This song was written by T Bone Walker in 1947. Bobby recorded his version in 1961. The Allman Brothers recorded it on their 2nd studio album, and the live album, At Fillmore East in 1971.

@bluesrock1: It was NOT on their second studio album.

Saw Bobby Blue Band at Red Rocks years ago. They had the Colorado Blues Festival. Bobby Blue opened, then came Albert King, followed by BB King, and finally Stevie Ray Vaughn. At the end they all came out and played together. Show lasted over 6 hours. Best $17 I ever spent!

This takes me back to my childhood when my parents would be playing classics like this on the record player. Some other great songs of his are ain't no love in the heart of the city, members only, kiss me to the music, straight from the shoulder, and you've got to hurt before you heal.

Oh my goodness, this is such a great old classic blues song!🎶 I believe T-Bone Walker originally wrote it. Check out The Allman Brothers singing it as well. Thanks so much guys for reacting to this one. I am in total chill mode now.🍂🍃🧡

I have to say that BJ is right, the blues goes ack to the 1800s. It didn't sound like it does now, it came out of work songs, and how hard the times where.

Hey guys - the blues go back as far as human history - that's why they are so powerful. By the late 1800s many older forms were coalescing into the blues. The oldest recorded blues as we now understand them might be - last kind word - by Geechy Wiley - it may also be the best.

There's an album called BB King and Bobby Bland Together for the First Time, which is quite possibly the finest live album ever released.

He did a couple of live albums with BB King. They do this song. Amazing stuff. If you want to go way back to the blues roots try Robert Johnson, IMHO.

A lot of experts will point to "St Louis Blues", written by W.C. Handy in 1914, as the first well known blues tune. Not exactly sure, so if I have erred, my apology.

The blues started in the 1860s but it became more popular in the early 1900s. Just like what genre of music, it has changed over the years. The blues predates jazz, which was born from the blues and so was rock ‘n’ roll. “Blues is a music genre[3] and musical form that originated amongst African-Americans in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s.[2] Blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads from the African-American culture. The blues form is ubiquitous in jazz, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll, and is characterized by the call-and-response pattern, the blues scale, and specific chord progressions, of which the twelve-bar blues is the most common. Blue notes (or "worried notes"), usually thirds, fifths or sevenths flattened in pitch, are also an essential part of the sound. Blues shuffles or walking bass reinforce the trance-like rhythm and form a repetitive effect known as the groove.”
