I tell my uninitiated R&B friends that Conway Twitty was the Luther Vandross of country. He made housewives tremble. Southern humorist Lewis Grizzard used to use "putting on some Conway Twitty" as a euphemism for getting in the mood. The OG country panty dropper. 😎

You think He was the Vandross if country. I thought maybe Charlie Rich, ( the silver Fox) or maybe some other big names. But Conway?? Yeah lot of women did like him but the Luther Vandross? Eeh nah. Hahaha. Tom Jones is a more likely candidate I think. He did some country. But I think you're pretty much talking about the whole genre of country.. maybe close yeah. As far as just the voice though I respectfully disagree. Haha

I met Conway in 1974 when I lived in Nashville. He was such a down to earth sweet man. If you didn't know he was a country superstar you'd never guess it. His favorite thing to wear was old blue jeans and tee shirts. I'll never forget the day he died. It absolutely broke my heart. He was the best. 💔♥️💔♥️

I love that classic country from the 70's. Nothing today like that. My parents were married for 70 years. They met at a dance and danced their way through life until they both passed in 2008, just 90 days apart. Conway was one of their favorite artists to dance to. They taught all of us kids how to dance, too. Thank you, Mom & Dad ♥ Check out Vern Gosdin if you want some good classic country. (Love your videos! Keep 'em coming)

We're coming to the end of our run in next 15 or 20 years and the only thing I worry about is what will the one who survives do...I can't imagine life without my wife but I feel so fortunate for what we've had together...If you are with the love of your life hang on and enjoy the ride...Love you guys...Keep up the good work...

Country music career. CowayTwitty always wanted to record country music, and, beginning in 1965, he did just that. Disc jockeys on some country-music radio stations refused to play his first few country albums, because he was known as a rock and roll singer. The girls were crazy about Conway Twitty.

I always interpreted the lyric "if I Can I know that I'd still love to lay you down" to mean if he could srill get it up as an old man. To pick her up and then lay her down is a whole other story.. Nice job. I like your videos.

Conway is the best. His voice can melt you. If you listen to enough of his songs, you will hear that he has several key changes within each song. He was amazing. My Mom met him and got a hug 1 week before he died from an abdominal aneurysm. I saw him in concert when I was a teenager and just fell in love with him. His final album, "Final Touches" would have been his best album ever but he died and it was never properly promoted. There are some awesome songs on it.

Here is something, Asia and BJ. Conway Twitty (real name Harold Lloyd Jenkins) had a R&B top 40 hit. "Lonely Blue Boy" made it to #27 on Billboards R&B Chart in 1960. It also made it to #6 on the Pop Chart. His biggest Rock a Billy song was "It's Only Make Believe" Billboard Top 100 charted at #1. It took almost a year for it to get there. It was a number 1 hit in 21 other counties too. You may want to listen to "Hello Darlin" also. Conway Twitty had 55 number 1 hits on the Country charts. It was the most of any Country Star for 20 years until George Strait broke the record. Thank you for the video, Asia and BJ. RIP Conway Twitty September 1, 1933 to June 5, 1993.
