, congratulations on being a strong woman survivor 💕
Asia, I got vibes from you the discomfort in this song hitting close to home with some difficult times in your past. The good news is you survived those times and have made a much better life for yourself..... got a helluva man on your arm and I am very happy for you both. Great reaction guys, thanks.
Asia, I'd never guess that you had that level of difficulty. I hope that this Christmas brings you a treasure of the Lord's Blessings for you and the love of those close to you in your world. It's the only and best present I can find that I can offer to you this year. He is the reason for the season.
Love you guys but try and make sure you are getting Bob’s version. The comment section of each video should tell you if it’s a cover version or not. Try again.
Bob Dylan was criticized for Electrifying this song. The Band was his backup band. I think you reacted to the Band's Last Waltz with The Staples Singers.
I've been listening to this song for longer than you two have been alive but it was really nice to listen to it again through your perspective. Never having been homeless, I have always heard it differently. But that is why I love reaction videos. You guys did a great job and this song (though not the original) clearly spoke to you which is what music is supposed to do. Thanks for your take on this. I will hear it differently going forward
Dylan is talking about a person from a privileged upbringing that loses their wealth. Now they have to live on the street, scrounge their next meal, etc….they live the vagabond life, moving from one location to the next…like a rolling stone….
He stood out in the mid 60's as a folk rocker because spoke facts and it made you feel uncomfortable which was the point. The world is not all one color...prosperous and one religion. Its complicated and messy and the unknowns need to be seen , heard . fed and treated humanely. Dylan was rappin as rappers do today about pain and struggle. Man so glad you reacted to this song. Its one of many real voices out there spittin facts and truth. ;)
Bob Dylan has been a treasure and a pleasure to the fabric of American music since the 196o's. His influence on groups like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, the Doors, Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, and everyone since cannot be quantified. The fact that he is still releasing more music now than at any time during his career is mind-blowing. Try these two sterling songs and enjoy. YOU GOTTA SERVE SOMEBODY & HURRICANE. And I have request for your other channel. Since Asia mentioned basketball on her other channel, how about watching the Larry Bird mix-tape and give it a review. Just saying.
Not Bob Dylan, He sounds much better than this guy, but pay attention to the lyrics... they are great lyrics like all his Songs... when u listen the real one you'll be transported to a place and moment even though the lyrics relate so much to today life....
Okay, one more comment. In case you don't understand Bob's influence on music and the generation past and in the future, Bob has more than 700 songs he wrote and performed. He just recently ( last year) sold his musical catalog for 300 Million Dollars. Now, you tell me you can't dig down deep and hear the True Bob Dylan. Have you got 300 Million Dollars? Does any entertainer out there? And we're not counting what he's already worth! But God forgive him, he's 80 yrs old. Sell it Bob!
Y'all should check out Bob Dylan - Maggie's Farm, then listen to Rage Against the Machine - Maggie's Farm cover. So dope lol. Then maybe check out Old Crow Medicine Show - Wagon Wheel (a Dylan Song I believe)
Not Bob, BUT it is HIS song.....written in 1965. Other musts from his catalogue: "Mr Tambourine Man", "Only a Pawn in Their Game", "It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding", "Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll", "Hurricane", "Thunder Mountain", among just a few...... ' Performed at MLK's march on Washington....
What a bummer. I’ve heard other channels react to this too and half the time it’s the wrong version. Wish you could’ve been properly introduced to one of ma all time favorite songs. Bob Dylan us a folk rock singer popular during the Vietnam war time. Oldies are a few trays before that
When you listen to American pie you got a remember the day the music died when Buddy Holly Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper died in a plane crash February 3, 1957 and BJ you were right all of the images in the song refer to music as the years went on went on
I don't really know whether Dylan had a specific woman in mind when he wrote the lyrics, probably not but... I felt like he was kind of making a point about people who laugh at those who are down and out, then find themselves in that same spot.... "How does it feel?"
The original studio recording will sound entirely different. The original recording led its session musicians to work with other great artists like Jimi Hendrix who wanted to emulate the new sounds introduced in the original recording. One was Al Cooper who played organ in this session and went on to play organ parts for great song. Cooper confessed later that he didn’t actually know how to play organ when he performed on this recording. He was a guitarist who managed to BS his way into the session. Dylan really liked his playing and Al Cooper would go on to form Blood Sweat and Tears and discover and produce Lynyrd Skynyrd. ✌️🎸 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XOtw_GVEcOU.html
Jimi Hendrix did Dyan's Like A Rolling Stone (Winterland) too, there's a few online😐 but I can't find the one I like online, pick it up off of Amazon, it's about 11 minutes long
Of course no one will ever be able to fully replicate Dylan's music, but I thought this was a respectable cover. They didn't try to put their own spin on it, and the singer even tried to use the same Dylan phrasing.
How do people sometimes pick the wrong version when the first few results that appear when you search the name are always the correct one? Do people who request the reaction send the wrong link or something? What am I missing?
He's singing about someone who looked down on the 'little people', but now is one of them. It may be about Edie Sedgwick, who Dylan once dated, then she took up with Andy Warhol, who used her and her money, then discarded her broke.
