That's one of the big reasons why I love their music. I can hardly ever hear or notice the bass in other songs that I listen to. And I'm not consciously an avid bass guy, but when it sticks out in rock songs, I love it.

Scott Stapp is the lead singer great today, he’s going on 7 years of sobriety and happy & healthy! He and his wife Jaclyn welcomed a son in 2017 and reaches out to his audience at his concerts to ask for help to inspire them that it’s a strength to ask for help to not be ashamed! He sounds great and he’s in top shape, life is good and Creed is my favorite band had so many great songs with meaning! I highly recommend One, What’s This Life For, One Last Breath, My Own Prison, Rain, What If, Bullet, Arms Wide Open and Faceless Man, My Sacrifice and these are a few! I hope you react to all of them! All Creed members are good with each other today, I’am waiting on them to get back together, if not now then when!

Being from Tallahassee where Creed got their start we used to see them all the time. They always had to fight the stigma that they were a Christian rock band which they weren't even though stapp had his lyrics that kind of made it seem like that at times. It was fun to see them go from playing bars to being successful. Scott stapp did have amazing voice and Mark tremonti was a very underrated guitar player. Their albums are still some of my favorite go to. Should definitely check out my own prison

I would definitely say Creed in influenced by Christianity. It’s pretty obvious, because of Scott Stapp’s upbringing. I’m a Christian, and I see the Christian fingerprints all over most of their songs. It’s the struggle with God and what he wants, and that is what Stapp, and a lot of Christians are constantly going through. Really it’s the struggle with life and the unknown, that we all can relate to. We want answers, and we’re constantly trying to figure it out. So you don’t have to be Christian to relate to Creed’s songs.

I dont think Tremonti is underrated. Any metal head that plays guitar knows who Tremonti is. It surprised me early on to see a lot of them playing Creed riffs, but as I learned guitar, I realized how creative he was.

I know Creed singer Scott Stapp gets a bad rap... but he was a talented lyricist and vocalist. This was one of his first songs that he wrote for Creed back in the 90's. Coming from a dysfunctional family, a stepfather who was a strict "Christian" who hated rock music and allegedly disapproved of Stapp's copy of Def Leppard's 'Pyromania' album as a kid... struggling w/ mental issues and eventually drug & alcohol addiction... Stapp said he was inspired by Jim Morrison of The Doors to become a singer (Morrison himself had a difficult upbringing... a strict military father... and he died young from his addictions at 27). I think 'Torn' was about his difficulty coming from a conservative Christian household and getting out of that situation... his descent into substance abuse and feeling conflicted between what he was taught and how he turned out... Creed were marketed as this 'spiritual' rock band, but they were anything but. 'My own prison' was their debut album, released in 1997 and it took off by 1998, selling 4 million copies in the US (eventually 6 million) and defined the 'post-grunge' rock movement of the 90's/ early 2000's. Despite Creed's success, the band split up in 2003 after 3 massive records... Mark Tremonti (guitar) and 2 other Creed members formed the band Alter Bridge in 2004 w/ singer Myles Kennedy, while Scott Stapp launched a solo career... Creed did reunite for a 4th album 'Full circle'... but Alter Bridge is the active band now. Scott Stapp went thru a tough time... divorce, addictions, solo career tanking... he ended up homeless briefly from mental illness... his recovery is still an ongoing process, I believe...
@creinicke1000
@creinicke1000 2 года назад
Pretty good explanation of stamps life experience. So sad about divorce since it's obvious from his writings that he deeply loves his kids and wanted a happy family, but addictions and traumas have apparently continued to destroy him. I'm a Christian and I have no idea what his supposed Christian father relationship with him did.. but I don't think it's right to blame Christianity since stapp's faith I think is all that's kept him alive. If I knew how to fix additions, and folks with emotional problems I sure would do it.. I have a daughter who continues to falter.. it's very painful for parents who love their kids to see their adult kids not be happy. I hope he someday can recover and have healthy family relationships. He's so talented.
@sumonjamal1653
@sumonjamal1653 2 года назад
@@creinicke1000 First, Scott Stapp is not Christian... he walked away from his faith. It had nothing to do w/ his recovery... rehabilitation... Second, his stepfather was a religious zealot who condemned rock music as 'perverse' ( Seriously, Def Leppard???) Third, religious zealotry... whether it be Christianity, Islam, Hinduism... is dangerous, delusional and deeply scarring to anyone who comes into conflict w/ them. I should know... Teaching religious beliefs is fine... belief in life & death, heaven & hell, a solitary God... Learning kindness and empathy, charity... prayer to bring peace & harmony... respect... tolerance... It's supposed to make life better, not worse for us. It's supposed to be a guidance in life... not a cult of doom & misery. I have seen too many cases where Christianity (and Islam and other beliefs) are weaponized into instilling fear, guilt, and morbid views of the world and people... They scar people mentally & emotionally for life. Also, the hypocrisy of people who preach their gospels by day, and indulge in malicious acts at night... The physical & emotional abuse that so-called religious people inflict on their children & families... the demonizing of other religions w/ zero respect for other beliefs... the sexism and misogyny against women and girls & reproductive rights and sex education... the emboldening of outright racism & intolerance in the cause of faith... the absolute disgraceful way that gay and lesbian people are treated and stigmatized and "cured" (supposedly). And then, there's wars between religious groups simply because of intolerance that leads to violence & deaths. So, it depends on what kind of Christian you are... a zealot who uses beliefs as a cudgel to hurt & maim... or a practitioner who wants to exemplify a kind, considerate & respectful human being... Only u can figure that one out.
@sumonjamal1653
@sumonjamal1653 2 года назад
@@creinicke1000 P.S. Christianity does not fix mental & emotional problems, or addictions... the Bible does not tell you how to make medicines or build airplanes or care for loved ones - We have to figure out what works best for us, because it may not work for others... And that is why we have mental health professionals, physicians, engineers and counselors... Isn't 'seeking help when we need it' a virtue? Aren't we supposed to listen and learn? Communicate with each other? Settle our issues & differences w/ civility and humility? I'm sick of people who keep saying that we should pray & have faith for things to get better, while they do nothing to fix their problems. That's irresponsible and apathetic to behave that way... because to do nothing is also a choice. "What did I do wrong? I didn't do anything." "Well, that's exactly what you did wrong..."

@@sumonjamal1653 u seem to hate religion I just read the part where u said it doesn't fix mental or emotional problems well that might be ur experience but I know people who it has help n while I'm not religious I don't understand why people want to hate bro get a grip lol Plus medicine don't always work and it dose show how to care and respect your loved ones everyone gots there own way of dealing with shit religion is one so don't belittle that
@sumonjamal1653
@sumonjamal1653 2 года назад
@@josemadera3138 I don't hate religion... I hate the weaponizing of religion... I can't tolerate hypocrites who molest and rape and kill, and then wear the cloth of holiness as it if absolves their crimes... Like "Buddhists" of Myanmar who killed 20K+ non-Buddhist Rohingyas and raped & brutalized thousands of girls and women in 2017... and justified it by saying that "these people were less than insects, and killing them is no consequence". My point was - just like medicine has its purpose and limitations... religion has it's purpose and is not a panacea for every problem in life. My parents acted like that faith was all that mattered... & my family splintered anyway, because of unresolved issues and callousness by my parents. My dad died after a 14 yr struggle w/ Parkinson's disease and left behind 5 damaged children w/ 2 different wives & no responsibility for his actions (or lack therof)... I am estranged from my older brother because his "faith" put him in the arms of Trump, and Christian nationalists & insurrectionist terrorists (even tho he claims he's a Muslim). I have zero tolerance for anyone who joins an extremist terrorist group of any "religion". That is me getting a grip. My former roommate came from a conservative Christian family... he was diagnosed w/ schizophrenia, exacerbated by his family's lack of financial support in his college years... his little sister nearly died of an ear infection (lost hearing in 1 ear permanently) cos their mom insisted the prayer and God would heal her (their dad took her to the E.R... the doctor threatened to report them to child services... he left the church after that) And they divorced because his mom would not seek marriage counseling unless it was church-approved. Their youngest son became a drug dealer... He said his mom & her family endured years of sexual abuse in a deeply religious household... and she had an underage sexual affair w/ their high school football coach (whom his dad played for on the team). An ex-wife of my close friend was traumatized as a Jehovah's witness because her church got her married young to a man who abused her and was later revealed to be a pedophile... She divorced 3 times (so far). Weaponized religion does real and permanent damage to people from what I have seen. Those are the worst-case scenarios... Religion is not supposed to be this thing that shackles & totures you mentally... Another close friend of mine is a Buddhist, his wife is a Christian... and they take their 2 daughters to a church and a temple and give them the best of both worlds. And his wife had to leave her family's church because her pastor objected to her marrying an Asian immigrant and non-Christian... Such bs from these people. I don't hate religion... but I am aware and wary of hypocrites and liars, who use their faith as an excuse for all the damage they inflict, and the misinformation and outright lies that they spread to further their agendas and ambitions. I say that the objective in life is to be constructive... not destructive. Religion should be used to build people up w/ love, empathy, sympathy, charity, tolerance, communication and understanding... and even a measure of toughness... because life is exceptionally difficult, and help is better than handicap.

At its core, “Torn” is about the conflict between wanting to forgive and the inability to do so. The song is an earnest expression of how loss and grief can twist our thinking and prevent us from finding peace, even when we know it’s the right thing to do.

Creed is an interesting band - front man disillusioned after a religious upbringing writes quasi-religious/ righteous lyrics over killer guitar by Mark Tramanti (has his own signature model PRS and is still killing it with Alter Bridge to this day). Saw them in concert in Chicago at what used to be called the New World Music Theatre. An unbelievable show. Almost like a religious revival. Sold out crowd with lighters held high singing every word to every song for almost two hours straight. These guys had something. But all too typical a story - front man achieves some success and takes a nosedive. Band breaks up. They reform with a new name minus the lead singer and that’s that. In this case - the new band is awesome, with maybe the best lead singer in music today Myles Kennedy. But it’s different. Nothing was quite like Creed then or since.

As a metalhead who has torn through your entire channel (love it, by the way) trying to find the rock songs you've reacted to, may I make a suggestion, for something newer and a bit more niche? Band: Periphery, Song: "Scarlet." It's a bit heavier than this, but they've a huge following, and I bet your channel would benefit from delving into the progressive metal scene, not to mention how thoroughly I'd enjoy seeing you guys react to some of that stuff. It's wonderfully written, excellently performed music.

Much maligned band is (Creed) but they were a very hard hitting rock band. Unfortunately the very radio friendly songs they wrote got pushed by the industry & the record company. Scott Stapp lead vocalist has a very unusual voice and in those days 20 years back it was very powerful. They were attacked for having a lot of Christian themed lyrics & called a Christian Band; they were a great hard rock band. Their song Faceless Man is worth checking out very powerful and profound rock song. Not everyone’s taste but they were a great band.

this band did what no (basically) christian band ever did, hugely popular, great post grunge was a weird time, some people didn't accept bands like creed and godsmack but they rocked..

It's a good guess but no not Eddie Vedder it's Scott Stapp and I think he's doing his own solo stuff I know that he was in art of anarchy singing for them

I saw them live once. Have seen Scott Stapp three time as solo artist. Incredible. The creed band moved on with Myles Kennedy to become alter bridge.

I'm a fan of Creed's first three albums (ONLY three, as far as I'm concerned). But while I think their songwriting got better on later records, their SOUND (especially Scott's voice) never sounded better than it did on the first album. Their later band, Alter Bridge is also great. Please do yourself a favor, and check out guitarist/vocalist Mark Tremonti's solo band!

It's not, his name is Scott Stapp, Eddie Vedder is Pearl Jam singer. Another band name is Alterbridge, Creed band without Scott Stapp.

Scott Stapp grew up in a very religious family and was attending a Christian school when he was caught smoking pot and they threw him out... So, all he was taught about forgiveness, etc. turned out to be a lie to him... What If is another banger from them...
